In the "Freedom to Float" downloads Frank will help you overcome your fear and anxiety of the water by guiding you through firstly the simple posture stretch in Module one, the Freedom Breath in Module two and then onto full floatation and regaining your standing position in Modules three and four. Each module is a video tutorial demonstrating Frank's unique technique in detail. Unlike other swimming tutorials Frank does not instruct you to do something, he carefully shows you exactly how to do everything!

Thanks thanks thanks Sir .What a beautiful teacher you are . For beginners like me you are God. No body teaches with patience and care like you .The hand that you put on the students body is enough for him to learn.

Thank you so much for this video. You clearly articulated what my instructor couldn't articulate which is that I should stand with my face still in the water. I practiced this today and I can finally stand in the water. Thank you so much! I just wish you published more videos especially how to stand from back float position.

Don't know why? I cannot bend the knees when floating on the front. Both knees seems tying by the water! I have been trying for many times over the past few years but still fail. I am now 65. Hope to make it before 70!

Below is the transcription of this video ========== Freedom to Float Module 1: The Posture Stretch Thank you for downloading module 1 of four in the Freedom to Float technique. In this module, I want to show you how to attain the correct position on the water in order to float and to swim correctly. This is a module that you can practice at home. At swimmingteacher.com, we do not believe in using any artificial flotation aids or paddle strokes. Our aim is to teach you to swim correctly first time around so you look like an experienced swimmer not like a beginner. In order to do this, at this very early stage, we'd like to introduce you to what we call the posture stretch. The posture stretch is just stretching your body into a streamline position that will enable you to move smoothly through the water. This is a simple exercise that you can do against the wall in your room upon your tiptoes and stretching your arms up behind you. It's not something that will come too easy to all of you because we all lose our posture as we get older. But the posture is critical at this stage in what we're trying to teach you. Try this little practice at home. Lie down in front of your telly on your tummy and watch TV with your chin up in the air and see how uncomfortable it is for you. Unfortunately this is the way that most people learn how to swim. Not here at swimmingteacher.com . Here we teach you to relax your head and allow your limbs to move freely with your spine relaxed. We want to enhance the natural flotation ability of the body by taking an extra oxygen into the lungs and allowing your body to float. The posture stretch is very important. You need to take your time with this. Don't rush it take as long as you need. All you need is a flat wall to stand with your back against. In order to demonstrate this, I'm going to call on one of our advanced teachers Edward to show you how to achieve this. So we have a flat wall and Edward standing with his back straight against the wall. Now raise your heels up onto the wall Edward. So you're up on your tiptoes, still flat against the wall. And stretch your arms out in front. There's no hurry to do this. Feel you're comfortable against the wall. Now take a breath, blow out, and breathe in slowly. Now drop your head forward. So he's released his head off his spine. His head is relaxed. His spine is relaxed. Now he raises his arms up as high as he can. Don't go onto the wall at the moment. And he's not able to make the wall. He's finding it difficult. That's fine at this stage. And relax again down everybody doing this nice and slowly. And blow out, blow out. So we'll repeat that, slow it down, and we practice. You can stretch a little bit further each time until your arms reach the wall behind you. And again Edward, blow out, breathe in slowly. His arms are nice and straight, gets rid of the weight of his head chin down, and slowly stretch. Don't bounce it! If you can't make, it it doesn't matter. In time, you can stretch fully and actually touch the wall behind you. That is the full posture stretch. And that is the correct swimming and floating position in the water. And relax. Though you can see, it looks quite simple, but it probably takes you a little bit longer than you think. It's critical that we achieve this. There's no point in going down to the swimming pool if you're unable to get your body into a floating and a swimming position. So please practice this as many times as you like as slowly as you like, before you move on to module 2.

Thank you for posting this video. You have been a BIG help!. 2 mo ago i decided to take lessons to overcome my phobia of water-finally at the age of 42!. I had one-1/2 hr private lesson & we covered front & back float. Not so successful pulling out of it & consumed water. Discouraged I surfed the net & found you. After practicing for 2 months (2x a week) i can finally get out of a front float & still practicing & working on back. My 2nd class was only today & the instructor insisted bringing me into chest deep water (not comfortable with this yet)..I was terrified & again swallowed water. Half way into his lesson i think he realized just what phobia really means. i paddled on stomach with tube under arm & he stayed beside my the whole time. I wish you were my teacher :) I would be so happy if you posted more videos like the ones you already did. Perhaps one on how to get to vertical position from your back (not sure why this is so difficult). Once again, thank you--and i didn't even have to pay you.

Frank Kennedy, I am guessing Edward is an accomplished swimmer, right?!! I have always taught that one should hook the front of the goggles to the forehead, strap on back of head, stretch the goggles in front of eyes and theen gently place on eye sockets and gentle press to create a partial vaccum seal. am i right or am i? I am eager to chek your third module. incidentlally i have been swimming for thirty years and still eager to fine tune all the four storkes. VishG

I know someone who took his first swimming lesson at 60, and a woman in my area took her first lesson at 85. You're never too old if you're still in reasonably good health.

Hi frank i'm learning floating in pool when i leave my hand from pool side i sink to pool and my fear is not going out what should i do ? please help me
@fredbrackely
@fredbrackely 10 лет назад
I would say that you are stressed, and are probably subconsciously lifting your head when it feels like your hand sinks. A friend in the pool with you will help alleviate your fear. Try to remember your body mass is less than that of water, so you will always float with air in your lungs.

Who needs artificial floatation aids? Not us. Not ever. Floatation aids are demeaning to both the teacher and to you the pupil. Filling your lungs correctly will give you all of the floatation that your body (held in the correct position) needs. It will also ensure that you can,t take any water in, and will give you lots of extra time to practice each skill, in the correct position without needing to breath, or even move. It allows your body to relax and float independently. Swimming teachers still using on floatation aids, please try this instead, we need to move on. Each child has two empty armbands in their chests! The Freedom Breath is an essential skill. So take your time and learn it fully.
@FreedomToFloat
@FreedomToFloat 10 лет назад
First Step.... Before you go near water you can start top practice streamlining your body. Yes it is simple, but you need to practice and feel it. If your body bend's like a banana in the water, you will float (actually sink) and swim like a banana. Good body posture is vital even at this stage if you are to float, and later swim.. correctly.

Experienced swimming teachers knows that we should not require floatation aids. So maybe Speedo ( Kelloggs etc) have some "special relationship" with our Governing Body to sell their junk that over rides the education and health and safety of our children? Almost every 10 year old in this country should be capable of swimming a mile, but it will never happen while the present management of the ASA and Sports UK are in place and in each others pockets. About 20% of children are traumatised and have a fear of water for life due to poorly qualified swimming teachers and lives are lost every week because the ASA have failed to teach our nation to swim. The ASA actually blocked a survey that would have confirmed these dreadful figures. But I expected nothing less!
