Thank you for your reactions and tutorials. I heard Mr. Peterson's "Hymn to Freedom" and just wanted to listen and watch his performances on these RU-vid videos. What about Erroll Garner? I read that he did not read music. I loved his "Watch What Happens" so much that I bought that same song performed by many different artists. Music is such a gift for us to enjoy.
This was a Chinese singing contest in 2017, when Dimash was 22 years old. Because of Chinese politics he won 2nd place, the only time in his life he didn't win 1st place. Dimash began training when he was five years old.
This is supernatural musicmaking, not to comprehend for the most musicians! When Anthony doesn't use the pic he holds it between his lips. This concert is fantastic! Sorry for my English, I'm from the Netherlands. I very often watch Hiromi in a lot of performances and other drummers like Simon Phillips.
I'm obsessed with Mansur's guitar tone in this recording. No idea how to describe it but I love it. also, re: sound quality, this is Abbey Road studio after all
I’m SO glad she has so many videos on RU-vid. The drummer is Steve Smith, formerly of JOURNEY…… WHAT ? 😳 Most of the trio project videos have Simon Phillips on drums, formerly of TOTO…….WHAT ? 😳
I have to ask myself, "did we think Our Father could/would not go to the Hood and anoint a messenger?" So grateful for the grace shown us in these gifts I'm watching and listening to.
some of the best vulfpeck reactions i've seen! loved this and the dean town reaction so much I went through a bunch of your other reactions, and love the way yall break down songs and feel the groof! sad it seems yall aren't making more of these, but in case you still check comments for this channel, I just wanted to share my appreciation
I would like to know whether one person sits down and composes alone or whether everyone contributes their own ideas and the song completes itself by magic have found to create a vision.
its both ! some people like Kevin from tame impala or Chaz from Toro y Moi are like one man bands and use other musicians for touring and collaboration
This gorgeous Blues was recorded on November 12 in 1967, MPS-Villingen, with Sam Jones and Bobby Durham, It is even better than the Blues on the LP BluesEtude, Mercury 1966, This track is dedicated to Sandra King (ca.1940-June 2020), a operation nurse at Toronto General Hospital, who was with Oscar during the MPS years 1963-1973. Sandy must have meant an awful lot to Oscar, of which this almost frightening Blues bears an impressive testimony! Note the phrase in 13,42/44! Jan van Schellen Dropvat, aka pianist Johnny Dropvat, Amsterdam-Holland
If you haven't listened to it, check out Oscar Peterson's Boogie Blues Etude. It's mind blowing. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xdd5pn1xs7M.htmlsi=jCJ4Wsuhgfi1vTR2
I loved your reaction to this. The rapt attention of both of you showed you were aware you were listening to something special. Another track that effect upon me when I heard it for the first time was Nils Petter Molvaer - Solid Ether (Live in Hamburg in 2001) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E2GQbt_OL-Y.html .
Wynton Marsalis on Trumpet with the Mute is a well known Giant in Jazz. I'm just wondering why he would be considered FUNNY. Is Oscar Peterson FUNNY? Just asking.
Whenever I listen to Hiromi I always have a smile on my face, hers is so infectious. I get the feeling that she is always playing around, with melody, rhythm, or volume dynamics.
I suspect knowing too much music/practice can get in the way! At 75 with no musical training or ability I find Hiromi plays with my head and heart directly. Gasp, groan, cry or yearning all comes from Hiromi's music, usually in the same piece! I especially like that Hiromi actually composed most of the music she plays. Outstanding in every way! 😍🥰
I'd have to disagree. The more time you've spent playing, the more you appreciate what she can do. Chick Corea found her playing to be spectacular. How many other pianists would Chick hold in that regard? I'd guess not that many. If you're not a musician of that level, the range of players who are magical like that opens up considerably.
I did not know this song until heard Dimash sing on this stage, and I was enthralled. After hearing him sing it, I went on RU-vid to hear the original. By the way, it is from the French rock opera, Starmaniaby different and beloved performers and Diamsh was just so much better. Who cares if his pronunciation was not correct? It's his voice that is so beautiful and mesmerizing. I knew the "S" was supposed to be silent. Think of learning a song in a song in a foreign language in one week. He only spoke Kazak and Russian when he first came to the show. His first four songs were in French, Russian, English, and Mandarin. Thank you for your comments.
Love your reactions to Oscars great music! My fave album is tristeza on piano, latin influenced, abso awsome! Health and happiness to all, Erik the Netherlands
