The Zoo meta of TI11 was crushing as a Secret fan... watching them make it all the way to the finals just to be completely destroyed but Naga and Brood in a devastatingly one sided sweep
The hero, on a conceptual level, just doesn't work. It doesn't even capture the identity of his lore. His stats could be 4.0 and +4 per level and his kit would drag the model down. Why? + Counter helix being a PASSIVE and not an ACTIVE is one of the biggest issues. It doesn't even make sense from a game design standpoint. Look at LoL. Darius is Axe, but a complete monster because his counter helix is an active with huge range. To avoid the higher outer ring of damage, characters are actively encouraged to avoid it entirely or GO INTO MELEE against him and take less burst. Counter Helix being a passive completely removes these potential interactions. You don't need to copy LoL, but it's current iteration just doesn't work and its amazing that over a decade of failure and clunky design hasn't been enough of a tip. + Battle Hunger. What is the actual point of this garbage ability? It doesn't help you farm. It does horrible damage early on. Costs an obnoxious amount of mana that he doesn't have. Doesn't help him accomplish his goal of taunting and spinning. Doesn't interact with his kit in any way. Doesn't enable his kit in any way that an orb of venom on a support wouldn't do a better job of. When Lich lost sacrifice and finally got a stun, I had hope. Then 5 years past and all the number changes in the world haven't fixed this garbage fire of an ability. Remove it. Rework it. I don't care. Just get rid of what it currently is. + Culling Blade. It's so situational that it forces Axe himself into a situational role. He COULD instantly kill a target protected by Grave, Disk, or Promise. Sure. You could also just pick Magnus. And do everything Axe does. But better. With no need to lose your position 3. Need a pick? Magnus can safely start it with shockwave. Or blink and RP. Or blink into skewer. Or blink into Horn Toss into Skewer. He can do all of this with a version of Berserker's Call that doesn't kill himself, stuns, vacuums, and DOES DAMAGE. And all of Magnus's buttons enable his other buttons. Unlike Axe. Who has to have everything happen in the exact same order every single time. It's just so baffling why Axe hasn't been reworked like Lich. Even the most recent crownfall changes are just trying to brute force his frankly aweful kit through raw stats and numbers. "If armor, free str" OR "Call give more armor, but they hit you more." Neither are what this hero needs to perform.
Feel the axe of Axe! The most testosterone-brimming (or lacking lol depending on how you look at it) hero. Excellent voice, lines, lore, vibe. Also related with Warcraft's best warrior (Grom Hellscream) in a way.
DOTA 2 really is a different game from Defense of the Ancient (DOTA 1) In DOTA 1, we usually just upgrade her 3rd skill and stat. We would buy dominator and treads, lothar, yasha to manta, buriza, and butterfly. She was one of the best carry, with one of the greatest dps.
oh my GOD, I didn't notice this was a baumi video until wayyyy into the video. So great to see this channel creep its way into my recommended im binging the latest videos.
Shame, PA is my favourite hero and despite how simple she is, its always fun to play her. I wish mid PA was relevant again as it was in 2016. A video on TA would be awesome!
Hi Baumi, it would be nice to mention the most contested hero as well in this circumstance at 0:44 and 1:17:23. In general, if something is in the top 3, it would be an interesting addition to mention the position(s) above it. E.g. at 1:17:31
Honestly the rework of Techies was depressing and just shows the bad direction Dota's been taking. I hate techies as much as the next guy, but I just wanted some tweaks, not a complete hero-wash. Perhaps even change his stasis mines to be something more engaging alongside the team. Techies helped represent how much of a Wildcard Dota 2 was, and what made it stand out from other mobas. It was SO damn unique man, the game as a whole. Every hero was unique, almost any build could work, strategies change on the fly. Over time Dota has lost this identity more and more, and I think Dota 2 officially died as a Dota game when Techies got completely reworked to be more bland and by the books. 2016 was peak Dota, and the changes for the worse started happening after that year. And it shows, Dota's player count has been plummeting more and more because it's just... not interesting anymore.
Baumi, I don't know if you already have your heroes planned for the rest of your series, but as a follower of your regular youtube channel and a fellow centaur warrunner fan, would love to see a video on the big boi
