Hello, I am Sam. I make videos. Specifically older media, TTRPGS, painting, and whatever else currently has my attention.
-My favorite book is Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Vern -My favorite video games are Lisa the Hopeful/Timeless, The Wind Waker, and Shadows of Almia -I have created my own Dungeons and Dragons system, and have a long running game in it, based off of Whitebox, Moldvay Basic, and Advanced 1e
You currently need no more information about me. In fact, if you do want more, stop reading this and go watch my videos!
Have you considered doing multiverse content? After 400 hours in the base game mv reignited that excitement and wonder for me. Lots of cool ships and species too.
Zoltan are my favorite race Ahem Actually no This is FTL *Absolutely that way* Anyways, aesthetically, I prefer Lanius But Zoltans are just cracked Also It's worth noting Or maybe not, cause you find out quick and there's little you can do about it Beams and especially ion will fry Zoltan shields
5:15 Fun fact! If you have a fire beam you can also burn their crops ;) P.S. there is another event with the fire bomb where you get the quest to scout out a mantis(?) camp. Normally when you arrive you’re forced to back out but if you have the fire bomb you get a good bit off loot and a crew member. Speaking of fire, some of my most fun moments is fire beam + rock crewmen + teleporter. I know the B variant has the fire bomb but I swap it out for the fire beam every time. Nothing beats being able to set half their ship + medbay on fire, then after fighting them to get them low hp, teleporting back to your ship to watch them burn.
Just to clarify, Cherenkov radiation doesn't travel "faster than light" per se (although I command your wordplay sir), it IS light, thus it wants to travel at the speed of light... But it ends up going faster than light should go in that medium, releasing photons in the process of hitting water molecules
Did not know initially this was an actual game just thought this was a quality shitpost. I only looked into the video because me and my siblings all live together and call us "house zoltan" when we give gifts lol
@@SamsSideshow a 2000's film called "dude wheres my car", has a cult in a guys backyard called "The Zoltans" who in the end join a group of aliens to party, we quoted the movie a lot whenvwe were younger so the name stuck, so i was hyped to see some love for the ZOLTANS
Happy to see the Zoltan video up. If I may make a suggestion, consider slapping an A, B, or C on the ship thumbnails on the tier list. I'm sure most of us don't even remember what their hull colors mean and it's double so when it's ships from older videos. When it comes to ships and gimmicks, I've always seen A as the slightly themed ship, B as the one that "leans into the bit," and the C being the gimmick. But yeah the B's and C's are pretty out there in general.
Quick Tip: Do NOT buy Hardware store Primer. I will list the reasons in the order in how Importen this factor is: 1. Some contain Azeton witch will melt your minis. ( uncomme but still possible to find) 2. Tere are often times glose or shiny, you want matt ( Other wise the paint wont stick) 3. The price. A spray can costs around 10-15 € where i live, most hobby brand primers cost around 15-20 € and work way better for the hobby. [I recommend Games Workshop/ Citadel (20€) or The Army painter (14€), both have worked great for me in the past.]
The day this poor fella looks into ftl mv will be the day that his desk will be covered in notes on the lore the weapons, and on 6 LEG EQUINES (Also the other addon mods like the one im making)
aaah sssstranger sssstranger, slugs are my absolute favorite species in both ftl and multiverse! (or as I call it, "ftl 2"). their ships are also all my favorite ones to pilot. my greatest antics with slug ships: man of war - picked up a second anti-bio beam for shits and giggles on an easy mode run, and powered both at once to make a genuine literal death ray to any non-rock crewmember. stormwalker - refused to install a medical system of any kind and instead got myself hacking, cloaking, and mind control to go with the teleporter. sold the medbomb for a reconstructive teleport augment. at one point my engi got injured and I had to teleport it and another injured crewmember onto the enemy ship to heal it. ariolimax - got unlucky with scrap, weapons, resources, and systems (I wanted to buy cloaking but it never showed up). I lucked into a small bomb to aid in crewkilling, but was so low on missiles for the entire run that I was forced to use mind control _alone_ to take out most 2-shield enemies. in the end I got a teleporter and combined it with the hacking/mind control to beat the flagship with nothing but the bomb and the chain burst laser.
Lovely video, however. Here's the advice of someone who got into this a long time ago: You can just pay a *guy* at your local hobby shop to paint your miniatures for you. There's like, a handful of these nerds at every shop. People who truly enjoy expressing themselves by painting these tiny miniatures. Because they mostly do it out of joy it'll come out considerably cheaper than buying all of the kit yourself. If you still want to do it yourself, oftentimes shops will do events where they lend you the kit and teach you how to use it. It's far better to learn with the help of others. Initially I found miniature painting to be just the *right* amount of artistic expression. It was painting with safety rails on basically. But it's just too expensive, wizards of the coast have priced their stuff far out of reach of someone who just wants to paint a couple of figures. Hopefully the reader will understand that I'm not being a hater. It's just too earned expensive.
I certainly do not encourage buying exclusively from Wizards, I just said their big models were decent value. However, the miniature hobby, while intertwined with various games, is still its own hobby. I highly recommend that people paint their own models, it is an amazing community to be a part of. By looking to eBay and other sites, it can be made fairly affordable. True the jumping in point is somewhat high, but after you have the supplies, and even just RU-vid guides, you are golden. People certainly make it better also ;)
Carnevale is a really cool wargame. Parkour skirmish game set in Venice around the 1500s if I remember correctly where magic stuff has started going down. I don’t think any other wargame has made say “yo that was ruled” more than Carnevale. The game is very terrain dependent but the stuff made by the company behind it is phenomenal.
@@SamsSideshow Those of us who love FTL have to stick together. After all...graphically, FTL was "out of date " 20 years before it was released. There's no excuse for it ever fading into obscurity. It is truly a timeless game.
It may have been inspired by Dragon Ball's King Piccolo Daemon. This villain legitimized crime and possessed telepathic powers. Among the Namekians, the name "Neil" comes from the snail.
Kestrel A is one hell of a great ship, easily A tier. EXCELLENT weaponry and very well rounded starting set up. Also understanding how Kestrel A works is super easy for beginners as it is a gunship which everyone seems to understand intuitively, you go pew pew enemy goes kaboom. It is not the flashiest ship that's all.
Imo chain burst is pretty cracked actually Like, yeah, it takes a bit But just by other lasers at time it so they all fire at once, it doesn't take *that* long And if you can find another chain burst? I'll hold onto and collect chain bursts just in the hopes I eventually get 2 or more of them It's worth even just having it sit in cargo But that's my obsession ig
Many thanks! :) Aaaand, I have, but I’m thinking that I won’t be doing so. I like base FTL, the only mod I would consider talking about is Captain’s Edition, and even then I don’t know if I will
Hearing someone talk about playing a game like FTL "growing up" (the way I would about something like Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri or Stronghold) makes me feel *old.* :P
