Battletech has always been a favorite of mine: cheap miniatures (though I usually buy the all-metal ones), great lore and games to go alongside it, and the community is great. Only issue I've ever had was finding anyone who actually plays Battletech lol

I have a bunch of Battletech figures, I just need to paint and play the game! I will certainly add it to the big list of war games, it looks fun, and the lore is awesome

@SamsSideshow The company and community is somehow worse than GW but the game itself is awesome

I would be curious to hear what you think of Infinity by Corvus Belli. I’m a big fan of the smaller armies that make it easier for me to justify putting character into my painting. That said, I really hope you find what you are looking for. Battletech is also delightful if you are into stompy mechs. Good luck in your search. :))

Thanks! I did a quick search on Corvus Belli, and it seems like all their models are metal. That is awesome, metal models have a ton of character. I shall add it to the list!

@@SamsSideshow In recent years they have released *some* models in plastic, but the vast majority of their work is done in metal yes :)

Carnevale is a really cool wargame. Parkour skirmish game set in Venice around the 1500s if I remember correctly where magic stuff has started going down. I don’t think any other wargame has made say “yo that was ruled” more than Carnevale. The game is very terrain dependent but the stuff made by the company behind it is phenomenal.

Infinity by Corvus Belli is my main game. It’s an absolute gem. Metal models and they’re beautiful. Their rules let you proxy anything so technically only ever need to buy a thing once. Most factions have a collection pack. 375 dollars but easily found for 190 that contains basically that entire army’s faction in a box. With that and proxying never need to buy another model again if you don’t want to(you will want to) Then finally the ARO system means even when it’s the other persons turn. It’s still your turn. Any enemy unit moving into your units line of sight or within 8 inch’s of your unit gives you a list of reactions. So you’re always playing the game.

That’s a pretty awesome rule! Anything with interactivity while it’s not your turn is very good! Also, I adore metal models! You are the second person to recommend Infinity… Do you know if the starter set is any good?

@@SamsSideshow it’s a fantastic deal for the price. It gets you a playable group of two factions, most of the tokens you will need, and terrain!!! If you need the box to learn I’d say go for it! BUT, Infinity has two major rule sets. Code one and N4. Code one is a simplified version of the game for beginners or for players who feel like playing a faster leaner game. Though generally models in code one can be used in N4 but some models in N4 can’t be used in code one. The beginner set is code one compliant The only reason you wouldn’t get it I think would be if you got a local pod who is willing to lend you an army for learner games. That way you can learn to play and instead just buy straight into the faction you want. All factions in Infinity fall roughly on a spectrum between Gun and Ability. For example the beginner box has Aleph and Haqislam. Aleph is better at getting into straight up gun fights than Haq. But vice versa Haq is better at succeeding skill checks and A-symmetric warfare, the use of camo tokens and hacking. Trying to make this short but there is another level of the game in that you actually don’t reveal your entire list to your enemy. An army like Haq may deploy their entire army as camo tokens. So your opponent needs to waste orders discovering before they shoot…and they don’t know who they are shooting at!!

Wowza, that last bit about the camo tokens seems pretty awesome. I really like sneaky armies! I don’t know anyone locally who plays it, so I’ll probably get the starter box, and then look into N4 after trying Code one. I really like everything I see about it

Heck yeah man! OPR is on the list, and it seems amazingly simple, I am looking forward to it!
