Mainly videos on railfanning Union Pacific, BNSF, Amtrak, Metrolink, Coaster, Caltrain, & ACE trains throughout California. Great weather, great locations, great trains !
My name is Brent and when I came to America in the 1980's, I've always heard about American trains and their size and power, so one day I decided to go trackside and watch a Union Pacific freight train roll by. The sounds, the horns, the vibrations, and the friendly crew made it all too an amazing experience that I will never forget ! Since then, I have always had a passion for railroading and began what would be my career in the railroad industry. I mainly focus on railfanning at different stations throughout the state of California to provide a holistic perspective, but will also try to attend railroad related events. However, due to the nature of my job, some uploads can have a substantial time gap because of my work. I currently use the Sony Handycam FDR-AX33 for all of my videos. Thanks for visiting my channel !

Yea great catches at this station in this town with the coaster and the picfic surfliner Sorry you couldn’t get any horn action because the quiet zone This zone got put up because it seems like some people who don’t like trains are complaining about train whistle They are complaining about the whistles because they think there too loud and disturbing and they money don’t like haw night trains can wake them up like the polar express so yea that why this zone is here we know. But I hurd this zone got lifted so naw these days any railfanning can get horn shows again but some old people are starting to complain about the nose again Hopefully some day the people who are complaining about train horns will understand that any railfan is out there trying to get horn shows
Thank you ! Yeah, I was fortunate to be able to catch some trains here a number of times before they implemented the QZ in late 2012. I’ve heard about brief lifts of the QZ and the few times horns are heard blowing again.
To be honest, it’s actually not as isolated as you may think. When I visited, it wasn’t much off the main highways to get here. If you want to see an example of a very desolate station, check out my “Railfanning Lompoc - Surf” video. That is one of the most desolate stations I’ve ever been to.
Most heavy rail commuter trains usually approach the station around 30 MPH, but could vary depending on if the station is on a grade and the length of the train, etc.
That particular ACE train was running with extra cars that day, presumably for a school field trip or some event that required more capacity. Because it’s somewhat rare, the train was close enough to the crossing that it actuated the signals and had to back up to clear the crossing while boarding passengers for about 10 minutes.
Thanks ! Yeah, it actually is possible to film out the front forward direction if you can film over the operator and if the operator is okay with a camera behind them, haha
Yeah, I’ve been fairly busy with other priorities the last two years but I’m truly hoping to get back out there and catch some trains this year. Still in the books are Van Nuys, Chatsworth, and Burbank at the very least, but hopefully soon. Thanks for the checkup ! Sincerely appreciate the continued viewership !
The air horns on these DMU trains sound so different than they did back in 2014. They are also overhauling these amazing light rail vehicles nowadays similar to that of the NCTD Coaster bombardier bilevel coaches and cab control cars.
One of the 2 metrolink trains departing that station is a reversed train set. It has the locomotive leading towards los angeles instead of the cab car.
The conductor. The trains run CabCar forward on its trip to Los Angeles but has to make a reverse switching moves at this particular station. The conductor rides the engine as the engineer in the CabCar “reverses” the train.
