Welcome to the new and improved channel. I hope you stick around and forget the world with me while we either fly airplanes or ride bikes together. I'm here to make content for those who want to forget the world's problems and remember that there are still good things out there to strive for. Regardless of what curveball life throws your way, don't let it guide your path. You're still in command.
Probably a long shot but do you have a part number for that belt? Mine has the smog system like yours and I can not find a replacement. Returned belts 5 different times because they were all too short and the numbers on mine got burned off after the idler pulley seized up
It is a long shot, lol. I don't have it but I think I went to Napa and said it was a 98 instead of a 99. It's hard to find parts for the 99 because they made two different generations that year.
@@SR-cp1eo appreciate your response brother. I found the right belt after the 5th one I ordered haha. Mine was a funky situation because it still has the smog pump. Way longer belt than the regular ones. Thanks.
This has to be the best and most straightforward review of these lights I have seen after searching for days...! I also agree with what you are saying about using the driving beam, versus the spot beams. My truck is not a race truck so I don't need light that is heavily concentrated the way the spot beams do. The driving beam is perfect...! The company should use your video as a tech guide in terms of what to actually expect in the real world. Thank for this...!
I appreciate your feedback! Theyre still insanely bright even after however many years its been since I made this video. I hope you found it helpful! I think having 2 spots and 4 driving would be the ultimate rooftop setup.
Currently working on my 1978 Jeep j10: truck is getting ready for 5.3 Ls/4l80e/np205 and BFG 35s . Pulled the trigger on 4.88 gears that would go inside an AAM 11.5 rear & dana 44 hd front. I was not sure about using them, seems I made the right choice, thanks.
Old video, love it! Not Overkill at all. Kills me when guys step up to a 4.10 gear thinking they've done something, when you toss on big tires, you lose torque, you lose bottom end snap, it's 4.56 or 4.88 and don't look back. Your 4L80e also has a 0.79 overdrive, the 4L60e guys will do a little better with their 0.696 overdrive.
very true. Thanks for the comment! I'll be throwing some larger tires on there soon which will help with daily use, but i do enjoy the slower crawl in low range.
Yea, it grows on you. Just have to change your driving style really. Drove it 1000 miles going 80 and it was at 3100ish. Got barely 10mpg which I was impressed with.
3k rpm for 15 hours is quite alot for a 454 haha Its one of the primary reasons I want to get 37's on it to help counteract it. IF you're interested in doing this, you have to get it tuned. even if you don't care about the speedo accuracy. The speed limiter is 98 according to the speedo. After the regear, 98 was actually to 70. I couldn't remove it (amature at HP Tuners) so I just raised it to Mach 1, and did some math to get the speedo somewhat accurate. problem solved.
It’s funny I’m training in aviation now. I found a video of the Invidia N1 for my R53. Im like that’s cool we have the same interest. I wanna go flying
right on! Keep it up! It's a life changer for sure. And yes, haha I had the R53. I liked the exhaust. It didn't sound raspy really at all. highly recommend.
Thank you for your comment, but you're wrong. I had to tune the ECU to calibrate the speedo. It was about 25+ mph off going 70mph on GPS speed. Not to mention it would hit the governor as the speedometer would read 98mph and GPS at ~70mph. The passing Priuses is another sign that re-gearing does in fact change your speedometer. Again, thanks for the comment, I'd love to hear your reasoning.
It was the injectors. :) fuel system was fine, new pump, regulator, filter, I don't remember changing a relay. But the moment I changed the injectors, it fired up every time so quickly you don't even hear it turn over.
@@SR-cp1eo Well I do know the Vin but it wont-work Because my dad sold the truck To a guy And the cops caught him drinking and driving and it so he lost his license and they took the plates off the truck And then it sat under a tree for about a 1/2 a year And my dad bought it back and put new plates on it and Sold it again So we're trying to figure out the Vin But We have figured out half of it But we need to figure out the Vin the 2nd time my dad bought the truck back
My lifted 5.7 1998 silverado with 3.73 at 70 is only 1500 rpm and at 55 just over 1000. But I have a 96 silverado I put 4.88s in I'm curious how it does
I mean, it's a big jump from 3.73 to 4.88. Do some calculations first if you want. I went from 4.10s to 4.88s and think it was way overkill. 4.56 may be a good set for you. My 454 was quite tired
@@Weeeeefox well heck, play with it then haha! I know the transfer case is pretty weak, may get a crawler case of some type and actually get a decent low range. May as well throw in a 4l80e in there also
It had a cold air intake. The stock intake really silents the turbo spool sound. We sold it for a 2015 countryman JCW and just put a K&N air filter in the stock intake, and you could hear it a bit too. So if you want to go the cheaper route, I think it's like 80 dollars for the K&N Air filter. It's quite fun.
@@SR-cp1eo yeah my only problem with the cold air intake is that it is in the back of the engine and I don't want it to be sucking in heat from the engine bay, basically defeating the whole purpose of the cold air intake. i got just the drop in k&n filter and i definitely hear more intake noise.
@@adm9233 yea, I like to call them "Hot air intakes" lol But If you have the n14, there is a kit tha tmakes your hood scoop functional. Not sure what the 2013 jcw's are, but the coutnryman jcw's are n18s
@@SR-cp1eo hot air intakes lmao. that's the thing also is that countrymans dont have a hood scoop. Though Im happy with the K&N drop in filter as I dont want to sacrifice performance. thanks for all the info though!
@@adm9233 You bet! I did read somewhere that the Cold air intake does actually have lower intake temps but you have to be moving a minimum of 30mph. so if you're in traffic, it's really hot. I actually noticed very sluggish response in traffic. The drop in air filter worked great and had that too, (until it got totaled :( We are sad to see it go, but it kept us safe :)
What a beauty im having long crank issue also fuel pressure issues sometimes start up right away sometimes cha cha cha cha long start. 98 2Dr Tahoe I’m prob gonna charge the spider injection system and fuel pressure regulator just cuz eventually. 5.7 liter. After I get don’t with this engine I’m going with a 383 stroker.
@@SR-cp1eo yeah I know how it goes it’s a process I’ve been saving up for one for months now I say maybe about another 8-13 months God will in go will have enough for the engine then k must save for tranny I most def don’t have that type of bread layin around.
Glad I could help. There are a lot of decent lights out there for cheap, but it just comes down to the build quality. KC builds great lights in general.
Well I had the 14 bolt but not every rig has a 14 bolt. They're pretty stout. I had a 3/4 ton Suburban. Even at that, some still had 12 bolt rear ends.
That flipping between the driving and spot beams at the 7 minute mark was the most helpful part....driving may not see a mile down the road, but definitely far and slightly wider beam to help on the curved roads.
I agree. I didn't do it intentionally but as everyone knows, the camera doesn't do it justice. But the switching really helped. 2 spots and 2 driving beams really compliment each other perfectly. I appreciate the comment! I hope it helped you make your decision on what to buy!
My old Jeep had 2 spot, 2 driving on a windshield light bar, my current Jeep has 4 spot, I think the 2 spot, 2 driving beams were a much better set up… I’ll probably switch out 2 on my current Jeep for driving beams at some point
Can you take a picture of the vacuum lines for the part directly in front of the EGR on the driver side? I took my apart and it sat for a while and now I can't seem to find where the last one goes.
oh no!!! Unfortunately, I no longer own this beast... It went to a good friend of mine when we relocated to Hawaii. Sorry I couldn't help! I have other poorly executed videos that might give you an idea?
You could do either. If I'm honest, the hood is probably easier to take off than the intake. That EGR hose kicked my butt.... IF you're going to replace the injectors anyway, you'll have to take the intake off.
When this was shot, it was on a 99 K2500 suburban 454 on a 2" with 33"S. nothing major. The higher up they are, the better they'll perform. so it might be perfect. Unfortunately I no longer have this rig and is now owned by a good friend of mine.
Haha well much appreciated. It doesn't have to be pretty! At the end of the day, it had some new paint strokes from some overgrown bushes. I miss this thing. It was a beast and since the work, has never been stuck. Sold it to a good friend of mine. Soon, I'll get the new ride up to spec to be able to handle the type of wheeling I enjoy. Enjoy the beast Joe! It'll make you smile! (225s10 detriot locker was the best investment I've ever done)
Hey Sean I have a 03 Mini Cooper S and was wondering if you had to do any modifications to it or had to saw anything in order to install it? Or did you just bolt it on?
@@ski11edpl4yer2 yeah just make sure you order the one for your year. the only differance is the inner hangers are slightly diffferent..can make it work either way
Is there any way you can send me a picture of a diagram how to put the serpentine belt just like your vehicle has I went to the dealership no one can give it to me
For starters, I no longer own the vehicle, but you can check online. just need to check if you have a smog pump or not. It'll be a different configuration depending on if you have it or not.
Bro I just did my coolant pressure sensor and plugs wires single coil new injectors and whole new new injector setup and now it shut off and dont start for 5 minutes then starts right up even when it starts amazing in the morning my wife takes it to work and boom no start or anything I pop the hood injectors and all are good plugs wires cap and rotor have all been professionally done by IIT-tech mechanic and timing it on everything works as it should but shuts off on its onw when it wants to without warning and help is welcome
huh... Makes me wonder if there's a grounding issue. Double check your battery connections. that's a mystery. I'd hate to think that your mechanic did a botch job. I've never had or have heard those as an issue before.
oh i see. I think they would be great too. Mine threw down the road very far, but couldn't use them on the trails. I didn't have the up close shots. I would give them a try with the spots and spreads. Either way you wont be dissapointed.
Came across your video. 95 Burb with 33s. I was looking at 4.88s as I’ll go up to 35s at some point with some random towing. I’ve got 350/4l60e. Overall I saw you said it was way overkill on 33s but how was the overall driving. I’m coming from 3.42s
That sucks to hear! The injectors was the last part of the fuel system that I didn't replace. I started with the filter, then Fuel Pressure Regulator, then Fuel pump, all to no change. For me, injectors did the trick. Best of luck to you!
Hi I’m looking for some help I have a 2001 2500 suburban with the 6.0 currently on 33’s with the 3.73 stock gears but I am looking to get rid of the keys and do the BDS/Fox coil over 4.5 inch lift on 315/75/16 which is almost a 35 inch tire and trying to figure out what gearing to go with one shop told me to do the 4.88 and another says do the 4.56 gears. I won’t be towing very often.
So I've never owned a 6.0, but I konw they're powerful engines. You don't need 4.88's. If I'm honest, that was the biggest mistake I've done. It completely destroyed the daily drive. I went too far. If you're asking for my opinion, and you're going up 2 inches on the tire, you don't really need to change anything, but anything in the 4's would be an upgrade. If you're on the highway a lot and don't tow anything, I would look at 4.10's. 4.56 if you tow occasionally, and 4.88 if you tow often. If you take it off road, I'd look into the 4.56 to get the lower torque and helps lessen the load off the drivetrain. Obviously, the higher size tire you go, the lower RPM you will have which will affect the way it'll accelerate. If you go 35's with 4.10's, you will essentially have the same performance you have with the 33's, and gain about 100rpm on highway speeds. If you keep the 33's with 4.10's, you'll lose about 150 RPM on highway speeds. So in a nutshell, it depends on what you're goal is for the truck. If you're on the highways all the time, run the 3.73's for a bit and if it affects you a ton, consider 4.10's. I feel 4.56 might be a bit too much for the daily commute. you'll be about 500-600 rpm higher on the cruise you have now. Keep in mind, you'll really want to tune the speedo. Most GM's govern at 98. your speedo will hit 98 when you're really doing 80 because of the gear change. Found that out the hard way... Couldn't remove it, so I raised it to 600mph. never had a problem since haha. The higher gearing you go, the lower fuel economy you'll get. I used to get 13, it went down to 9-10mpg with the 4.88.
@Sean R thank you for your help I think I will be going with the 4.56 just so I don’t have to redo my gears again after the lift and bigger tires. I appreciate the help
Awesome video...i have silverado 99 1500 on 6inch lift and 35's...thinking bout the 4.11 gears but im all for towing and thought bout 4.88...idc bout no gas mileage lol
@@SR-cp1eo thanks for the reply. im down to the invidia or milltek but cant decide between res and non. i suppose ill go res since i can always delete it after if i feel necessary.
@@MacLaw3084 I considered removing my resonator with the invidia. It has a great tone and made it an enjoyable experience. It's better to have a resonator and decide to delete later.
@@HioSSilver1999 Interesting. Not sure what to say. I don't know much about the later transmissions. I don't think they're the same internally. Still nearly indestructible. but you shouldn't be turning 2500 rpm doing 65mph. to me, that sounds like it's not locking up. Not too sure. also not going to pretend like I know everything because I really don't lol
@@SR-cp1eo im about 2500rpm at 70mph and almost 2000 at 60. With stock tires it was like 2700 at 70. Converter is locked. I have thought about going to 4.88. Have you pulled anything heavy yet?
@@HioSSilver1999 I did, 9800 lbs, did fine, but not gonna lie, it was still very underpowered. I think my 454 was tired. I feel like it didn't make too much of a difference. The only real difference was from a stop to 10mph. That's it. Everything else was about the same.
@@danielmwattsjr3671 gotthca. Yea It's not a cold air intake, it's the stock intake from the factory thats actually not bad at all. They way they engineered it is quite good and has even been underwater a few times with no issues haha
