I post art time lapses and the occasional tutorial. I love painting, and I especially love painting outdoors. I hope to encourage others to find their style, and freedom in watercolor!
Watching in real time was lovely. Don't get me wrong the time lapses are wonderful too. The real time just gave my brain that extra bit of time to see the"why" of it all. If that even makes sense. 😊
I really enjoy listening to you tell us what you're thinking and doing along the way. It's helpful knowing I'm not the only one struggling with little details --whether to put them in or leave them out. Your style is terrific! Thanks for this.
I get something helpful from each video you do. One pearl of wisdom I use Every time I do these is that I need to use shadows...even if they're not shown on a picture or not exactly accurate. Shadows just add so much life and personality to my urban sketching. I don't usually post my urban sketching because they don't seem very good. Maybe I should because no one seems to judge me as harshly as I do myself🙃
Thank you so much. Yes, shadows really do help bring a sketch to life! I know all about judging myself too harshly, and i've been told off in my comment section about it! You should definitely post your sketches! :)
I love love love your urban sketching, but I know you are fabulous at portraits and I love the style and finished portrait of all you do. I wonder if you might consider doing a watercolor portrait class?
I notice that you have Shell Pink in your palette; I purchased some from Mission Gold, but now can’t figure out how I can use it. Any tips for that one?
Love hearing your take on when you should’ve stopped adding more detail. As an amateur painter it’s something I’m trying to learn constantly - and it’s nice to know that a much more experienced painter sometimes struggles with that too!
So glad to see another video up! I love how you did this one and I appreciate your comments....not doing too much detail, deciding how much to outline, and whether to leave the tree sketched or painted. It's nice to hear someone thinking the same things I think when painting and/or sketching. Thank you.
Thank you, and I'm glad you liked the additional comments. I appreciate the feedback. I'm often unsure if I should leave out my thoughts in case people find it boring...but I know I would find it interesting to know what another artist is thinking!
This turned out so beautifully! I wonder if you might share the color combination you used to get the lovely dark leaves on the tree? I love the energy the tree adds to this piece!
So happy you're back! I love your style of urban sketching so much. I'd love if some of your urban sketch projects were available to purchase as prints!
Seriously fabulous! I am selfishly asking if you might be offering more classes or tutorials like the fish market? I learned a lot from that one but need a bit of help with perspective 🙃. Your style is still gorgeous❤
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you learned a lot from my tutorial! I've been thinking to make another tutorial, but was unsure on what topic. Perspective wise, do you have any specifics? ❤
@@KateBauerArt I wish I knew what I don’t know, but maybe it’s the way you shadow things or emphasis different bits. I am always second guessing my vantage point. Maybe something along the lines of ‘perspective for dummies’😊
Hi there, It is still available! The link should be at the top of the description box. But i'll post it here too: katebauerart.com/shop/product/urban-sketching-tutorial-downloadable-video/

I was just wondering if I might have confused the sketchbook paper you’re using? I was going to order the same sketchbook you have, but it says on Amazon that the paper is only 60 lbs.? That can’t be right, can it?
So happy to see you back with another awesome watercolor. I loved your tutorial. I highly recommend it if anyone is wanting to try your style of watercolor.
yes, I really love your style of sketching 😊 and true, finding nice music is really hard, and you will never make everyone happy in principle so just do what YOU like 😊have a great day @@KateBauerArt
