To those wondering what this is for, please check out the caption! Lots of info there. The first clips with the X are showing examples of when athletes don't go for balls that are around or slightly outside their defensive range. They've engrained a pattern of stopping themselves or don't know how to move to extended ranges (outside of midline balls), or something else! The second part shows actually moving to the ball. I'll have more posts on how to improve your defensive range in future posts! Hope this helps :)
I think he’s attempting to show how you can read a hitter, but doesn’t actually explain any of that. lol. Received this type of coaching plenty of times. Not helpful.
