72 day front lever progression 💪🏽 Here are 3 simple exercises that have got me this far. 1. Weighted pull ups - rep range 6-12 2. Dragon flags - to failure then tuck knees 3. L sits - til failure To hold it longer I will continue doing all 3 exercises but up the weight or length 💪🏽 #frontlever #calisthenics #pullups #weightedpullups #progression
For those who enjoyed this video… check out my latest vlog, this time it’s a 100 mile bike ride ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jVYfb4pdz9w.htmlsi=TR2nz_qV5s1FgSLA
A couple of Imodium tablets 1 hour before race start will sort the stomach issues. I used to have the same issues around mile 9/10 but once I started taking tablets, the issues stopped. Best wishes on the next run.
The rest of the other road users in UK also like it when you all go to a different country to do your cycling 👀 lol (Note all said in good fun no crying needed know how some people cant handle teasing these days 😂)
Is it really? Well coming from the west 95% of the roads were amazing apart from when we got into the city, they were not as tidy but they were certainly better than London.
@@rhysluxfordfit Well, as a Dutchman ive heard this about 50 times in my lifetime. Its like driving dakar rally. I never been in the UK so i cant really compare.
Ironically we were in the eu for almost 50 years and have always had shit roads, if they are responsible for our roads like you suggest its no wonder the majority wanted to leave 😂
I completed my first marathon 3 days ago with a very similar experience, stomach and shoe issues…you pushed through which was amazing! I know how it feels to not make your goal but still impressive…after all the prep it was hard for me to accept it and still working through the accomplishment…
Yes I do agree, especially when you put together a 12 week training camp, achieve PBs and turn up even when you don't want too. For then at the end to under deliver, its tough. But it makes the next one more exciting :)
I ran my first marathon in May (Rob Burrows Leeds Marathon). Had pretty much the exact same experience as you to a T. Aim of 3:45. First half marathon in 1:49. Then at the 25k mark horrific cramp and it was a struggle to even finish. Got it done in 4:41 through the cramp. Takes some serious willpower to get through that. Well done champ🫡
@@rhysluxfordfit Absolutely mate, going to do a half towards the end of the year and then potentially Manchester marathon 2025! Will take lessons from the cramp experience (as i’m sure you will) and implement them next time!
Good job. I know you were fighting to beat that 4 hrs at the end. Once you hit the "wall" you don't just slow down a little everything starts to shut down. You will train better next time and understand realistic pacing.
For a first marathon and with all the issues you had, you still got a sub 4! Amazing work and what you will have learned from your first will absolutely ensure that the next one you do will go so much smoother. I’ve done over 15 marathons now (I much prefer halves really) and can say that you never stop learning and tweaking things. Superb stuff and you did that the hard way! I would suggest giving Manchester a go. Did it for the first time this year and it’s a great flat fast course and so well supported and you could definitely meet any target goal you have on it. Atmosphere is great and I think you would fully enjoy. Again, well done Rhys- you showed how hard marathons are but also showed the determination and drive to get to the finish line too and didn’t edit out all the shitty feelings that you had during it (which we all get trust me, and I loved seeing the raw honesty of it) Brilliant video!
15 marathons! Wow. That’s is insanely impressive. Ok I will certainly look at Manchester. I would also like to try one abroad, I hear Amsterdam is flat and good for PBs. And thank you :) very kind to comment and I am really happy you enjoyed the video. Hopefully I can keep it up :) thanks again!
@@rhysluxfordfit I’ve done Amsterdam. It was my first ever marathon as I wanted to pick something flat for my first and away from the UK in case I collapsed or made an ass of myself and so no-one would know who I am 😂. I actually did it 3 times as I enjoyed the event so much. You start and finish in the Olympic stadium too which is superb! Definitely recommended!
Your pain may just be my gain. Doing my first marathon in a few weeks (Australia) Also aiming for a sub 3:30. Couple of take aways for me from your vid - start at slower pace than target pace. Pop a Imodium tablet. Thanks mate and well done!
Absolutely love it! Glad I can help 1 person from my mistakes :) if you can remember please drop a message here, I’d be keen to hear how you got on! Best of luck, you’ll smash it
Congratulations man, marathons are hard as it is and testing but that Milton Keynes 1 was next level was intense very twisty tight course with multiple hills. Much like countryside running down by that canal and through the country roads few dodgy speedbumoa along the way and that weird looped course. I ran it to was such experience finishing in no dons stadium was awesome. You done well getting through that mate and respect with the time may not be what you wanted but still a strong time to be proud off in a 1st marathon. Mk was my 2nd ran London 2 years previous and I ran a 12 minute PB at Milton Keynes 4:31:29 in the clock for me in the end
Thank you man! When I signed up to the MK marathon, I was under the impression it was an easy one. But when I got closer to it, many people told me it’s certainly not the easiest one to do 😂. And nice, glad to hear you are still committing to more marathons, many people never do one again, maybe due to the trauma 😂. Thanks for commenting :)
Well done getting to the finish. Marathons arnt easy and they don't get any easier with an injury but take pride that you decided to keep going anyway. My ankle went at 23 miles at Edinburgh and I had the same decision to make and I think that's the biggest plus I took away is that I didn't give up. Always another marathon to enter.
I love this Kevin! You certainly made the right decision, even if you have to limp the rest of the way. Great work and thank you for commenting, I’m glad you enjoyed the video :)
Lol, woo my first hate! love it. 9:54 "need to stretch". I stretched every time whilst the cameras were off, even laying on the floor at times. Clearly you've never experienced real cramping because stretching doesn't stop it, it just delays it coming back. You weapon 🙂
It's the most realistic video I've seen. Thank you for sharing. Running a marathon is a challenge. But you finished and that in itself is an huge accomplishment.
Agreed - as a 7-time marathoner (9 if you include me doing the course "for fun" not during race day) - I think this is the most realistic depiction of what it's like to do a marathon. I am still learning with each one I complete! Rhys, I'm sure your next will be so much more pleasant.
I've done that marathon (a fair few years ago) but I remember it was a damn tough course. Well done, the marathon is never an easy feat and you never know what the race will present on the day.
Fair play Rhys with overcoming all those issues! And a sub 4 first marathon is excellent. I had a recent bout of runner’s diarrhoea to the point that I had to run all my runs very near home as I never knew when I’d need an emergency toilet stop. Very annoying isn’t it? Totally spoiled my running. As you say - you know what you need to eat. There are some great carb loading videos out there - I use one guy’s method religiously and have never suffered in a race with bad guts as a result. Hope the bike went well.
Hey Conrad! Yes I have do the same thing, or at least make sure I am running by some Forrest’s 😂 I would prefer running over cycling if I didn’t have these toilet issues, so it does totally spoil the running experience. Do you mind sharing who this person is, I’d check them out. And yes the cycle went well, was super tough, not as fast as last year but stay tuned currently editing the vlog :)

Here from a suggested algorithm, congrats on finishing. Personally, i had to cut back on my fiber content, especially the day before a really long run. I also pop an immodium before a race if things are feeling suspicious 😂 Try to experiment with your food intake, unfortunately some of us, just have that issue.
Hey :) thanks for watching and commenting! I am glad the algorithms are working then haha. Well I did actually record what foods I have taken out my diet and fibre a couple days before was one of them, also no more coffee and of course alcohol, but didn’t want to make the video too long. Never tried Imodium, do you actually think it works? And are there any side effects that could affect your performance? Gotta love the topic convo we are having 😂
@rhysluxfordfit I have had decent success with it, it's an American brand maybe? Anything like it would work, it's just an anti diarrheal over the counter pill here. The only side effect is it can slow your digestive tract down a bit and you may need an extra day to get uh "moving" again 😂 Good luck though, you already seem to be eliminating the right things to help 👍
Hey man, there is always ups and downs, recover physically and mentally and let's go again! Great video, love to see the reality of running not just fake success stories
Thank you man, I wanted to make it as real as possible!. And for sure, the next day came and I literally wanted to do another one. But I actually would like to try a trail running ultra, that excites me a lot. Thanks for commenting 💪🏽
Thank you bro! Yes a lot was different, I certainly took the marathon a lot more serious with food, diet and training. I will put a video together soon on this topic! 💪🏽
