Recorded in Montreal and Connecticut with producer Peter Katis (The National, Japandroids, Jonsi), There Is No Love In Fluorescent Light marks the first time the band shared creative control with someone outside the group. Lyrically, it veers into a world inhabited by characters that have lived inside Stars songs for almost twenty years: a place where people do desperate things in the name of love, a place where the cruelty and coldness of the technological world we live in often smashes up against the frailties of the human heart.
II just wonder... how they wrote this kind of lyrics?? This is one of the most emotional and real lyrics in the entire world... I can see the picture, and I can feel what the character feels... deep sorrow and the inevitable. Stars are the band of the common people, with common feelings and needs. I love you Amy, such an underrated singer.

Summertime as a teenager was always magic when you turned on the radio. Everything glowed in Technicolor... even being in the moment in 2013 was nostalgic 📻
Today is the anniversary of Paul MacLeod's death. He played in The Skydiggers for a while and he was a friend of mine. I think Paul would have loved this song and probably would have played it live. The refrain "I know they're really gone" kills me every time because it's true. Loving someone is inherently a brave act because we accept the fact that eventually we'll have to say goodbye to them because we are all gonna lose this game called life, but we do it anyway. As dark as Paul could get sometimes and despite the fact he ultimately succumbed to his illness, I'd like to believe he understood that too. I hope he's ok wherever he is. RIP my friend😥
My favorite song tbh. It relates to me personally. I lost someone to subside and this song reminds me of them so much. Best song and it makes me cry. Found it like 2 or 3 years ago and upset i didn't find it earlier then that. Such an amazing song

I used to adore this song when I was 13. I’ve been looking for it ever since and I just found it again. I’m 29 now and it’s just as lovely as I remember.
