I've been listening to Stars since Nightsongs, and introduced my partner around 2011. We both agree that Capleton Hill is your best album yet, and this song is the best on the album. It captures the feeling of going back to your childhood hometown after years of being away. You had planned to be gone only for a short time, and somehow expected everything to be the same when you got back, but life didn't pause as you assumed it would. The buildings are all there, just a little more rundown; a few landmarks have been replaced with something modern, boxy, and soulless. It feels like an old jacket you hung on a coat hook, but now it doesn't go with anything you own so it remains there, stuck in time and memory. This song is like a love letter to the nostalgia of the past and an admittance that things have moved on without you, leaving you with a sense of urgency to capture what little time you have left. Really dig this, it hits hard in so many ways. ❤️
I discovered Stars in 2010 when I heard Wasted Daylight on the radio. I looked up the album and The Five Ghosts gripped me (including B-sides tracks). I've been following ever since. I really hope to see ya'll live someday (Northern Nevada or Sacramento) but I will continue enjoying your masterpieces as you continue releasing such amazing music.
Most bands release a few good albums at the start of their careers and invariably get shittier & shittier as they mature. Stars buck this trend releasing music that gets better and better as they continue. The quality control is sublime. Part of me feels selfish. I want Stars for myself - but I would so love for Stars to get both the recognition and sales they so deserve. I love you Stars! So so much..
This needs to blow up! is there a tab I can learn for this song? I know so many people who would love this song im surprised it has this low a view count for how amazing it issssss!!!!
