The more i ride The Minebuster the more i realize it is on borrowed time. It is a historical favorite, and really was better with a bar restraint, shared bench seatbelt, no seat divider and 3 glorious camel hills after the drop instead of 2. Today it is obviously blocking expansion and development of splashworks. In order to fit a second pool or fast river ride or water coaster....The Minebuster must sadly go :( Hopefully a new woodie is built prior to its end. Enjoy it in 2025, i believe the clock may be ticking on this ride for the development reasons above.
This was one of my favorite rides at SFGAm even though it was pretty rough. You could see this enormous steel ride miles away from the park. I remember how much I loved driving up to SFGAm and seeing Shockwave greet guests with its intense layout.
It had a couple rough transitions and uncomfortable restraints, but the ride was iconic. It took the first few loops at lightning speed and the swooping first drop stood like a monument by the front gate. Replacing a pure adrenaline machine like this with an uninspired flying coaster was a crime.
The best first drop in the history of wooden coasters…Did you notice..Not one person held up their hands on the 1st drop!😂😂😂…Thank you John Pierce for this epic drop..I will forever remember our conversations!!
That second half loops brutal with how quick it was going. Also did it use to run 3 trains? I was always curious as to why it has a midcourse. Unless that was just there to help dispatch the next train quicker with 2 train ops
I worked at Busch gardens on this very ride. Despite it being considered a "kiddie" ride, I had guys who were built like linebackers tell me it was the scariest ride in the park because of the hairpin turns. I had ridden this coaster so many times, I was able to take a short nap while riding it. Lol
Wow this footage is honestly amazing, i wish that busch gardens would turn off those trims on the mid course, that could excel alpengeist to be the best invert in the world.
I've always had a sense of regret about not getting to ride this one as it was still under construction when I visited the park for the second time in 2001. I live about 2 hrs in between carowinds and kings dominion so Fury and Intimidator 305 keeps me pretty busy but I would have loved to ride this 1.
This was the first roller coaster I ever rode. It was our family's first time ever being at a big amusement park. I was seven, so it had to be some time in the spring or summer of 1993. It was the first coaster we saw and I immediately lit up. My mom and my older brothers didn't want to ride it, so it was just me and my dad. We sat right up front, just like I wanted. One of my favorite memories, hands down.
