I had a bad right one for a while but it never made any growl sound like people says,more like a metal/grinding sound that could be very heard FROM outside with windows open (very noticable with sound reverbs against a wall or parked cars) the only time i knew it was really going bad is when it made squeaky sounds then 3 bolts broke and wheel was shaking like crazy....Now my left wheel seems to be doing the same sound but i dont get any growl or anything at high speed..which is confusing....

Hmm, I think this is the noise I am trying to trace on my 82,000 mile 2012 Peugeot 508 2.0 Diesel, which is the same engine as the Volve in this video I think. The noise of mine is more subtle, but I am getting a bit of that engine rattle at startup and turning it off, not as extreme as in this video though.

It can be primary signs, and for that volvo repair was somewhat delayed, you shouldn't drive car with sounds like that 😅

Why don't you just sandblast it and then prime it?
@Work_G
@Work_G Месяц назад
It is an option, but sandblasting usually makes surface rough and if you want nice finish you need lot of primer or still sand by hand. Thats why sandblasting usually goes with powder coating

@Work_G
@Work_G Месяц назад
I would recommend a good clean and grease, it would probably be a good idea to replace the brushes, but only after disassembly you can tell if you really need to. Here I leave link to my video about most common bad starter sounds ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f7bTSm-sHBk.html Depending on noise cleaning may not be enough

It’s not a rebuilt it is just a cleanup? While you were at it I would have changed the contacts in the solenoid/relay, it is what fails first, typically. On my Toyota Sienna it’s $6 to $16 depending on how many parts you charge (just one contact to two contacts + plunger). The brushes seemed ok. They are the second point of failure.
@Motorionis
@Motorionis Месяц назад
problematic starters that wont move forward OR arent spinning, can often be brought back to like with soem knocks on the relay that is in the housing. HOWEVER this should not be considerd a fix and is only for emergency uses! and dont hit it hard, it is still a cast part!

Ok that was a great video but.....he used nice 12 gauge wire for the factories to the line voltage converter which he probably didnt need but 16 or even 20 gauge on and then he used 16 gauge to go to the sub?????🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️. Then the part where black was positive and red was ground? Thats just not good practice lol. Otherwise though that vid was done really well!!!

@@Work_G Unfortunately for you it's basically a dead industry in the West. Unless you are an engineer working with CAD and Bots, you're never going to be involved in anything of interest. However, people do spend big on their car stereo systems nowadays. Sometimes more than the 'go fast' items. Working at a 'high end' Car Audio place would make for a great first job, while you're putting yourself through Uni!
