Lost over 100lbs in less than a year when I was 17. Now I have abs and would say just by slimming down, it changed my life and the way I'm treated. The halo effect is real. I thought I'd be fat and ugly forever, but you have to realize that in your life, you're the only one who can make your life what you want it to be. 12% is spot on and statistically most people underestimate how fat they are, even lean people. I had the benefit of having my body fat tested when I had an eating disorder. I was 11.2% body fat based on the test (after gaining 5 lbs) and I had model tier hollow cheeks. Fast forward 9 years and I’m nearly as lean but 20 lbs heavier because I’ve weight trained for 9 years and the hollow cheeks are back although I’m about 14% body fat and they aren’t as prominent as before. I’ll probably need 12-13% body fat to get the same aesthetic affect. Only about a 3 lbs cut from where I am now. But do NOT underestimate the iportance of 1-2% body fat when you’re lean. It’s the difference between hollow cheeks and a 6 pack vs only the outline of both. Difference between 12% vs 14/15% is large.
