Hi RU-vid! If you think about cars and trucks 24/7/365 like I do then we should be friends. Please consider subscribing and join me as I document my crazy car journey (25 plus cars in the last 10 years) I’ll give advice on buying cars as well as a review from time to time.
Good call getting that Instead of the new Tacoma, I traded my 23 Tacoma for the 4R.. zero regrets! by the way what tint percentage do you have? Looks great
4 Runner was my dream vehicle when I was a teen. Still want one and will probably get one this year as a car I can go into retirement with. Hopefully I can get one before the 4 turbos come out soon. We shall see.
I have the 2020 version Club with the same SRC paint and Recaros. I'm glad subsequent years have gotten improvements, but mine has so many mods that have improved the OEM offering, that I'm not sure the new models would be better. It's my fifth Miata and after nearly a million miles, I still can't wait to drive it.
Bought the exact same one in midnight blue two days ago. Hummed and hawed over the waiting for the Gen 6 but went for this given how the new Tacomas aren’t selling… a possible glimpse into the future of the 4Runner.
Very nice MX5. A couple of questions for you: are you noticing an excessive amount of chips in the paint? I’m reading about some who say the paint is thin on Mazdas and it doesn’t take much to chip the paint. I’m sure it may have something to do with how low it sits too. Next question, have you had an opportunity to drive the car for a few hours at a time? Just wondering if the Recaro seats are reasonably supportive/comfortable after an extended road trip.
Hi- not many paint chips in 5k miles. IMO ppf in my area at least is pretty pricey. I don’t think it’s worth it but with that being said if you want your car looking like new then it could be. I don’t mind a few chips so the 2k or so dosent seem worth it to me. The seats are great! I’m a big guy- 6’2” 225 lbs and I have no problem for a couple hours. I probably wouldn’t want to road trip it but it could be done for sure. Probably even more so if you’re a smaller person. Hope this helps
Hi- it was around 48 and I paid 45. My state taxes are 6.25% so around 48k all in. Not cheap but I bet it’s about 10k less than what a 6th gen will cost.
Have a 23 in lunar rock. It’s my pre retirement vehicle. You should do a early oil change. Did mine at 700 km. Ans wow so much metal…. Another at 1300 and a little. And another at 2500 and no metal.
Just bought a new exact same model - long time toyota fan and this is probably my favorite car ive ever had. Me personally I would keep the miata. Mustang is a nice car but I keep coming back to japanese cars.
I bought it from Rusty Drewing Toyota in Jefferson City MO. Good luck with your search! Maybe with the 6th gen finally announced there will be some deals on these 24’s
You love to see it. I have a 2016 Toyota 4Runner Trail Edition that I bought new in June 2017. I now have over 194K miles on the ODO and, as one could predict, this vehicle has been nothing short of rock solid. I would like to get a 2nd vehicle but my 4Runner has showed no signs of slowing down. I can't see myself getting rid of mine any time soon.
I want a manual again for my next vehicle, and I’m kinda going back and forth between a Miata and a manual Integra A-Spec. It’s going to be my daily driver, but my partner has a practical vehicle so that’s always there if I need it. Tough decisions 🥵. I’m still a few years out from getting my next vehicle as I just bought my current vehicle, but it still weighs on me LOL.
As much as I love my Miata for me personally I don’t think I could or want to daily it. Just my opinion of course as I know people who do it. Thanks for watching and good luck with with your search
Wow! Your '23 Miata video was suggested to me by RU-vid so I decided to watch it. Early in that video you mentioned your 4Runner - my jaw dropped. I own a '19 4Runner and a '23 Miata with the exact same specs as yours... just different colors. Great vehicles!
You forgot to mention that your package includes the brembo brakes. I have the same car in gray (2021 model year)…..soul red is terrific. If there’s a choice between this and a mustang-def keep the Miata. We’ve had some overlaps….I’ve also owned two brzs and now a gr86. A 2022 civic si and a 2013 boxster s (2013 mt)….not quite a cayman but very similar as you know. I will say - if your brz was a gen 1 - the current model’s shifter is every bit as good as the Miata’s. Both are the equal of the 981 boxster For your Miata I will suggest a couple mods that I did: 1. New leather shift/ebrake boots. 2. Mx5 things phone holder (fits in the cup holder slot near passenger seat. 3. Rexpeed steering wheel (oem is too thin). Those tweaks have made a great car better. I also buy/sell too many cars. Think I’ll keep the club for a while! Enjoy
Sounds like you have had some great cars as well! I did enjoy the brz but for me the Miata is the sweet spot. I’m a convertible guy so that’s probably a big reason. The brz is a better daily though imo.
I just bought my 4th 4Runner(2024). I was in an accident with my 2017 last week. Let me tell you, it kept me safe. Airbags hurt but it did what it was suppose to do. I also got almost all of the money I paid for it back in 2017. Welcome to the 4Runner family. Best vehicle out there and worth the money!!
45k before taxes, maybe. I'm sure you were close to 50 after tax, title, registration, and the dealer's ridiculous "documentation fee." I hate the process of buying a car, but I'll be buying the same exact truck very soon. A 2023, lightly used. Nautical Blue, hopefully. There aren't many around. Enjoy yours! It's good we aredoing this now, before the stupid 4 cylinder 4Runner era hits next year.
I paid $48,000 OTD for my 2024 TRD ORP with moonroof, TRD skid plate, All Weather Mats and iPhone cables. I spent 2 hours negotiating. Dealers make money after the purchase by selling extended warranties and other items. I got $5,529 off of MSRP and over $6k that the dealer had marked up with nonsensical items.
@@MikesCarObsession nice!!! my dad is chickening out and has to get another tacoma for firewood and stuff but i got my off road premium a couple days ago and i love it
@@mikes.8823 nice I’m glad you’re enjoying it! I had a Tacoma before, great trucks. With a kiddo though I definitely need the bigger back seat area. Congrats on your 4runner
congrats! i have a 2005 with V8 but in 2wd and im shopping around probably getting a 2020 to 2024 in about six months. does the navigation need service or a monthly payment?
Ran across your video because I just bought the same exact 4 Runner even the same color you have. Funny thing is my other car is a red Miata! I had to laugh 🙂
My garage is similar. 4Runner TRD Off-road Premium and the exact same Miata as well as a 19 Subaru STI. The 4Runner and STI are great in the PNW winters.
I live in Fort Worth, bought the same car you have last week, same color, same everything, except mine is the RF. I have never had so much fun in a 4 wheel vehicle as I'm having in my Miata! I've also never got so many compliments on a 4 wheel vehicle. That red, with the black accents that come with the Club/Brembo/Recaro package, is beautiful.
Did you have any trouble getting it? I just got one myself but it took me 6 months to get it. I put the order down in July of last year and finally picked it up in January.
Your video helped me decide for red; ordering a Club w/BBR shortly. And after being told I wouldn't fit (6'0" 220#), I found it easier than my 982 Boxster T to get in & out of; sill height and ground clearance are higher in the Miata. No issues w/leg room or headroom at all in the soft top. By the way, the 6M in the BT is excellent, higher effort than Miata, and similar precision, my experience. Thanks for the detailed walk though.
I have the exact same car, but mine is '21 and it's my 4th Miata. I like the driving experience, but after owning Miatas for the last 27 years I'm not impressed with the drop in build quality of the car.
@@MikesCarObsession I have 20k miles on my car. The Recaro seats already have cracks in the leather, the soft top has a bunch of wear marks on it and the stitching on it is coming apart. I am going to take it in to see if they will replace the top before it's out of warranty. Right now my hood latch is loose so it rattles, the steering wheel leather comes off if you look at it wrong, and with all the reports of transmission issues I don't want to track it or do any autocross. Getting PPF on the entire front end is pretty much a requirement with this new water based paint as it chips so easily. Then there is the AC lines cracking issue that doesn't seem to have fix from Mazda. Never had any of these concerns with my other Miatas. I love driving the car, but I'm not confident in it's long term reliability. I used to say Miatas were bulletproof...I don't anymore.
