i had a 2010 smcwhich also leaked fuel at the gas cap especially when you're wide open throttle. LOL. I sold that 2010 to buy a 790 Duke. I kid you not that thing bored me after 6 months despite having 50 more HP. Sold the 790 and went back to a 690. Now im on a 15' 690 enduro with sumo wheels it doesn't leak fuel at the cap. :) I think it's worth updating the fuel cap parts to the next generation parts.
I have a 2011 ABS model for about a year as well, I've done around 8000 KM on it, long rides - it took me over a Balkan Tour with several countries, it's a jack of all trades type of machine - I really enjoy the grunt, it feels like a diesel powered tractor - easy to wheelie and fool around but certainly didn't had a problem carrying me and a passanger for very long rides (500-600km / day) with baggages and all that. The only thing I would like for it to have is more top speed as mine tops out at around 200KM/h - but it gets there fast enough to put a grin on your face everytime! Certainly not a beginner bike, it's my 5th KTM, had a few EXC supermotos and 690 SM's as well - riding for almost 20 years now. I would like to trade the 990 for a 1290 but probably I'll keep this one for another year or two as I really enjoy it! Greetings from Bucharest, Romania!
Salut, Apreciez review-ul oferit mai sus. Sunt interesat de acest model. Aș fi curios să aflu care ar fi consumul real l/100km în funcție de stilul de condus? Mersi anticipat.
I have the '13 XCW. . .pretty much kitted out just like yours. I have the 4 gal Acerbis tank though, and a rekluse clutch. Love that bike! Best light DS I've ever had. . .cant imagine anything better tbh. Great on tough trails too.
For sure. I sold this bike a few months ago since I wasn't riding enough to justify keeping it. Definitely one of the top DS bikes, even by today's standards.
Hello, how are you, do you have a question? I have a drz 400 sm 2008 with Big bore with wiseco piston and JT cylinder, kibblewhite valves and new springs but I need new cams.
@@NormanSalazar-pi4do Stage 1 for more off-road riding, Stage 2 for more road riding. AFAIK stage 1 gives more low-end torque and stage 2 gives more top end. You could just get some E-cams, that are similar to stage 1. Any cams you use shouldn't affect durability. Have fun!
Sold this one awhile back to try something different. I drank the orange kool-aid and now I'm hooked. KTMs are pretty hard to beat if you like flogging bikes.
Never haha. If the bike is running fine leave it alone. If it becomes hard to start you might want to check the valve clearances. Otherwise just ride it. The DRZ head is very well designed.
@@guitarhawaii Sometimes it takes a couple cranks to start after it's been warmed up and then sits for a half hr or so , but if it sits all night it cranks right over .
This your bike is so nice. My bike had big end failure at 11 thousand miles 💔. I'm rebuilding and going 434 because of your video. Can I use the e model base gasket with my big bore kit ??. Thanks alot Brother 🤜🤛✊💨🏁🤘
Thanks! Yes, you can use the 'e' base gasket, but it raises the compression to 12:1, so I'd recommend using higher octane (premium) fuel if you go that route.
Yah they're pretty common. Bikes in general are quite a bit pricier than in the US, so unless you have tools and can find a fixer upper they're going to cost around 3-4 grand.
Gave mine a little more preload on the rear to put a little more weight on the front.head shake gone even at 102 mph.oh and all the way on compression and about five clicks off from max on rebound all around too.those two things eliminated the head shake and it was bad before.im 5'9 165 lbs if that matters.thanks for posting, been getting all the info I can about big bore kit before I do it.
