Hello! Almost all chairs the kit is compatible with. 95% off all office chairs use the same size and style cylinder so most likely it will work for your office chair. If you purchased it, and for some reason it didn't fit, we'd gladly provide you with a full refund :)
Sink the chair all the way down, then invert the chair 180 degress and rotate the base a few times, let press the lever and let it extend, turn the base a few more times then put the chair right side up again. It lets the oil in cylinder re coat the seal.
this is what i did. wipe the metal part below the chair. then used masking tape (cant find duct) then use tightened the hose clamp to the same location as demonstrated. at first i thought wow. it works. was seated in the chair for ard 10 mins and not sinking. then ard the 11th min down it went. may i ask what i did wrong please? any tips from any1 will be appreciated
Hi there! It's possible that the hose clamp was not tight enough and/or it was slipping down the cylinder with that masking tape you mentioned. The most important part with the hose clamp method is to ensure it really grips the cylinder piston, if not it won't work properly. That being said, you can always try one of the other two methods mentioned in the video.
This tutorial was extremely handy! I read reddit threads about others who have pounded on their chair cylinders for hours, unable to get separate it from the base. I used this video's tricks, and disassembled 2 chairs in 10 minutes. Cheers!
My chair has been annoyingly sinking and I was looking for an easy fix method. So glad I stumbled on this video. I will definitely try out the easy fixes. Thanks for this video.
Hey @jDawg608, sorry to hear that! Feel free to reach out to us at support@theofficeoasis.com and we'd be happy to provide you with a full refund. We can also give you some more detailed support/instructions if you are up for it. Let us know!
No no no no no. How did this get recommended? On pistons there is a piston ring. These can dry out and they slowly leak air. Almost always to fix this add a couple drips of oil. Move the chair up and down, turn it side to side. It might ACTUALLY be broken but it's probably fine after a little maintenance! Ya welcome
Haven't used the tool yet. Plan to after work but this is the gold standard of equipment tutorial. No music. none of that caption garbage. And no still frame transitions
You need to be patient and use lubricants! If you follow instructions will work! My office chair is way better than when I bought brand new! I got tall cylinder only cost $19 + tool kit included at Amazon! Very comfortable! 🤝👍
If you have no tools and nearly zero energy: Move the chair to the height you want - mine is all the way up - then wrap any kind of tape on the shaft so that the seat cannot move down. Wind it thick. I used old masking tape, then blue painters tape, then a couple layers of duct tape, making it thick so the seat cannot move down. The tape hardly shows at all, and it took me about 5 minutes.
Thank you so much. I have a hydraulic ordered for my chair, but as a temporary fix until it gets here.... the duct tape and clamp is working wonders. Thank you so much. Its even holding as a bigger fella.
Remove the metal clip on the bottom and take the cylinder out and spray the rod with WD40. You actually want to do this around every 6 months. Don't know why this works but it's been working on every chair I have fixed for this problem for 35 years. Was thinking about using synthetic lithium grease next time.
Hi. Can you help me please. My chair not sinking. It’s rising. And I have no idea what to do. Or if you know who can fix in Miami Florida even better. Thank you
Trust me --- NOTHING else works. By the way, they now sell the puller cylinders separately, in case you need a specialty cylinder not available from this seller. That is new since the last time I looked.
My work was throwing away an old office chair. They never told me why but I asked if I could have it and they gave it to me for free. Found out the chair would slowly sink as I was sitting in it. Bought the cylinder kit and it worked like a charm. I later looked up the chair model and learned that the chair was around $300. I feel like a got a crazy bargain.
Third time is a charm! It worked just like the video said! I used sandpaper on pole before putting on the clamps... and then it worked great! Super Product and very helpful video!
Most people throw away good but unneeded computer chairs so the cylinder can easily be replaced for free if you grab it before the trashman does! Tried and true and easiest/cheapest method, just not guaranteed you’ll find one EVERY trash night.
