Aquarela do Brasil" is one of more popular Brazilian songs of all the times written by the Brazilian composer Ary Barroso in 1939. The samba was recorded by several artists as Carmen Miranda and Frank Sinatra. Also the Brazilian singers Caetano Veloso, Erasmo Carlos, Elis Regina and Toquinho recorded this beautiful song.
Where did you get that chic? You did very good in this movie, there is an epidemic in this world, we should all relate to; currently, I am working on planetary defense. I wanted to chose you, but your outfits were too skimpy-It should be conservative. But, you have a power in your acting and the world should be appreciative. Lisa
People in Oklahoma don’t ever , would never pronounce formaldehyde, “for-mal-dee-hide” the way they did. They do however pronounce it, “ for-mal-duh-hide”. With drawn out emphasis on the, “duh” and “I” in hide, for instance. As to whether the southern twang is as thick as they represented, that depends on where the listener is from. People from Oklahoma laugh when they hear the accents used. I’ve always admired Meryl for her accents in her movies. After Silkwood I then had to question how authentic any seemed to people from the regions represented .
I know what you mean, I've asked every person in OK too - none of them say it that way. And I'm sure it wasn't Mike Nichols' choice to go with that pronunciation in order to make fun of Dolly's girlfriend and thus establish a bonding moment between the 2 characters. 🙄
Throughout this whole movie, Karen and Dolly have this silent understanding that Dolly is in love with Karen. I know this part of the story is fictional but my heart breaks for Dolly :( Great subtle acting by both of them
I'm crushed that I can't rewatch Silkwood and Mask now that I'm older. I really am grieved by the loss of these absolute masterpieces. Not shown in the US.
They're both great actresses. What amazes me about Meryl Streep is she can play any type of character known to man. Her duplications of accents is just as amazing as her acting.
