In 2018, we made the 4,000-mile flight from Florida to Alaska with nothing but our bags. We sold our house and possessions to pursue a self-sufficient dream. We landed in a dry tiny cabin for six months until we purchased our beautiful Homestead in Fairbanks, AK. We face new challenges each day and have learned to embrace our life in the Last Frontier.

Never had them before…. Hope to come to Alaska Labor Day weekend . Was coming up next weekend through 4th week. Wife blew a gasket. She at our house in Missouri. I’m in Washington state where I’m originally from last year and half working. Plan to move there I hope. Missouri to hot and buggy for me. Been there years ago. But at 58 time running out for off grid cabin by a creek. Live out my last days.

When I had Quail, i was getting around 170+ eggs per week, it came to a point that I was just giving the eggs away!!! Now, I cant eat a Quail egg to save my life!!!!!!
Awesome quail setup ❤ If/When y'all want chickens, you know where to come. The ones we have are great. We thought about cows, but they are just too darn expensive for upkeep. Still thinking of a few goats eventually. We need to finish getting the pigs totally set up first. Have a blessed weekend.

There is a reason we Fairbanksans call it 'Los Anchorage'. Has all the same problems of a major city in the lower 48 but with better scenery. As for myself ,I only go there out of necessity. I've been in Fairbanks for 28 years and everytime I've gone to Anchorage, it s visibly more run-down and more crowded than my previous visit....crime has escalated through the roof as there is very serious drug problem in all of the state but much worse in the Matsu Valley/Anchorage area and the effects are visible.
We are heading to Alaska really soon... Been off grid in rural Oregon and getting run off our property by the county so the only way to go is north where we can be left alone.

You are ahead of the game and my husband and I are behind. He is having cataract surgery finally Friday. He can't see well enough to do much of anything. Then in 2 weeks he gets the other eye done. Then we will be able to rock and roll. If I may ask please pray everything goes well with his eye surgeries. 🙏 We have small gardens but they provide enough for us.
