Hey buddy, good to see your back uploading content! Hope that drone shoot went good, Hoping to send my thunder to you in the next week or so for that repair. Got to get my finances, right! This was a really good video. Lots of good information as always look forward to seeing the next one.
@@MattysRCWorld I feel your pain brother, that's why I modified a Traxxas slipper assembly to fit the Thunder, check in the other subs comment, I left links for the parts, thanks for watching
@@MattysRCWorld you'll enjoy the Thunder, it's a great budget truck. Check Scorched Rc for parts, it's just a rebranded FTX carnage and they stock everything you need.
That's so funny you just uploaded this video, I literally just broke ANOTHER spur gear...damn plastic. I guess I'm gonna grab the metal spur gear on amazon

@@mr.magick4185 went from a 17t stock pinion to a 22t and gained 19.8 mph with no other changes. Stock 65t spur. The gear ratio isn't optimum being almost 3:1 tho, went to a small spur on my dedicated speed run truck, 4 different, modified traxxas slipper clutch assembles, all with different spur gears
I have another question, what are the specs when shopping for new pinion gears? 😂😂 I have ordered like 3 different times and they never fit, im no expert (obviously) when it comes to gear tooth pitch, please let me know, i might be interested in upping the speed of mine a bit, thanks, keep up the good work.
Hey there, i noticed you have those wide road tires on it, i think i got the same off aliexpress, do they rub on the hubs/arms for you? I ended up getting wider hex to be able to run them, only used them a couple of times cause i broke the rear diff, got a different set of tires later.

Absolutely! My entire family graduated from the capstone! My oldest daughter just graduated law school last year! I know exactly where Daphne is, been there many time's, I was born in Brookwood, been in GA over 20 year's but I'm moving back home in about 5 more years.! #ROLLTIDE!
So just those clips fixed most of the slop? You think I might be good with just that? You still happy with the fix after a few runs in it? Great fix man! You have the best HBX 2997a running mods for sure!
@@BriansRCStuff yes sir, the washers also helped. Still running straight for now, well I hope, I'm out of town and if my daughter hasn't crashed it then it should be 😆
@@BriansRCStuff nah, not the best by far, yours has been more consistent and stable. That truck is a handful at 60+ mph ,period ,no matter who is driving it or owns it , IMHO.
Hope I'm not bothering but, guess what I did the night after watching this video. If it's ok to ask where are you getting the extra CVDs from. The only ones I can find are set made by fyf racing. I hit a raised tire groove on an oil field truck turnaround. She did cartwheels for about 10 feet. Bent the driver's side. Like you said, she wasn't even going fast 😅
71 mph? And you still had throttle left! That's just insane. This is another great informative video. I appreciate you taking your time to post stuff like this buddy. It really helps a lot of people out. Keep your head up. Don't sweat the small stuff. Some people are just garbage.
Sucks you have to deal with the RU-vid drama. Seems to happen to all the good channels. I'm starting to make small modifications and would like to know if you stopped the wheels from wobbling. The nuts are tight and I didn't see room for shims. Is it just the plastic joints?
@@wingtyrant yes, that's a problem with the stock factory knuckles and joints, I was able to fit some plastic washer on the inside of the knuckles and rear joints, where the dog bones and CVD's go into the knuckles and that helped alot but I ended ordering some aluminum upgrades for my dedicated speed truck and that solved that issue. I appreciate your support! Ty
@@RCrepairAndBuilds Ty. I'm hoping to "race" mine at a Houston track just for giggles one day. What class are these, stadium truck, monster truck, buggy if I put the right shell?
I like this channel and hope everything works out for you . Why someone would make a fuss about a picture is beyond me but I do know that channel is fairly new and saw it when they came out with the mjx 10208 vid . Everything will work out .👍
Can you do a video on tightening the slipper clutch I’ve been have problems with my thunder, ever time I tighten it still slips even after I tightened it completely
@@Sirrmike I will but if you tighten the slipper all the way down and it still slips then the little clutch pads inside are worn out but I'll try and do a video on taking that apart soon, really busy at work right now so bare with me. Thanks for the support
Try flipping the pads over if it’s possible . It works on arrma 3s . I think they tighten the clutch just until the back wheels start to skid when rolling . With the screwdriver in the adjustment roll fed and when the back wheels grab and don’t move it’s good . Like he said if it’s tightened all the way and won’t do the skid thing they’re worn . Take it apart and flip em over . Might get you through a while 👍. Good luck brother . I don’t know everythjng but I remember ajjam mentioning this trick and seen for sure that’s how they adjust it on the arrmas being it’s kinda the same build on the thunder .
@@RCrepairAndBuilds I tried it still nothing do you have any recommendations to where I can find the slipper Pads I looked on the legendary site and they didn’t find anything
@@Sirrmike Scorched RC parts. The LAEGENDARY is just a rebranded FTX carnage, look on Scorched Rc website for parts for the FTX carnage or on Google, you may find them closer than the UK.
You're still number one in my book don't let them push you around you have every right to be on RU-vid and your loyal fans will always support you anyways keep up the good work Buddy
@@mr.magick4185 the truck in this video sitting on the table isn't my speed run truck, it has smaller tires and a 50t spur and 22 pinion for now, I have several gearing sets ready for it. 👍
4S max on those legendary cvds. I will be waiting on those cvds you're talking about. I will give you a tip for not bending the shafts so easily when crashing. Those turnbuckles have to be changed to something more durable. I use heavy duty stainless steel tire rods and chamber links, now only the part with the threads are able been if hit hard enough. I've been modifying this truck for about 3 years now. It will never be 6S capable. Even if you get better shafts, the drivetrain isn't strong enough. I've heat treated all the drivetrain parts on this truck and it helped, but the metal doesn't have enough carbon in it, if any at all.
@@mr.magick4185 I have someone in the UK sending me all the drive train parts made of titanium to try, we're gonna find out either way. Appreciate the info 👍
@@da6thmane094 I don't have any links as of yet, but I will get them if these parts he's sending me work out, they will get me a part # and info, I will let you all know for sure as soon as I do. Thanks for the support
dont use the word 'woke' lol. only 'woke' people and morons use that word. just go into your youtube studio, and dispute the claim. it's very easy. if you dispute the claim 2 times, then this guy will have to take you to court, and if he doesn't then your video gets reinstated. best of luck man
@@BriansRCStuff yes sir, I'm surprised myself! I think it is completely maxed out now with the stock motor, anyways. I'm hoping the bigger tires I have on the Thunder will get me to the 70 mph mark with the 19t pinion. Those tires made it almost impossible to drive before I worked on the front end and steering parts and changing the servo. With the front steering stability issues fixed and the upgraded servo I believe it might reach 70 now with those tires. I appreciate you watching, be safe and enjoy your vacation my friend!
@@RCrepairAndBuilds I need to check out your front suspension fix video when I get back… and order a couple of pinion gears! My larger tires seemed to hit a limit last time out at 60 and I went faster with a little smaller tires.🤷♂️
@@skullyyonk8341 where are you ordering from and what pitch are you ordering? It should be M0.6 and make sure your backlash/clearance/gear mesh is enough, the wrong pitch will destroy it in a second ,so will being too tight
I find that if you glue the tire properly and seal off the vent holes in the wheels. Ballooning goes down a good 60-70%. I found that out on my quest to get good traction with my Losi 22s drag camaro.
@@gabrielpichardo1492 completely stock out of the box, 5200 mah 100c ToRCone 3s battery, 47.23 mph. That's geared 17/65 with the stock tires not even banded/wrapped to help with ballooning! 100% completely stock
