Having read a lot about Igor’s Tchaikovsky but this was the first time ever I was able to listen to arguably the best interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto. His tone is really velvety. Thank you so much

斯特恩大師的特色-揉音幅度小且綿密、強弱與速率變化多端,因此聽來音準度無比精確,音色亮麗甜美。是我非常喜愛並推崇的大師。

Holy cow!! I thought that thing was going to catch on fire he had it going so fast right before the big majestic theme just before the development! Really clean playing, amazing technique, and speed to burn..

Certainly one of the best Menuhin performances from the 1950's (or so I'm guessing), a time when his playing could be very uneven. He seems uncommonly relaxed for most of it (until near the end) and parts of the first movement development section seem almost improvised. Quite a bit better than his recording with Kempe made about the ssme time. The latter could have benefitted from any number of "inssrts".

Every time I stumble on a Menuhin recording I am struck by the tone of the violin and immediately return to Perlman versions...

My teacher taught me to ultra obsessive when it came to Beethoven, paying at least as much attention to the way I ended each note as to how I started it. You can see this right from the beginning here at 1:10 when he finishes that phrase on the e flat.

My favourite of all Beethoven chamber music pieces. I was not familiar with this video; I thoroughly enjoyed it, in particular Rostropovich’s wonderfully expressive playing. I’ve often thought that this masterpiece should have concluded with the 3rd movement - the concluding 4th seems superfluous.

I can't help thinking of that scene in the Humoresque movie from 1946 when I watch this. He even does the same thing on the very last E - the left hand index finger stretching straight out!!

Wonderful, his sound, although aggressive to some, is not hollow. Its richly textured and possesses warmth, and for me this is a defining quality that separates truly great violinists from the many “celebrities” who pepper the Earth and show off their superior technical skills, which are only one half of what makes a good violinist in my opinion (and I would hope I would know a good violinist when I see one as a violinist myself😂). So yes, while I would perhaps play this concerto a bit more delicately, his booming interpretation is still magnificent to me, reminding me of church bells ringing at full force! Forza!!! 🤩
