Tragically, her little son whom she fought for, suffered appalling treatment. He was kept in isolation in a dark, damp dungeon, starved, beaten and mentally abused. After two years of such torture, he ended up going mad, making repetitive animal sounds. His sister in the next cell heard everything, and was haunted for the rest of her life by her little brother's agony.
Marie Antoinette is one of the most unfairly demonized women in history. She's right up there with all the women burned at the stake and murdered for witchcraft.
Marie Antoinette also needed to use the bathroom and pleaded with the guards that were taking her to the guillotine to let her go so she didn't wet herself on the guillotine. They did let her go beside a barn I think and she got Back in the cart to go to her death. Madame touseau was actually made to make a death sculpture of the heads of Many under the threat that she would meet the same fate if she refused. I took 3 years of French in highschool and did a report for French class in French about the Frenchman credited with being the master of the revolution who in the end ended up on the guillotine himself. The king and Queen actually spent alot of France's Money helping us during the Revolutionary war with England and this was one main reason why they both were accused of treason to France (a excuse of course) and no Marie Antoinette never ever said Let them Eat Cake.
I wanted to say that you captured the impact, heartache and tragedy of Arthur's death so well. Arthur's parents were utterly grief-stricken when they were told. It must have been beyond awful to have been witness to this unfolding tragedy at Henry's court, to say nothing of the tragic reality of what had happened in Ludlow. A truly moving video. Thank you.
I had so much fun doing it! There is just so much information and primary sources available for Napoleon it is fascinating to read both about what he said himself and what others said about him. So glad you enjoyed friend!
Actually Bella she didn’t. She never said “Let them eat cake”. And several other things that are attributed to her she never said. That story began being circulated about the queens of France 100 years before she was ever born.
A guilded cage is still but a cage to the captive inside it. How was the king not ashamed to have his wife's privacy violated? They couldn't have a small 'fancy' building/room in the center of a outside court, so she could have privacy and the gawkers could be sure there was no switching of babies? And, what happened previously, that they demanded to watch a 'queen' give birth to ensure the baby wasn't switched??
I didn't even want to watch myself give birth. They asked if I wanted a mirror and I said No.. I also kicked my family out when it was time to start pushing and told them they could come back once I got to the point of no return basically.. mom and the baby's dad got to come back in first. I felt most uncomfortable about my dad seeing me in that way and in that amount of pain (I'm close with my dad too) and so I did allow him to come back into the room, but when my daughter was on her way out finally. I didn't want him to miss the moment, but it was also awkward at first. Then again once you're towards the end there, you really don't care anymore who's watching what. The pain is tremendous.
Thank you for telling us this story. As an American teenager, and while visiting my grandmother in Worcester, my father was a GI, I spent countless hours in Worcester Cathedral. I was fascinated learning about my Brittish heritage. Prince Arthur's Toumb is quite lovely. I have visited it several times over th decades. Well done.
We must of been hidden some important people in that keep for those German warships to target that castle they wouldn't of hit the castle for no reason.
@@yolandacroes5491 yes. At this time period you were not supposed to imagine the king’s death. So King’s generally didn’t attend funerals. Because this death was sudden and believed to be from an infectious disease, the rest of the immediate royal family didn’t attend. Katherine was still ill.
