Excellent! But magnets around pickups can alter existing electromagnetic properties - which is part of the overall issue. And why not use a small plastic bag like the one in the video?
That El Degas was my first guitar as a teen. I loved it so much. My brother smashed it over a chair and even that couldn't stop it. I never thought I would see that guitar again randomly on RU-vid. Thanks.
My neck pickup on my 335 is like this, but it sounds just fine. Should I go to the trouble to do the bent screw or foam hack, to level it out? Thinking of doing it on my next string swap, but I just wanna know if this will improve my neck pickup tone or is this mostly just having the pickup sitting pretty?
Just to confirm my understanding. The need for that comepensated nut is because of the position of the nut relative to the first fret? If the guitar originally had the nut about 0.5mm closer to the head, then it would not have needed a compensated nut?
Correct. But the front face of the nut would have been more like 1mm closer to the head. Thinning it by about that much would have put it in standard Fender nut territory and intonation.
Absolutely awful music to accompany the image, I switched the sound off. The only big RD user of the late 70s was the classical guitarist John Williams, who joined in on a thing of rock-ising classical pieces, I think he did that totally with the RD, you might find RU-vid filmitas if you search, I haven't tried, I'm just typing this from memory.
A more elegant version is to exchange the stats by models in which the upper part is a screw so that the distance can be tuned so let the bridge is perfectly fixed. Such a model also makes it simpler to exchange individual strings, as you can simply lift the bridge to the top.
@@guitar-niche ok romeo, take a Jack male connector and leave the housing, after that put it on a knitting neddle or solder it to a copper shaft. I use this tool since almost 20 years buddy.
