It’s funny… I’ve improvised random jazz like this on piano but it sounds (to my ears) trite, random, etc. But I must agree that there was a lot of joy and jollity when I was goofing off with this keyboard!
Thank you for listening! Yes - this isn’t a formal composition but an improvisation. I’ll be posting some other improvisations from this same session over the next several days.
Thank you! I can't wait until we HAVE worked on this and other tunes for months. This one will be fun when I have it internalized and don't have to keep looking at that pesky chart.
This might be the best soundtrack to the river which appeared 5 feet from our back yard. I watched it all yesterday measuring with my eye against a tree shared by a neighbor. It’s rising, it’s falling and only a few minutes have passed. Do we sand bag now or later? Oh, sandbags are gone. There’s a guy who might still be able to deliver? I’m just trying to think of how to protect the house we’ve been working on all year. I need to lay down. Put on The Accidental Tourist and think of dad. It worked. The river stayed where it was. A displaced friend spent the night. A fire in the fireplace using up the last of the winter wood (too soon!), soup on the stove, and clothes drying. This soundtracks my day perfectly.
I’m really liking this. You’re like a welding two pieces gently together. Scratch that, too harsh. Like you’re braiding two doughs together. It comes out right!
Oh gosh. This is the most beautiful thing I've seen in a while. Love who's operating the camera and drawing us in. Your playing is so beautiful and central to the action in the background. So good!
Thanks so much, Stephen! After our final performance I kinda just sobbed a bit. The whole experience was so moving, including the presence of Vin the photographer throughout rehearsals. I had no idea he was capturing this entire rehearsal from behind me.
This is great the way it is, serene, clean and melodic, the only thing I would say it sounds maybe a bit dry, try thinking about where to press the sustain pedal a bit to make notes resonate a bit
