This was an awesome video! Can we suggest more albums for you to react to? One of the things I love about this album, and you kind of touched on it, is that the whole album is a story. So. To react to a single song is kind of lame. But a whole album reaction is exactly what some albums need.
My favorite female artist! She’s a musical and lyrical genius. Her album after this one is an all-timer. But they’re all fantastic. I got to see her at a one-time only concert with some other great artists in Atlantic City. She and Elvis Costello performed a now iconic version of his song I Want You. I feel so lucky to have been there!
I'm not even listening to the whole thing. But you rocked the whole album and I'm giving you a thumbs up and comment just for that. This whole album is amazing. One of the best albums of the 90's
please react to her other albums!! every one of them is as good as this one 😭😭 my personal favorites are when the pawn and the idler wheel! loved your reaction ❤❤❤
I bought this when it came out in '96. It's one of the few perfect albums I have ever come across and what blows my mind is that she was 18 when this was recorded and even way younger when she wrote the majority of these lyrics. For example, she was 15 when she wrote "Never Is a Promise". What???? That's insanely amazing. Glad to see that a standout of my generation is still finding welcome ears well over a quarter of century later.
Fun Fact: Many female artists today are knownly or not copying Fionas voice style. Fiona was the first to sing like this. Artists today that copy Fiona's style include Billie Eilish, Lorde and many others. Even Madonna and Tupac Shakur fell in love with Fiona in 1996. She composes 99 percent of her songs. She came and conquered. Then, her record company started messing with her and she walked away like a boss.
i listen using my google home speaker and i swear it sounds way better in person than it does through video😭but ill see what i can do, and thank u for watching!
the songs were recorded at 18, most were self written and self composed way before that! “Never is a promise” she wrote at 13/14. She wrote criminal in a 30 min lunch break because the label *demanded* a hit or a radio friendly song. All the piano playing is her. Also, funny you should mention Jack Antonoff because there’s a picture of a preteen Jack at a Fiona Apple concert where she’s kissing him on the cheek. it’s a running joke that that’s when he got “his gift bestowed upon him” and why he works with all the Alternative girls nowadays haha. Hope you check out her other albums, she continues to be innovative and a complete lyrical beast to this day.
I do like her cover of Pure Imagination. What do you think of this poem I wrote Dawn? The man gives me roses to love. The man gives me gifts to have. The man gives me money to spend. Then he met the girl and left me. The man gives her roses to love. The man gives her gifts to have. The man gives her money to spend. Then the man and the girl got married and not me.
SHE IS THE FEMALE RAGE/FEMME FATTALE FACE OF POP! PLEASE react her last album!!!! its called "fetch the bolt cutters" when u hear i want you to love me you gonna gag!!!!!!!! its fantastic. And i love your cateyes. Kisses from Brazil.
"Though dreams can be deceiving Like faces are to hearts They serve for sweet relieving When fantasy and reality lie too far apart" My interpretation of this leads directly to the verse that follows where she mentions a bridge. Dreams and faces (or facades) act as a bridge between fantasy and reality. They deceive us at first. We fall for them. They can fill us with limerence if we're not careful, and then we find ourselves stretching to the point where we break in an attempt to keep the fantasy our reality.
@sophhiebn just watched it again and she says nothing about what the song is about other than its romantic. She just explains how the music was made. Am I missing something?
6:29 i thought of Native Americans during assimilation and white hunters driving Buffalo to extinction and killing them with frieght trains (built over their land)
