Welcome to Adventuring Pals. Our aim is to provide with you with loads of information about our travels and experiences as we are caravanning around Australia on our big lap so that you can better plan your very own epic adventures.
Hi, we (Elvin & Esh) are a family with two young boys (Jaiden & Jordan) and we have been working and traveling around Australia since March of 2019. We are usually towing our Jayco Expanda caravan behind our Mitsubishi Triton and that is now our home.
We share with you all the ups and down about our life on the road as a family with young children. We show you where to go, how to get there, what to do there and because we usually spend months at the places we go, we can give you almost a locals point of view.
Also check out our Facebook & Instagram with the same name “AdventuringPals” for more regular posts. Thank You for your support.
Don't listen to all the negative comments on here! All utes/vehicles have pro's and con's you just have to go with what you like and what suits your needs. I'm willing to bet you don't have any of the drama's with your vehicle that the armchair experts are predicting. At the end of the day it's the adventure that's important and who cares what you drive to live out the adventure.
Yes indeed. Thanks mate. Even with the triton, mine was reliable but I know of others who have had troubles. And that’s another reason I went a new ute rather than a second hand one. At least I get warranty and Ford seem do ok with warranty stuff now days. Thanks for commenting. It’s very much appreciated.
We had Tritons for years, 3 different models and as a 4x4 they are very under rated I believe. We now have a LC79 series but the reason for that is to tow tractors to vintage machinery shows, it feels like an old truck to drive but it is as tough as nails for what we like to do with it. We did the 4200kg Pre rego GVM upgrade and it is a bit rough empty but boy does it tow well loaded up.
Hi mate. Yeah I e had three different models of tritons now too. Loved them all. But unfortunately not able to stay legal with weights on one any more. The LC utes are no doubt a tough unit. Just a bit out of our price range and hard to get now too. Is yours a v8?
@@richardtimms6645 I was impressed with the standard weigh capacities of the triton, but I needed to be able to get upgrades to do what I wanted. And once again it wasn’t even an option to get one when I need it.
@@richardtimms6645 so I hear. Hopefully I get lucky. 🤞. I would have strongly thought about them if they were out but I would be very close if not over the standard weight limits anyway.
Looks like your off to a great start back on the road! Shame about the caravan though 😢 so much to see and do in outback qld, thanks for taking us along
You lost a reliable rig and replaced it with a warranty pig, that V6 is rubbish, my mates 2023 had major DPF issues after 5000kms, now it's back at ford with electrical gremlins🤢🤮
@@shawsie5780 mate I wish I didn’t have to trade the Triton. But I just couldn’t work around the weights limitations. I hope I get as lucky with the Ranger as I was with the Triton. But only time will tell.
@shawsie5780 my uncle got a brand new Everest early last year. Drove it about 150k's from the dealership to his out in the mallee. Went for a little trip just out of town doing about 40k and the driver's side front wheel assembly came of. One of my bolt's to the control arms wasn't done up tight enough. Lucky it wasn't when he was on the road doing 100k 😮. And a mate bought a V6 ute and his infotainment system was playing up. Had to take it in 3 time's B4 his big trip around Oz.
I found your channel originally as I was in the market for the MR, which I ended up getting and have enjoyed very much. It's also taken us around aus and done so economically and reliably. My brother and another friend have the new v6 ranger and if money was no object, I'd have probably got one also. The price difference was too much and at the time, the wait times were off the hook too. So we got the MR. I will say,. the engine of the ranger is amazing. So powerful and smooth. The MR has awful turbo lag, but even then I've learned to live with it. Congratulations on your new ute. I am kinda sad we aren't MR brothers any more but I understand your move :) All the best
@AdventuringPals Na mate but it's a bit wierd that I'm not cooking at it isn't it?... like why wouldn't you have the chef there as a familiar face to make the event even more fun....
Smart sticking with the 4H option mate. I have it on my MR Triton and those other brand drivers just don't know what they are missing. All utes should have it. Your Ranger looks very nice by the way.
@@BrettWilliamson thanks mate. Yes I do live the 4H/4A mode. The ranger is pretty much a twin of the old Triton, in looks anyway, even reused the whole canopy and rims and tyres.
Good to see your liking the Ranger, interested to see what your not happy about during the review, I agree on the Landcruiser, for the entry price you can setup an entire vehicle with everything you need, and the no ANCAP rating is because Toyota changed the classification of the vehicle from Light duty to Medium duty so they could get past the requirements as this segment doesn't require the same levels of safety as passenger vehicles, plus you get all the inherent probles that are there from 40 years ago, such as different track width between the front / rear wheels, you still need to spend a bomb to kit it out and put decent suspension on them, they are overpriced like most Toyota's
@@-PORK-CHOP- thanks mate. Yeah there is a lot to talk about out why the Toyota wasn’t suitable but this was not the video to go into those details, but you’re spot on about them. There is nothing majorly wrong with our Ranger, nothing that would stop me buying another one.
@@AdventuringPals I will wait to see what you have to say, as I am a current Ranger owner and would like to upgrade, I am after the V6 but they don't offer it in extra cab which is what I am after, so waiting to see what comes out, as they now offer the 4cyl with AWD option on some trim levels, but I don't want the 4Cyl after having the 5Cyl I won't go to a 4Cyl, Your's has a lot to live up to as the Triton is known as a very reliable vehicle, albeit it's a bit cheap inside and basic, but gets good reviews from owners.
@@-PORK-CHOP- ah cool. I think most of my concerns are from what I’m seeing happening to other on owners groups with engine issues. It’s a hard one as it’s probably only a minority. And I think I expected a few features to be included (parking sensors for one) that weren’t because I got a cab chassis but all very minor stuff that I should have done better research on. I just took the only car they had available at the dealer at the time so didn’t have much option anyway.
@@AdventuringPals Hey Mate, I don't get why they don't offer parking sensors on Cab models, because if you go somewhere like MRT for a canopy they will relocate everything for you, if they were fitted to the tub model, such as parking sensors, BLIS sensors, Xtraffic sensors, camera, I think they should send the ute with the sensors in a box, and it's up to you to get them attached via your canopy / tray supplier, and the installer just flicks a switch in the service mode to activate them, Especially if Ford sell it as a Cab model, I would assume Ford is sourcing the trays locally, so it's not hard to have these simple mounting positions on the tray ready to go !, I hate it when manufacturers make decisions like that, I love my parking sensors, don't care about a camera but the sensors are indispensable, how do you go with a rear vision mirror, did you fit an electronic rear mirror inside so you can see behind the canopy at all times while driving or reversing ? < I have been sussing out the Wolfbox versions.
@@-PORK-CHOP- yeah exactly mate. It’s all setup for it anyway. I reused the same rear vision camera I had on Triton. It’s a Jaycar hardwired one with up to four camera hookup. I have one u see the tray looking back. And one on the bull bar looking forward and down to see obstacles better in approach. And one will go on the caravan.
Thank you! I got a dune awning and kid at anaconda told me I didn't need any mounting kit! Yours is only video I found that isn't doing some backyard engineering to get it fitted! Off to get a prorack kit tomorrow. I'm a solo woman and didn't want to pay pink tax for an install. I got the confidence now. Enjoy your adventures!
@AdventuringPals well, got it on myself. Faffed about a bit, and needed some bolts from bunnings, but it's on. Just too bloody windy in Brisbane to set the awning up to try out!
Ah no brother, you gotta bring one or two full spares with you next time. Maybe an opportunity for a tire company to sponsor you!! How do you tag goodyear on socials? lol The food looked good man, this is the type of cool stuff I'll do when i get my 4wd. thanks for all the videos, keep it up!
@@positivepete4265 I had a spare but I wanted to use the tyre repair kit as I haven’t need to use it until now. I had a couple of options to get me out of trouble. Thanks for the comments mate. It really helps me stay motivated to edit.
Recently found your channel- enjoying your down to earth style. Do you have a video on how one of Pajero mounts max trax against back window and wheel bin bags x2 either side of rear wheels- never see it done like that, especially that rear max trax setup
@@aron2199 thanks mate. Sorry no video on the Paj stuff. We did shoot a walk around but the audio was a fail. The max track mounts was a new product being made by someone on one of the paj Facebook pages. I can’t remember the guys name but I’ll ask my brother in law, who owns the paj. The 2 bin bags were just Kings bags that he hung on the tyre together, nothing special needed with that I’m pretty sure. I will try and get another video of the Paj but it will be hard as we are now on the road full time again.
@@positivepete4265 hi mate. Total over its life (107000ks) it got around 15l/100k. It was always loaded up to at to between 2.8-3.2 tons and half it’s life towing too. When towing we averaged 15-22 depending on speed and wind. And around town it got 13-16 when loaded. In the. Highway when not towing it got down to even 10s with favourable conditions. Hope this makes sense and that it helps.
@@-PORK-CHOP- it was amazing food mate. Worth a visit. The boys love chatting to the camera. I now give them their own camera but they end up fighting over it more than talking to it lol.
Bad luck with the puncture you been lucky if that's your first, TIP: to use these plugs you push the plug in 2/3 then pull it back, it breaks in two and stays in, Don't push all the way through, some kits also come with glue, i'm surprised nobody would plug the hole for you it's not like it was a gaping hole, if the DIY plug worked it wasn't a bad puncture, talk about useless people in Coober Pedy for not fixing it for you, surely they must come across this all the time.
@@-PORK-CHOP- yeah I think we’ve been very lucky so far as we have been on a lot rougher roads with out issues. I think it was late in the day and I did say I put 3 plugs in, maybe that’s why they thought it was too big. Thanks for the tip on how to plug it up. I’m sure the first two I put in went inside the tyre lol.
👏👏👏👏👍👍. I probably shouldn’t admit to this but I’ve plugged a motorcycle tyre and rode on it until it was down to the canvas before I got to somewhere that had the right tyre to replace it, without any issues. It doesn’t matter how big the boat or ship, if you have a inner ear in balance you are going to feel crook,to late now but eating a crunchy apple as your getting on will help heaps, try it on the way back 👍👍. Stay strong and safe travels ❤️❤️🙏👁️👁️😎😇. The bride just brought a new puppy home, a blue healer named Charlie .
Too easy mate. Thats great to hear about the rubbish. Every little bit helps I reckon. Thanks for taking out the time to comment. It’s very much appreciated.
@@ShaunMatthews-uw3rx thanks mate. I love hearing this. I’m so glad it’s been helpful to you and I appreciate you making the effort to let us know. Thanks.
Hi can I know how much rice to meat ratio was used in the pulao, so I think your dad said 2 kilos of meat, but the measurement of rice was not mentioned, can you let me know. Thank you!
@@yindyamarra congrats mate. Hope you enjoy it. I’m not a big fan of hybrids either. They seem very heavy for their size. I get that’s a consequence for their ruggedness but I could do without it.
@@positivepete4265 Hi mate. I loved the triton but unfortunately I was at the max rear axle limit with my camping setup but I wanted to tow a caravan too. There was no options to increase the limit. I would have loved to make the triton work but I just couldn’t. I’m planning a video explaining all this in more detail, just need to find the time to do it.
@@AdventuringPals hey this is a valid reason. I thought something went wrong and you lost brand loyalty. Man I'm closing in, I might be doing a triton soon!
Yet to share our new acquisition on FB ... its SRC14 with similar internal and external fittings Its semi not full off road with torsion suspension. With 2 lithium battery and 180w solar, its full off grid. No power needed. Waiting to see what you settle down to.
Hi guys, ye we got a Snowy River 21ft we ❤️ours bought it during covid , it’s been a great van no probs wat so ever. I think these days for what on the market money wise don’t think you could get a better van Goodluck guys hope this helps you decide 👍🍻

@@grahamwhittaker8844 hi mate. Sorry to hear about the mother in law and the dog. That’s a big hit to take all at once. I’m pretty sure they allow dogs at the Ayer’s rock campground. Might be able to organise a pet sitter while there. I know people often take turns minding pets at these places.
@@felixxr6turbo thanks bro. We used a few different cameras for the different shots. I used a GoPro11 with its built in star trails, a pixel phone, an iPhone 14 and a canon m50. We love astros.
