During his fishing adventures Paul shares the variety and abundance of wildlife in the Avon Valley and South Coast.
Cracking fish, brilliant fight and well done but never 20lbs in a month of Sundays let alone 24lbs. A cracking good 12-14lb fish which under the current reduced runs is a good achievement so well done! Just don't sell yourself short by over estimating it's weight
Well done on looking to let the fish recover before the photo ( even if it was at the expense of getting the trophy snap) ! Beautiful fish and gorgeous surroundings. Im planning a trip myself soon. Tight Lines.
My favourite spinner for salmon, lost count how many l have taken on the black and silver. Early season l fish the black and gold. Throw it across and slightly up stream and reel it in.. deadly. Fish the yellow and silver in coloured water after heavy rain, cast upstream hard into the bank and hit the seatrout.
Absolutely wonderful fish, well caught but unfortunately held in a net for a disgracefully amount of time. Fresh fish are delicate and susceptible to stress so as soon as they are ready to go they should be released. Iv seen captures like that held for photos and egos swim away fine but found dead a day later. We don't need to feed the antis. Having said that iam a passionate Salmon angler and understand the adrenaline and living the moment so well done.
Hi Paul, I had lunch at a pub years ago on the Avon close to the new forest it was called the Severn stars if I remember there were some lovely fish there out side the pub in a weir pool some huge chub, dace, very big trout as well, just wondered if you knew it think that was £200 a day years ago, I have cancer at the moment so I'm now out of work so it's not affordable for me to fish that lovely river..
Unfortunately, I've just come back from a river session where I had 7 takes, and didn't land any of them. Not only that, but only the last one stayed on longer than 3 seconds. So it looks like, as much as it pains me to say it, single circle hooks are pretty useless.
If I was using a size 5 mepps with the hair dressed hook, would that catch big and tiny pike alike? I want to catch quality, big fish, but I also want the action from little fish
Im only 28 but i fish an old school setup some ppl would laugh at me an old shakespeare ugly stick rod from the 80s or an old abu garcia rod an an old michell 300 if you know you know ..
Another great vid Paul - being in Cirencester, I'm always looking for relatovely close fishing spots. Could you advise whether day tickets are available on the stretches you show? Here, Ibsey Bridge, etc? Thanks.
Love your videos mate im a specimen lure angler for perch! Just started targeting salmon on the flying c My river isnt massive can you recommend and decent rod and reel for the flying c
@@PaulGreenacre thanks for the reply Paul now just briefly it's always been an ambition to try and catch a salmon on prawn on the Avon a seriously life long ambition fella ,my question is , firstly it's definitely not on my doorstep as I live in Yorkshire ,but sometime in the future would you think it would be doable if I travelled down and had a go Paul just one day one crack at it even in the next couple of years I'd be very grateful , so have a think about it Paul and give me an idea of the associated costs and hopefully sometime in the future I might be able to fulfil the ambition , if you would prefer not to broadcast on here then I would provide my mobile number thereafter , kindest regards Paul 😁😁👍
@@johngray3585 Hi John, You can certainly get a day ticket to fish parts of the avon. Christchurch Angling Club have some water available. I took this from their website. Members can take a single guest to any venue offering migratory or river game fishing except Winkton & Tincleton. These are Hampshire Avon: Horseport, Redbrook, Ringwood Fishery & Sopley Mill Stream. Dorset Stour: Canford Bridge, Little Canford, Highmead and Dudsbury Golf Course. Guests must be accompanied at all times by the member. The member is responsible for the behaviour of their guests and ensuring they follow the club's rules and regulations. Game & migratory fish only must be targeted with the appropriate tackle. All persons must hold the relevant EA rod licence. christchurchac.org.uk/day-tickets/
@@PaulGreenacre thanks for the information Paul it's very much appreciated and I will certainly give it all some thought ,I really would appreciate your expertise in the matter so I think to be your guest for the day would be the finest alternative under the circumstances , it would be a once in a lifetime experience after all as I've not been well the last few years and really I would only be up to the journey once I'm sure , the stretches you fish are to die for and just one try would be enough for me , so thanks again Paul and I hope something can be arranged in the future 🎣😁👍
Beautiful fish and interesting way to fish the Devon. They were a great bait for spring salmon here on the river Moy in the rep of Ireland but nobody fishes them anymore its all Flying C now which work well but i hate fishing them as they pull your back out..
Thanks DEVI. Glad you don't have Limited at the end of your name. I quite agree - spinning is not good for our backs - devon is the way to go - or possibly a downstream mepps fished like a fly. I'd love to have ago on the Moy when I retire. Wishing you all the best for 2-023 season.
How do you attach the flying c to the mainline? Do you tie the mainline directly to the the lure or do you use a snap swivel? Also do you a hooklink/leader?
