Great video! Just helped me decide which I’m gonna buy. I really thought I was gonna prefer that extra length but if it’s not as sharp at 350 it’s a moot point. I prefer the Tamron sharper at 300 and just crop in a little extra in post. And. I’d definitely prefer the extra width of the Tamron and just have a single travel lens.
I did buy the RX newest one and sent it back as the image quality is very dated looking a not in the same league as the A6700 and 18-300 lens or any lens on the a6700. I shot a lot of video with it to and it looks good till you mix it in with A6700 shot or other video and you can see right away the a6700 video quality is so much better so much so I feel like I dont. want to use any of the video I shot from the RX as it looks weak when mixed in other other videos. It's the same with photos. They are ok just not great like you get from the a6700. When I sent to back is when I ordered the A6700 and Tamron 18-300. Will be doing an interview with another photographer tomorrow using the two a6700s I have. I have the dummy batterys for them to run them to help them not over heat..
thank you for showing great real life comparisons. A really intriguing question for me is if the tamron has better image quality than you get on the rx10 line of cameras. do you have any idea?
I have the Sigma 50mm 1.2 and have been using it on jobs. We are shooting 4 to 6 days a week right now small weddings and portraits sessions. I will do a video on it but right now it's our summer busy time as I do shoot for a living. We have over 100 jobs booked and still booking more for later in the year. Thats normal for us we average around 120 a year. The Sigma 50mm 1.2 so far has worked 100% even at f 1.2 it is very sharp. Focus is very fast to even track kids running right at me. Been using it with flash and natural light shooting on my A9 III. I was going to get the Sigma 85 but went with the 50 as its newer and has the F 1.2 and I am glad I did. Been using my A9 III all the Time now and have used it on over 20 jobs now. The flash sync speeds for portraits I can shoot at now I am using on almost every job we could never do before so it has change how I shoot now.
Wanted to add I will be covering a lot with using AI for making images and using AI for editing images you shoot. I have put togather a AI system and its quite amazing what you can do. I need to tweet some things out and we will start offering this as part of our business. Taking a photo I shot and having AI turn it into anything I want so they can be anyplace in any style doing anything and even change hair colors and look and pose and change the lighting. I have it kinda of working the way I want just not all the way yet, This will take many jobs away from photographers and in some area has all started.
Can you please Tell us is IT possible to connect a guest Phone call with the gigcaster over USB or Bluetooth? Nobody has test it on RU-vid and the answear.Music works over Bluetooth but Phone call??
I got the Sony. Its not twice the price for nothing. These are two different lenses for different purposes so not really comparable. Enjoyed the video by the way 👍👍
I shot them side by side the Tamron was fantastic. I now use a Tamron 28-75 2.6 on my A9 II as my main lens we use on all out jobs and it is tack sharp as well. I have Sigma 50MM 1.2 on order i will be shooting with soon as well. Will use it on some jobs and fun shooting as well before making a video on it. We shoot full time for a living so have plenty of job to use it on.
@@stupidcanvas Got the Sigma 50mm 1.2 in today so far its a great lens will shoot a portrait session with it today. Seems more heavy than I was expecting more weight than the Tamron 28-75 2.8 I took off to put the 50 on. F 1.2 looks amazing for background blur and its sharp at 1.2.
But you can not do the flash sync speeds. I am using the high flash sync speed on just about every job now. This has changed how we shoot weddings and portraits. Shooting at 2500 to 4000 all the Time now. This gives super fast flash recycle times as no HSS is needed.
Seen many comparisions. This one resonated very well for a prosumer like me. I would have never thought of buying a 18-300 mm lens and now I am very seriously considering it, given the flexibility when travelling.
I used it a lot traveling as it ended up being the main Lens is uses on the A6700. I also shot a lot with the DJI Pocket 3. See the video on the motto cross that the Tamron 18-300 was used on for most all of it.
This is how camera lenses are supposed to be reviewed !! Real life situations!!!! Hope most RU-vidrs reviewing lenses could learn from this. Practically good to showcase viewers the real things.
Why would you practically need 70 - 350mm? You starting closer and going up-close? I would have stayed with the Tamron though … But guess you have a different target of contents you plan shooting.. Nice shots coming from the Tamron though.
What zooms were you in? Probably could have inserted the zoom ranges on screen though. But so far I think you did a great job getting the best out of the lens. It's cool. Am split between the 28-300 and the 18-300 right now. I love doing wildlife, birds, cars and motorcycles and then architecture. Which do you recommend?
I had the Sony 70-350mm for my a6400 but replaced it with the Tamron 18-300mm, and that had to be the best decision I made, now that I have the a6700 its the perfect setup for me
Fantastic comparison. I'm really eyeing the Tamron 18-300 as an all in one travel lens. Take it and maybe my Tamron 28-75 for lower light and basically be set for a very compact travel setup. I've seen a lot of tests where the focus is pulsing and struggling - but you showed that clearly it's user error - not the lens - in those reviews. It held on quite nicely to the bands at the end when you had the proper focus settings. Thanks for this!
I sent it back and got another one and it's all working great . I have two of them now all working with all my flash systems. It was just a problem with just that one camera it seems.
Just looking to buy a 6700 camera and looking for a lens which would be used for photography and also for video. Tamron 18-300m is interesting as it does have wide zoom range which is really good with video.
I just got the Viltrox 75 mm f/1.2 for my Nikon Z30. A video like this confirms that I can expect at least decent pictures with it. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Yes you should get fantastic photos from it. I have the Nikon Z50 and two Z6s as well but have been moving more to Sony as the Sony a6700 vs the z50 or 30 is night and day. The focus system on the a6700 is like the Nikon Z8 and 9 but in this small cropped camera. And the tracking is amazing plus all the advanced video features. I will be selling my Z50 two lens kit and other lens I have for it. I have the Sigma16mm 1.4 for it that is also a great lens better than any Nikon cropped lens. I have over 10k of Nikon lens and gear I will be selling. But will be doing some videos on them side by side vs some Sigma lens on Sony. I have for the most part replaced all my Nikon Z lens with Sony, Sigma or Tamron lens now for my Sony system. My two Z6s have been replaced with a Sony A9 III a the two a6700 we have. The Plan for today is to take photos of it all to start putting the Nikon Z gear up for sale. Then buy more Sony lens.
@@goactivemedia ok. because I can't find a video where someone talk about it. in my Sony zve1 works and its a great thing. I don't understand why Sony don't put this option in every camera
Great review. About the viltrox 75, Wanted to know if there are any updates on af performance after firmware update 1.0.4 in Nov 23 as people say that it was not reliable for fast moving subjects like birds, running pets, children, etc in the very first firmware? I am in the market for buying one. I currently have sigma 18-50 f2.8 for my a6700, looking to have a prime now-- confused between sigma 56 f1.4 and the this viltrox 75. Performance wise 56 seems to be reliable. Wether sealing, image quality wise viltrox seems better. Also this will add a bigger focal length for my use.

After the updates I have done two of them I have had no problems. but I am not shooting fast moving subjects like birds or running pets so have not tested that. It's a great portrait lens. In another videos I tested it VS a Samyang 85mm 1.4 and had to sent that back as it had strange focus problems shacking real bad on my Sony a9 III. Thinking of buying the new Sigma 50 1.2 for my A9 III unless the new Viltrox 85mm 1.4 is out soon to look. I have some jobs I like to use primes on coming up High School senior sessions. Could use my Nikon z6 and 85mm 1.8 but would like to use the A9III as I am moving more into Sony.
Yaa but you have to be so far back at 200mm it's crazy. I picked up a 85mm 1.4 for my A9III I have another video on shooting it VS the Viltrox 75. I love the Viltrox but want something for my Full Frame. I had to send back the 85mm I got I used in the video as it did not work right on the A9 III.The Viltrox that is really a 112mm vs FF had the better background compress VS the 85mm 1.4 but the 1,4 produce a little better background blur just a little. But the 85 lets you get in even closer to your subject they the Viltrox 75 = 112mm. Waiting to see the new Viltrox 85mm 1.4 that have listed to come out soon. I just hope it is lighter as the 75mm 1.2 is very heavy.
Thank you for taking the time to do this comparison! I did notice that the Sony has some pincushion/lens distortion. I just purchased the Tamron 18-300mm, which will be an all-around hiking setup.
bokeh is a little nicer on the viltrox but I am noticing that I like the compression you get on the 200 a little more so they are kind of equal for me in the background that you get.
Yaa compression is better at 200mm but when shooting portraits at 200mm you have to be so far back people can no longer even hear you talking to them and you need a lot of space to be far back. Today I just got in a 85mm 1.4 to use on my new A9 III so I get the full MP not in cropped. I have to test shoot them both but so far it looks like the 85mm 1.4 match the 75mm cropped for background bone and I can be in even closes now with it. So will use the Viltrox on the a6700 and the new 85 1.4 on the A9 III. the A9 III lets me shoot wide open. a F 1.4 as the a9 III has the higher shutter speeds so no ND filter is needed plus the advanced flash sync speeds it can do is just amazing.
Wow great video. Im a complete newbie, I bought a Sony A6400 for myself, & aA6000 for my wife. Both have 16-50 kit lenses. I also bought a Sony 55-210 oss lens. But I know absolutely nothing about photography yet. Can I use the Tamaron 18-300mm, for everything ? Like a one lens package. I will be using the lens for real estate & wildlife. Is the Tamaron good for this kind of photography?
The 18-300 is not a great lens for in door shooting as it has a high F stop of 6.3 when you zoom in so does not let in a lot of light. But for video its not to bad as for video your are shooting at a much lower shutter speed and that lets in more light. Anything outdoors in good light the Tamron is great for. I traveled around Portugal for a month shooting with it every day all outdoors daytime and it worked fantastic for the wide range of zoom it has. I was able to shoot anything I wanted and video as well. For wide stuff like real estate you can get the Sony 11mm 1.8 lens. This lets in a lot of light and is very good for that kind of photos. It is a 16.5mm equivalent focal length on a cropped camera. I had that with me on my trip as well and only used it one time as most everything we shot was outdoors and I used the Tamron. Also shoot two days of motocross with the Tamron 18-300 and it worked great on the a6700 I shot many hundreds of images and video and not one of them was out of focus on fast moving action outdoors. You can see a full video on this as well I made. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TuMOzrWXj8M.html
I also used it on a month long trip shooting in Portugal and it worked fantastic. Even shot two days of motocross with it you see in another video. The focus and tracking it was was dead on for the fast action. Even using clear image zoom for more reach for some of the video it worked great.
Sharpness look really good on tammy, only thing that differs from sony, is that tammy shows fringing on contrasting edges, while sony is clear. For photos tamron is really good lens, but when you want steady video, especially handheld, sony is way better, with tamron I had jumping effect which is impossible to stabilize in post without strange artifacts, while sony is gentle swaying all time, much easier to stabilize clip in post.
My favourite use of a 200mm F2.8 is to hold it very low to the ground and take full body environmental portraits @200mm (mostly of my dog) wishlist holding the camera in landscape. If you try that with both, but use the 75mm from the same distance then you will see the advantage of the extra reach.
what focus mode were you using on the Nikon? A different mode can make a big difference depending on the circumstances you are shooting in. Thanks for the comparison, I've been looking for something like this for a while!
The z6 is very poor at tracking so we have shot with single point focus for years now with it. I have shot over 600 jobs with the Z6 and it has been good no problems with it ever breaking down. But the focus system has never been that good on it and we can never use tracking focus as it's so poor. The a6700 on the other hand is fantastic and we use tracking 100% of the time with it as it just never misses. I was surprised I had the focus problems on the Nikon. I had never tested it like this before but have shot portraits with it before with no problem. I quit using it due to the size and weight. I will be selling it now it have been used less then ten times at this point.
