we are gold elite members so im interested in how many points per night it cost to stay in this one bedroom suite??? I think it beautiful and checks all my boxes
Hi, thank you for watching my video. I booked the cheapest room with points, and I used the suite upgrade certificate. I think you can ask the hotel how many points you need. Sometimes they don't let you book for a suiteroom with points... 😒😒😒
I stayed here in march 2024 and the hotel is very nice. Great staff and a nice hotel. My only qualm with the hotel is you forget you're in Venice and feel like you're in America. Marriott is clean with their branding but I think offering some authenticity of your surroundings would go a long way.
Thank you for taking the time to watch my video and share your thoughts. Reviews are subjective, and experiences can vary. I hope you have a positive experience. Safe travels!
Oh no! I just saw your reviews and I just finished the reservation with them! Now what? I hope we don’t get disappointed! I’ll yiu guys know when we come back
Great video👋Can you please tell me if it's just the 100-500mm lens that they lend you or are they're other lenses too, tripods or anything else? I want to take nice landscape photos, electric storms and so on. Plus I don't want all my wildlife pics to be close-ups. Thanks in advance
Hi, thank you for watching my video. 😊😊 Landacape photos and electric storms photos sound great! I wish I had such a skill. The website says: Canon Photo Studio State of the art Canon photography equipment including the mirrorless EOS R6 Mark II and EOS R3, and lenses RF 100-500mm and RF 24-70mm allowing you to experience and create your own visual masterpiece. We didn't get the tripods or anything else. Maybe it's because they knew we were beginners for photography?! I recommend you inquire them directly.
@@yuka.m Thank you for the quick reply. I was contemplating bringing some of my own camera equipment (if they don't supply you with smaller lenses) but with the internal flight weight restrictions it might not be such a great idea. Nice to get some pics of the Masai Mara people and so on without having to stand a mile away from them lol
Oh, you must be a great photographer! Right, I don't like the restrictions of luggage. Please contact the lodge to ask if they supply some equipment. 😉😉
Me and my wife will be going end of August. Could you link or tell me what your husband wore as I like his attire and want to get a few clothing items for our trip. Thanks and great video!!!
Hi, thank you for the comment! 😆😆 He bought his clothes here. Tops: Outdoor Ventures Men's UPF 50+ UV Sun Protection SPF Hiking Shirt Long Sleeve Lightweight Quick Dry for Safari Travel Fishing a.co/d/2MJ3GFo The material of the long sleeve shirt is really good. Thank you for the comment.🙂🙂🙂 I liked this hotel before, but our experience last time wasn't great, like they ruined my bag as you see in my video ( 9:17 ), and late check out wasn't honored😢, but it's still one of the best Marriott properties in Waikiki, I believe. I prefer Halekulani Hotel (if not Marriott), though it's way too expensive for me😭😭😭
No, I did not take the yellow fever vaccine for this trip. However, I had previously taken the vaccine for my trip to Tanzania a long time ago. As a precaution, I brought my yellow card with me, but I did not need to show it upon arrival in Kenya. Basically, it seems that Kenya does not require the yellow fever vaccination if you are coming directly from the US. I have never been asked to show it.
Thank you for your video review.. One of the most informative and effective reviews that I have come across.. Keep up the good work..!! We are traveling next week for our 5-night trip and your video really helped me get a great idea of what to expect at JW Masai Mara. I have a quick question about how you navigated the timings of bush drives with the rains/thunderstorms? I am checking the weather for next week and it looks like it is going to rain pretty much the entire time. Hopefully there will be some breaks in between when we can enjoy our bush breakfast/sundowners :)
Thank you for saying so!!!😊😊😊 You are so kind!!! Oh no, it looks like it's going to rain for most of your stay. Don't worry though, JW can adjust the safari timing upon request. Typically, rain doesn't last all day, so you can plan your safaris during the sunny or cloudy periods. Check the hourly forecast for the next day and decide what time you want to leave. For the morning drive, it's best to decide the day before so that the bush meals can be prepared. As for the evening drive, you can decide on the time after the morning safari. If the weather forecast predicts rain after 5PM, I suggest leaving around 2PM and returning by 5PM. This will give the safari guides a 3-hour break to return the vehicles, clean up, and have lunch. If there are other passengers, the timing will depend on their activities, such as Spa or Nature Walk appointments. In such cases, the standard safari time of 4PM to 7PM will still apply, even in rainy conditions. Please note that heavy rain makes it difficult to see animals as the plastic covers of JW vehicles have become faded and unclear. They provide ponchos to keep you dry, though... Oh, I have a great suggestion!! I really enjoyed the Ol Kiombo area. It's much drier compared to the JW main safari area. Although it takes 75 minutes to get there, it's definitely worth it. We went there 3 or 4 times. Basically, you need to exit the Masai Mara National Reserve at Talek gate, drive through the local village, and then enter the reserve again through another gate, which is Mpuai gate. The safari guides are familiar with it, as it has shorter bushes due to the dryness, making it easier to spot animals. Have a great trip!! Please feel free to reach out here if you have any further questions. 🙂🙂🙂
Hi, the price of $3200 (someone commented so) is for one night at the camp, not for the whole trip from the airport. It's important to note that the prices can vary depending on the month or specific dates you choose. For accurate and up-to-date pricing information, I recommend visiting marriott.com.
Hi, thanks for the great review. We are heading there at the end of August, how was the ride from Nairobi to Masai? We are told the road from airport to the park are all paved, is it a pretty smooth ride or was it bumpy?
Hi, thank you for the comment. The road is all paved, although there were certain sections that were quite winding through the mountains. It was actually a pretty smooth ride. Have a great trip! 😆😆😆
Love your Africa hotel videos! Will you consider share some tips of how to plan an Africa trip with us? Sush as safety, transportation, itinerary and so on. We travel and book hotels with points too, but a little worried of DIY Africa trip. 😅
Oh, thank you so much again for saying so!! 😭😭😭 So nice of you! 😊😊 Sure, I can share how to plan an African trip. Well, yes, planning a DIY Africa trip can be challenging. Typically, we prefer staying at a hotel near the main airport, like the Four Points for 1 or 2 nights before and after our safari lodge stays. This ensures we don't miss any important flights back home or to the next destination. It was exciting to see that Marriott has finally opened a safari lodge (excluding Protea by Marriott Lusaka Safari Lodge). with more to come in the future. Booking safari flights online is easier after the pandemic, so you can plan an Africa trip easier. Book the hotel using Bonvoy points and book the flights online, and tell the lodge about your flight information. Oh, by the way, I take all kinds of medicine. Pain relief, diarrhea, and malaria (JW said we didn't have to worry about malaria, but I took some anyway), etc... Also, Kenya won't accept the arrival visa anymore, so be careful. We got an E-visa, but we noticed there was a new visa(?) system, ETA, to enter Kenya starting January 2024, so it was confusing. And usually African people prefer newer bills as cash tips, like issued after 2017? But JW was OK with older bills. I hope you make a great trip plan for you and your family.. Let me know if you have any other questions.😉😉 Thanks again for watching my video.🥰🥰
Hi, thank you for asking. The coupon is per room per night. I stayed there for 5 nights, and I got 5 coupons. You could get 4 coupons at once if you stay there for 4 nights. Let me know if I didn't answer your question well. Have a great trip! 😊😊
@@yuka.m i’ll stay there for 1 night. i mean my family have 4 people, does 1 coupon get us all 4 to go on the Bus for city tour. Thanks for fast response
Oh, you will stay for one night... you would get only one coupon then...🥴🥴 Per coupon is for one person. You can buy 3 more tickets at the same counter, though..
We stayed there for 9 nights. Recommendation... 1. Bring a warm jacket definitely for cold morning and night 2. Bring some SD cards for 4K/UHD 3. If you watch this video till last, you would understand that I deeply remorse my failure to request the safari guide to lower both her voice and the radio volume. My hesitation at that moment was unfortunate, but I strongly advise you to clearly communicate your preferences to them, ensuring that they understand what you do not desire.
