Hello everyone! I’m a male 52 years old now and I just wanted to mention I just had my 2nd open heart valve surgery back on November 30, 2023 within the last 22 plus years, first one was in July 2001. In both open heart valve surgeries I had my aortic valve replaced with a cow valve and in both surgeries they also had to repair aneurysms! In both surgeries I had very excellent heart surgeons and anesthesiologists!
So the first valve did last for 21 years? Amazing! Hope you are doing well now. I am 59 now and I am going to have my first surgery in four weeks (Aortic valve as well). I opted for a cow valve and I hope it will last at least 15 years.
Thank you for your time taken to explain in simple terms the working process functions of the heart & how you repair anomalies when they occur. Marvellous!
Very, very well explained. I’m not sure what procedure I may or may not need but thank you for a well done explanation of what is involved in a what is to many a very frightening experience. I also have a better idea of what to ask my doctor tomorrow. FRR
Thank you so much! I'm scheduled to have two valves replaced six days from now and I've been a bit on edge, but this video really helped to alleviate some of my anxiety about it. Thank you again and may God continue to guide you and your team daily.
I have a question. normally with a stent procedure you have to lie flat for 4 hours after stent placement, would the patient able to sit-up directly after valve replacement- and is this done open heart or can it be done the same way as a stent placement, which is what I was told from a heart Surgeon from another Hospital. and last but not least how long before the patient can leave the hospital after this procedure
I also had a valve replacement 6 months ago and am in awe over the medical procedures of our modern times. May God bless all Doctors and nurses that save lives everyday across the world.
Amazing video, very informative about the valves and their problems taking patients to surgery. I had my aortic valve + section of aorta replaced by a mechanical + graft in January (about 3 months ago). The surgeons were very kind and explained everything detailed to me, but this video shows in reality how a surgery room looks like. I’m recovering well, although feeling annoyed by the noise and mainly by an increasing heart pounding in my chest over the course of the days. Warfarin, aspirin, beta blocker and a anti-inflammatory colchicine are in my daily medication list.
Had this procedure 6 weeks ago . Was the worst experience of my life. Would not recommend to anyone except my grumpy mother in law. Hirslanden Klinik Zurich…horrible
I went to school and became a 1st assistant surgical technologist. I assisted in thousands of surgeries for about 10years. I have not been in the medical field now for 8 years. I miss this. When he said anastomosis I understood what he is saying. I never got to work any heart surgeries but only observed. I wish I had went to school to be able to operate and help save peoples lives. Now I work as an executive chef 😆 🤣
DR VINCENT YOU CERTAINLY KNOW HOW TO CONVEY THE MESSAGE Certainly having a cabg is not a licence to ignore health and lifestyle guidelines Humour & a pleasing bedside manner count for everything Thank you
