Thank you so much! I'm scheduled to have two valves replaced six days from now and I've been a bit on edge, but this video really helped to alleviate some of my anxiety about it. Thank you again and may God continue to guide you and your team daily.

Dr G....You were kind enough to answer some questions I had about 18 months ago. That was so kind of you . I've been around surgery for my whole Podiatric Surgery career and I have seen very few Surgeons who were as kind and thoughtful as you. I'm having my aortic TAVR done this year and I'm so appreciative of your sharing. All the best, Dr Mike Prado

Before Dr Gaudiani replaced my aortic valve in 2012, all I heard through a stethoscope was the sound of rushing water in my chest. Scary. Once he replaced the valve, I once more heard a heartbeat. He's the best, period.

I just had open heart surgery. I was released a few days ago and now I am home recovering. I had a graft and mechanical valve put in. I am doing ok if anyone is curious. After watching this video, i cam say that this doctor was amazing at describing the procedure/heart where non clinical people can understand.

Amazing video, very informative about the valves and their problems taking patients to surgery. I had my aortic valve + section of aorta replaced by a mechanical + graft in January (about 3 months ago). The surgeons were very kind and explained everything detailed to me, but this video shows in reality how a surgery room looks like. I’m recovering well, although feeling annoyed by the noise and mainly by an increasing heart pounding in my chest over the course of the days. Warfarin, aspirin, beta blocker and a anti-inflammatory colchicine are in my daily medication list.

Thanks for an excellent, easy to understand, of a very complex ballet that all members of the team must perform. I had my left valve replaced on 12-30-2020, because I had rheumatic fever as a ten yrs old kid while growing in Costa Rica. I am 78 yrs young! and I feel great! more energy and zest for life. I was asymptomatic and waited two yrs before I decided to follow the advice of my doctor and my sister who is an anesthesiologist, now retired, in CR. Again, thanks for your clear and precise information. It helped me understand better the procedure [mine was through the right leg] Happy New Year! 2022

@Diuneahma Had same valves replaced 10/06 and a bypass with veins from both legs. You'll get used to the ticking and won't even notice it after a while but other people will hear it. I'm taking 11.25 mg of Coumadin per day and get INR checked every six weeks if it is between 2.5-3.5, if not in that range, checked every three weeks until it's right by adjusting Coumadin dosage and/or diet (Vitamin K).

@SGolaszewski Mechanical but this means you need to undergo anticoagulation therapy. The tissue ones from pigs and cows last less i think 15 years? but are bio-compatible so you dont need anticoagulant therapy. So i think that they use the bio for older individuals and the mechanical for younger

I had to changed cardiologist now I’m waiting on a surgery date to have a angiogram that should’ve been done 6 weeks ago .. however I recently been told 3 days ago from my eco gram I not only have to have my Aortic value replaced but my 3 other values are clogged.. my question is can this all be fixed at one surgery? I’m so scared I’ve never been sick like this ever and I’m afraid .. well I’m afraid I’m going to die if I don’t get this done ASAP my hands are tide it’s up to Dr’s to get the surgery on its way

I have a question. normally with a stent procedure you have to lie flat for 4 hours after stent placement, would the patient able to sit-up directly after valve replacement- and is this done open heart or can it be done the same way as a stent placement, which is what I was told from a heart Surgeon from another Hospital. and last but not least how long before the patient can leave the hospital after this procedure

Hi Doctor I have been watching all your valve and heart surgery videos including the video on How Not To Go Through Surgery or to prevent situations like this. Unfortunately My daddy passed away a few weeks ago and I was trying to understand a few things but the Surgeon was not that co operative or explained exactly what he did wrong. I have a few questions and also I want to also educate and help people understand the actual surgeries. I want them to see how you explained that everyone is different and may need to check very well if it is ok for them to go through this surgery or other kind of heart surgeries. How can I speak to you??? Would you care to help me with a Awareness and Education Seminar or Rally's. Im in Los Angeles California. I would appreciate your help!! Thank you for the information you provide.

I had a heart failure, on June 26, 2016, in Miami, FL and spent 16 days in the J. M. Hospital! I was born on December 24, 1963, with a defective aortic & a defective mitral valve in a women's prison, in Hungary, Tokol town. My mother was an inmate there, for believing GOD, and not having a job. My defective Aortic valve was replaced 1. time, with a SORIN A25, in September 15, 1986, than 2. time with a ST. JUDE 23AJ-501, on February 9, 2003 , this artic valve is now leaking outside, around the frame, because it was a defective Aortic valve. One month later it was recalled. Now I am waiting for the end of my life.
