So on you last pool you wanted more deep end, any regrets or things you’d do differently this time, around? How is your heat pump? If good could you share the model?
That deep end looks like it's only about 7ft.WHY if you are paying that money choose another pool shape, The fiberglass pools come in 9-10 ft depths.IDK
Came out great. My wife and I have a 16x35 pinnacle to be started in June. I have been watching videos like this on RU-vid for a while, this project came out great. It’s surprising how much more you have to spend besides just the pool lol electrician, fencing company, etc it adds up! Enjoy!
Yes, there are definitely cheaper options out there. But we’re happy with it and with all of our choices and there were no surprises. Congratulations on your upcoming install! How long did you have to wait for your installation date? My pool guy is almost two years out! A combination of people staying home (ordering pools) and supply chain problems. Our pool guys opened our pool on April 11 and we also ordered a cover cleaning. Now, if the weather would just cooperate! We do have the heater set at 70 right now and we’ll crank that up to 85 a few days before we use it for the first time.
@@Noelle1000 nice! We closed on our pool contract year n half ago lol and now my pool guy is booked 2 years out minimum. It’s crazy. Ours is gonna come to about what you paid as well. Our fiberglass pool was $73k, $8.5k fence, $8.4k retaining wall, and about $8-$10k for electrician to reconfigure n trench lines. We’re converting an old barn to pool house n pool in paddock area so it’s an overhaul. But we can’t wait till it’s finished like yours and enjoy it.
Looks great! What was the total cost of this project (pool, equipment, fence, autocover, stamped concrete)? We are looking to do something very similar.
Easy question…complicated answer! I think the basic pool package included - fiberglass pool (choice of white or blue fiberglass) transport crane pulling permits 4’ of plain concrete all the way around pool filter installation I believe that base package was about $50k. Note - our pool is a large fiberglass. Smaller ones are much less. Our upgrades - Custom color fiberglass - $2000 Fountains - $6000 Auto cover - $12000 A gazillion extra yards of concrete - $32000 Stamped (extra) and colored (extra) concrete - included in the above price Sidewalk drain - Not sure Heat pump - Not sure Saline system - Not sure Ozone filtration - Not sure So many truckloads of fill to level our yard - Not sure Retaining wall - $3000 (we bought our own blocks and had a crew put it in) Fence - $3000 (we bought our own fencing and had a crew put it in) Reconfigure damaged sprinkler system - $2000 I’d estimate that all of this was about $70k. So the grand total is approx $120,000. This does not include the landscaping/labor.
Looks great!! Just one question why go though the work of using hard pvc pipe on the whole project and skip out on what I am assuming is the flex that waded for the fountains? And why use ball valves instead of J-Valves?
@@Noelle1000 about to start one just like it with heat/cool pump. About 1000sqft of extra concrete. Extra $3750 for coping. Waterfront very high tide line so extra 6K for water pumping and tie downs required. Opted out of a few water jets. Base price was $89K but expecting to be around $100K when finished.
We LOVED it, but moved in 2018. It didn't shed during the six years that we had it. We just had a new pool installed at our current house. You can watch the video here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wIbU-sIsdX8.html
Yes, we used an automated robot. A hand vacuum. A hand skimmer for the surface. And emptied the basket daily. Though, this pool was installed with a ton of mature trees around it, so our maintenance was probably more than the average pool would need. The saline system required almost zero futzing around with chemicals. Dump a few bags of salt in every now and then. Done.
Very good video for us which want to buld a esay pool in home.I think it will become very funny to have a RGB led pool light inside the pool.I check thie pool light in the ebay store: stores.ebay.com/zhonzhifen0
I cannot understand why people spend so much money on such small, crappy pools. If you haggle with the manufacturer and installer, you can get a 20x40 inground with a 12 foot deep end for the same price, or cheaper than what we just watched. In 2004 I priced a 20x40 In ground, with an automatic cover for just under 13 grand. Backhoe guy wanted $600 for the dig, the rest was up to me.
You’re comparing apples and oranges here. Your DIY liner pool vs a professionally installed fiberglass pool. Did your DIY quote include concrete work? Heater? Saline? Fountains? Automatic pool cleaner? Winter cover? It all adds up. To each, his own. We are happy with it and are ready to do it again at our new house. Same pool. Same pool company. Same result. Satisfied customers and a beautiful pool that is almost maintenance-free.
Im thinking of getting one like tomorrow, and my color choice is the same, i was wondering if your pool ever looks green with that color (persian I believe). I would like it to look turquoise mostly, and that is what it looks like in the booklet they gave me. But i think it would be wise to ask direct owners of that color pool, how does it look mostly? Im in ND by the way, so I understand the cold cycle of frost.
Svetik, It does not look green at all. We moved last month to an acreage and are going to be putting in the exact same pool! Same shape. Same color. My husband and I hardly ever swam...maybe twice a summer. I just like looking at it! It's kind of my pond in my garden oasis. Time to start over...and make a new video! LOL :)
How is the concrete around your pool, any settling? I installed one in 2001 and backfield with sand...waited almost a year to pour concrete. ( I have one small crack, not by pool edge though) was the stamped concrete slippery when wet?
The Locust - there was some settling on the side where we had built it up and put in the retaining wall. It was mudjacked about two years ago. Full disclosure that my husband did all the dirt work and wall building. He has the right equipment but had never done a project like this before. So it probably needed to be packed a bit more. The slumping was away from the pool edge, so did not affect the concrete edge. No cracks. Just sloping. But we wanted to address the problem before it got worse.
Mayyyybe. We did put a pool in for them. LOL. Dachsunds have bad backs and swimming is excellent exercise. Though, out of seven dogs, I only had ONE swimmer! The others would skulk around and pray I didnt snatch them up and haul them in the water.
Really smart pool!I like it very much! It's better to have a RGB pool light there too. We have RGB Par56 pool led light for your excellent pool from our Ebay store: stores.ebay.com/zhonzhifen0
KC, this was almost five years ago...the cost of the pool is dependent upon the size that you choose. I think ours was one of the biggest fiberglass available (the max is 40' long...it has to fit on a truck. Ours is 18x40). The base package was $39000. That included pool, transport, 4' of concrete, permits, and installation. We added an upgraded color, fountains, heater, extra concrete (stamped and colored), retaining walls, extra deck, landscaping, and a fence. The total cost was probably closer to $70k complete. Youre welcome to come see it. Rich from Pools Inc is just awesome. He opens and closes our pool every year. If we have any problems, he is always here the same day to take care of it.
If we had it to do over, we'd make two changes. 1) We'd get the automatic cover (lots of trees!)($9,000). But, they needed to lay the tracks in the concrete, so the decision had to be made up front. 2) We'd probably get a more traditional rectangle shape. We love the look of the freeform, but, the reality is that the deep end just isnt very wide.
For the cover they have, we just dropped 3k into one almost identical here (SC). I love it as I have a blind dog and she isn’t at risk in winter anymore. I’d recommend getting one you can walk on safely, just because it’s a valuable item. They are expensive but we just finished our first year of the new cover and opening the pool was a fast ordeal because it worked so well. It’s also an expense you can save for and add later like we did.
Ok, that's me and this is me, too. LOL. We DID do it again at our new house and I heeded my own recommendations. Auto cover. Rectangle. It's working well for us. You can check out the installation video (2020) here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wIbU-sIsdX8.html
angels come in all forms just cos they don't have wings it's what's inside that's counts. Angels helping the most purest of Angels. the spirit is of an incredible force. God Bless you for helping these beautiful souls.
a thin layer of concrete over top of interlocking bricks? that's gonna be a problem over time, and not even a lot of time... amazing backyard though wow! and if u guys think that's expensive u should see the prices in Canada:(
There are no interlocking bricks. There is a layer of heavy gauge wire mesh that the concrete was poured over. Maybe that's what youre referring to? I just looked at the video. Yes, the wire mesh looks like bricks :)
We bought a house in Upstate NY with a inground 36x18 pool (has liner) the liner had lasted over 20years We replaced it. To replace the liner with install and fill with water, new pump, safety cover it ran us about $7,000. The pool company said the pool we have (which he said is top of the line in that category) would run $36,000. included the 4'concrete and chain link style fence around it. What did this entire install cost including all the retaining walls? I just cant imagine.
A definite advantage to a liner pool is that you can get a larger pool. Fiberglass is limited to what can fit on the back of a flatbed semi. I believe the largest fiberglass pool size is 20' x 40'. We wanted fiberglass, though, for durability. We have dogs that are regularly in and out. Liner pools cant stand up to heavy usage like that. Everyone we know who has a liner pool has had to replace their liner in the first five years.
I sell pools. Fiberglass is 10-20% more expensive than concrete and very slippery. Sorry folks. $$$$$ Stick with concrete. You can get a concrete pool for $25-$30K. Tia
Concrete pools in Nebraska are prone to cracking due to the freeze/thaw cycles. Plus, our soil is mostly clay and that would have increased the chances of that happening. We did our homework and fiberglass was the right choice for us.
Don't get me wrong, it's a VERY nice pool. Beautiful, in fact. I'm just suffering sticker shock. I never realized how much an in-ground pool costs. I'm guessing materials are probably a fair bit higher in Nebraska than Ohio (where I'm from).
If someone just wanted the bare bones package, that includes the pool, installation, transportation, and 4' of concrete. That cost would have been a flat $39,000. You can get an inground pool with a vinyl liner for much cheaper. We chose fiberglass for durability and to save money in the long run.
Steven Biars Umm...that's ridiculous! Buy a cabin next to a creek for that price! Swim as much as you want on the weekends with a getaway house and no pool maintenance for the SAME price! Lol
uh, that cabin will have maintenance (and depending on where you live, both will add/have property taxes too); and when it gets cold, their won't be a creek heater for that creek water by that cabin; either option will have overhead/maintenance costs; pool is right there in the back yard; you can argue pros and cons of both all day long
Thanks for posting the video and don't listen to the haters. My wife and I are in the market for a pool and found your video really helpful! Now that it's been a while, can you comment on anything you would've done differently or would recommend to someone like myself (that wasn't covered in your initial tips in the beginning of the video)? Thanks again!
Peter, we still love everything about it. But, there are two things we would probably reconsider if we had it to do over. 1) The shape. Visually, it's cool and love it. But, for practical purposes, the deep end just isnt very wide. Probably would go with something that is wider. 2) Would get the automatic cover (though, it was an addl $9000) Lots of trees create lots of junk in the water every day. Would be so nice to just close the cover during storms and at night.
Peter, We DID do it again at our new house and I heeded my own recommendations! Auto cover. Rectangle. It's working well for us. You can check out the installation video (2020) here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wIbU-sIsdX8.html
