Telly is enjoying quite the celebrity life! He's going on 13 and has been in semi-retirement for the last year. His fans are demanding updates, so here is a short video of the boy smiling so big that I had to share this. A few kind words and a little belly rub and Telly turns into a big pile of smiling mush. Such a little cutie patootie.
A little bit of background info - Telly was rescued by Hearts United for Animals (HUA.org) He came from a horrible puppy mill when he was 5. His rear end was paralyzed, and he had multiple other life-threatening issues as well. HUA tried back surgery at K-State, but no one knows how long the little blue dog had 'been down.' Timing matters greatly with back issues. We adopted him in Oct '07.
Telly is now an ambassador for HUA and for Nebraska Dachshund Rescue (nebraskadachshundrescue.org). He shows that one dog's life IS worth saving. His special needs also demonstrate that quality of life is judged and juried much too harshly by humans...because he is just about the happiest little dog you'll ever meet. ~ Telly passed away on March 15, 2015. He was 14 years old and I still miss my little blue dog so much. He was definitely one in a million.
