Man, this sucks, I bought a piece of property in the mountains of North Carolina, very rocky soil. I had to rent an excavator and dig about 300 feet trench to install the septic and waterline myself for my RV. I never heard anything about tracer wire until the inspector came. I’m not digging this trench! I’m just gonna dig down two or 3 inches and use landscaping stakes where the wire comes up and wraps around the Plumbing so if she tries to pull it, it feels like it’s very deep. As long as she sees Trace wrapped around the plumbing coming out of the ground do you think that will be enough? Thank you.
Do drinking fountains recirculate water or is it always fresh from the mains water pipe? Because I know of one that was cleaned with stainless steel cleaner chemical and other strong chemicals that I'm concerned if it doesn't drain and is recirculated then we've been drinking chemicals.
I did this recently but be careful if the old ferrule has left a indent in the pipe because when you put the new one on it can leak. I had to end up cutting off a piece of the copper pipe to have a "undented" surface. No leaks. But if cutting it off leaves you with too short a piece sticking out of the wall then you will need to solder on an extension as I did. Coupler, piece of pipe, torch and solder. Worked great but took time especially under a confined area. Tip..use pieces of sheet metal to protect the walls under the sink if you are soldering as you don't want to set it on fire.
What about the pipe coming from the wall? How do you hold the pipe coming out of the wall with a wrench to ensure it doesn’t stress the connection inside the wall when putting on the control stop. Wouldn’t the beauty sleeve prevent you from holding the wall and increase the possibility of the pipe snapping off inside the wall?
Just buy the tool, if you can afford a hacksaw, the assorted blades that go with it, and the channel lock and visegrip pliers, spend the $15 and get the tool. Is all that time and aggravation worth not having to spend $15? You drove to the store to get the valve which probably cost $9.00, fifteen feet down the aisle is the tool hanging on w peg hook for $15, get it, carefully ooen the package, use it, and then return it so the next guy or gal can do the same thing.
Your explanations are clear and concise. Thanks! What might get more channel hits would be to identify the codes in the IRC and IPC that you are explaining. You code have a channel dedicated to explaining the reasons behind the codes.
Worked for me using pliers, your first method. Good thing I had too little room for a saw! Took a lot ,10 minutes, to back the nut off the copper pipe to get to the ferrule the build up was so bad. I burnished the copper pipe tip to remove a couple of decades of oxidation and sliding off became much easier. Burnishing and sanding also helped making the new angle stop go together smoothly.
I am a facilities maintenance tech. I have a mop sink drain leak. I understand now what seal is not quite performing 100%. The mop sink is being used for a/c condensate. Two 100 ton units so there is constant very cold water flow. Rubber likes to contract and firm up when it is cold. Thanks for posting the pictures! 🇺🇸👍
