I'm Cozzie and this is where I take the tiny aspects of games and blow them up with words and such, Including reviews, analysis and video essays about gaming in general.
In reviews I talk about the history of each game, it's successes and failings compared to similar games, and any technical differences between versions while always trying to keep it concise and interesting. No 2 minute reviews, but no half hour rambling either.

I aim to up my production value with each video so if there's a gap between episodes and you're wondering why it's 'cause I'm staring at my computer freaking out about motion graphics.

All videos, and transcripts of each for those fond of reading, are kept on the show website at: localcontent.weebly.com/
If you're looking for a Patreon and want to donate please instead consider helping translate a video for those who don't natively speak English.

As HLD easily being my all time favourite game, your video has helped me learn so so so much more about wtf was actually going on and brings a weird sense of closure and resolution to everything I felt, learnt and experienced while playing this game. While HLD was Alex Preston and Heart Machines' labour of love in its highest form, I feel that same sense of conviction and devotion to the game through this video. From the art style to Disasterpeace's sublime score (The Gauntlet being an absolute marvel and masterpiece (sic) of emotional expression) this game and its world mean more to me than any other form of art ever could. Many thanks to you for succinctly and thoughtfully giving us fans this video that helps us make sense of so much that we may have missed in the adrenaline rush of embodying the Drifter through our playthroughs. Long live such Indie phenomenons and as a die-hard fan of the medium of video games, one can only hope that the AAA games industry will one day bring as much 'HEART' (sic) to main stream gaming as this small, indie upstart of a studio (Heart Machine) crammed into what can only be described as one of the most sublime experience of gaming I have ever had. These platitudes to their work ring hollow without the context and knowledge that your video adds to everything HLD, at least to this hopeless, blinded fanboy. May the passion of you and such creators (like Heart Machine, Disasterpiece and you) forever be remembered as testament to what Video Games can actually mean to the Human Experience. From the deepest depths of my heart , thank you to Anyone who played a creative, explanatory (academic) and experiential (read played) role in the all things Hyper Light Drifter. HLD is the highest blessing and boon to us mere mortals.

Imagine if 「Crazy Talk」 was reversed,Sane SIlence imagine if you had to constantly think only about good things and if you suddently get intrusive thoughts you are dead. I have the feeling i said something wrong previously but,hey back to the point. It would be like hey ya or something,but hey again,hey ya does not just grant you luck,i don't think i have time to explain everything. Just think how you can properly reverse 「Crazy Talk」abilities.

So, if you like landslides, Le717 made a single-service website that just plays that line over and over when you click a sandwich. Anyway, a fan-made remake/director's cut titled Manic Miners was released recently. It's fixed a lot of issues including the AI. Although I will note it does keep three quirks: - The game still uses dibs, it's just a lot easier to override. - Rock raiders picking up items is still completely random rather than prioritizing the closest ones. - Rock raiders still ignore priority specifically for getting items if they are on a tile with an item - for example, if you have "get energy crystals" above "get ore" and the rock raider has just finished shoveling rubble, they will grab the ore resulting from shoveling rubble rather than the energy crystal.

I just completed the game and it doesn’t even have a true ending, all of that journey for crystals, challenges, floraforms, starplants, and yet we get text displayed tying off with “You can play with POD a while longer just promise to be careful…” For a fellow achievement hunter/completionist myself, this is a saddening tie-off with no ending or resolution at all, and the fact this is considered a “ending” is a joke itself. Seriously, I appreciate the congrats from MOM but this is just not the 100% package I was wishing for, like what’s the point of the storyline anymore, it’s like I did this for a lousy text display file and that’s not the 100% or True Ending I was looking forward to at least to my standards. I feel this was rushed, but who knows because whoever what’s to complete this 100%, just do it if you committed to doing that, or if not, watch this video if you’re interested in spoilers (if you care…) The sad part about all of this is that it took me 7 years to complete this and I was through a lot of stuff during that because (excuse me) sh*t happens ok! So, finding this was the supposed “ending” is sad and frustrating, and I’ll leave it at that.

i think you may have misinterpreted the intro a bit judgement infecting the drifter to STOP him from finding the cell would make no sense as judgement has the cell but not its freedom its more likely that judgement infected him and then told him about the immortal cell in an attempt to bait the drifter into breaking the seal and finding the cell... and freeing judgment think like a genie poisoning you and then tricking you into breaking its lamp because theres a "cure" inside the lamp

They’ve actually been starting to expand more recently, Lego brawls is fairly new and is exclusively a platform fighter, as well as a puzzle game called Lego bricktales where the puzzles are essentially building prompts for the parts at your disposal, so we may be on the cusp of Lego games being varied and different from one another again
@hilariousskullnamedcatzo647
I've only ever played telltale lego games, but recently i watched a playthrough of rock raiders, and I'm already assuming "A LANDSLIDE HAS OCCURRED" is a common thing to have engraved in your skull if you played the game

4:34 what are these vehicles? an Ice Planet cargo carrier and a compressed chrome crusher with treads? As for NTSC vs PAL I get where you're coming from, it just feels like the north american version removes a lot of difficulty (respawning pickups, less monsters, no levels with strict time limits, etc), and you can tell its levels were not made by the DDI team and just feel less interesting overall.

I will admit, I’ve had a few moments like these myself recently, where I say something and get a little confident, only to be immediately shut down, like I’m confident I’m about to beat a boss in a game, and I say something like “Just one more hit, and you’re dead!” only to then be killed in one hit myself. *Crazy Talk is no longer bound to Pat. It’s gone rouge, like Anubis. NO ONE IS SAFE.*

I just finished this like less than three minutes ago. My interpretation is, Sci-fi stuff happened long ago. Things went wrong People died War happened Giant, biomechanical machines that looked like weird skeletons roamed the land somewhere in there? Somehow, people managed to harvest the organs from one, as shown with the heart and eyes in the underground area Genetic engineering happens The game's enemies are created from this The giant diamond crystal thing powering everything corrupts all the stuff connected to it and it kills everyone Time passes More time passes People start coming back, not knowing what once happened The Drifter somehow does know(?) He fights to stop the crystal from making everything explode like in the intro(?) Wins From here there's two interpretations that I had. 1. Everything is shut down, and everyone can simply start rebuilding society anew. The Drifter dies peacefully, knowing he saved the lives of untold billions. 2. It turns out it was all in his mind in some kind of Evangelion style introspective thing. There was no ancient society, or crystals, nor anything to stop. It was just him coming to terms with his own mortality. In the end, the Drifter dies peacefully, knowing that he's made peace with himself. Anyway though, that's my interpretation of everything as someone who has seen literally nothing of the game beyond what I experienced, and the trailers.

Fun fact: there is a recognized LEGO User Group (LUG) based in New Jersey, USA, named GardenSLUG (for Garden State LEGO User Group), as New Jersey is known as the Garden State. In the logo for the LUG, a Slimy Slug from Rock Raiders appears on each side, as it was one of the few, if not the only, LEGO slug visual when the logo was designed. Source: I've been in this LUG since 2014 and have seen it since 2013. According to the LEGO Ambassador Network website, which keeps track of and communicates with all recognized partners of LEGO including events, organizations and creators, the group was "reestablished" in 2011. So as far as I know, the Slimy Slugs have always been part of their logo.

Fun fact, when my brother and I would play the PC game often, my mom would constantly hear the warning of "a landslide has occurred". However due to the compression of the audio, my mom thought every time that chief was saying, something about a flashlight instead of landslide. So she would ask us, "will somebody get him a flashlight?"

This was an excellent review and analysis of the rockerider's games. I grew up with the PC version from a bundle that I found As a kid at KB toys that included 2 lego adventurers sets. I can remember my brother constantly playing this game and eventually beating it, while I only got to play a couple of weapons because he was older than me. A few times we did try to rebuild some of the Models from the game as actual lego models, We even owned some of the lego sets. Up until a couple years ago I didn't own a Playstation. But when I did get mine I didn't get the lego rocker routers game NTSC version for playstation. It was so stark in contrast to the PC experience that I haven't fully beaten it. I've been said, I had no idea that there was a different PAL version. I do find it fascinating that there was a saxophone animation removed because the saxophone didn't exist in lego, And yet the animations of rock raiders eating tricorner cut sandwiches was kept in, Even though a piece that small didnt exist for a long time either. Luckily nowadays, both of them can be adapted to lego figures very easily. I can't wait for more episodes in this series, because I really like the potential here investigating other lego video games and their various ports. I've done that to some degree on my own but I haven't posted much about it online
