I sat on the 800 standard. Im about 6'1-6'2 and 200lbs. I never felt such an uncomfortable adv bike stock. It is made as a very budget adv for new riders. I have almost 120k miles on my 02 vstrom 1k.
10k km and cams on mine about to go. Oil, radiator leaks, my 890 is a phenomenally untrustworthy piece of crap. My previous 1090r was solid, but the 890 ain’t
I looked at the SE (RE in the UK), and bought the DE a week ago, and I love it, even though my off-road riding will be limited. The slightly larger height fitted me very well, and no cruise, minor vibes small screen and some heat makes zero difference to my riding needs - it’s just a fantastic bike. It’s no noticeably heavier than my old L4 650 Vstrom, it more power, more comfortable, and the QS is fun! Regarding the Vstrom/Pstrom concerns, c’mon, get over this, it makes no difference! Try it, I. Sure you’ll enjoy the ride! 😀🙏
Olddated video : the Multistrada V4 RS elected best bike of year 2024 <for being both a missile on track and a great tourer>. I dont think that concurrence no matter the brand is gonna beat Ducati for at least a couple of yrs more.
Thanks Greg. Unfortunately, no IOM for me this year. Hopefully again next year, but we'll see. It was mega hard watching it all unfold and not being there!
@@renniescaysbrook2904 oh that’s a shame and I bet! Fingers crossed you make it next year and, if you do, my son and I will be watching! He races 600’s at club level and would love to try the Manx. I’m more nervous about him doing it for obvious reasons but I absolutely love the event. Cheers for replying!!
Just an FYI. There is a cruse control available. I put one on my KTM390ADV. A company that is putting out a quality kit. I would post the name but I am not trying to market stuff for them. Just help others. The name starts with the letter "V" It's up to you. I am thinking hard about the strom 800.. Good vid.
I test rode both and thought I would love the V-Strom 800 more - I nearly bought one without a test ride before. But honestly..I liked the Transalp way more. The motor of the TAlp sounds great with the stock exhaust - you can barely hear the Strom's Motor. The Strom has slightly more torque in low and mid range..but if you rev the Honda a bit, it works astonishing great. The TAlp feels better in the Twisties - just a bit nimbler. What I also liked more on my TA testride is the seating position. Both bikes are comfortable but on the TA you're sitting "in" the bike and not "on" the bike what I personally prefer. I don't really like the look of both bikes. The Strom is a bit ugly (that big exhaust does not make it better) and the TA looks boring with that CB500X headlight. The gear changes / transmission on the Honda worked a bit better for me than on the Strom. What also was a bit annoying on the Strom was the engine heat on the right leg. So..on paper (beside the weight), the Strom is the better bike for me. But after a testride, I would prefer the TA. I guess everyone is different - that's why testrides are so important.
I disagree.... pick different roads if your using/wanting cruise contoll with this bike... or a different bike cause your riding roads dominated by cruiser/gold wing crowd. I own a 2024 800de unit and it's mint!
Great video. It’s fantastic when motorcycle manufacturers offer road and off-road models of their bikes. Ironically the road versions see little press but they’re the ones most people need. Thanks for showing some love to the street 800.
How many km did it have when you reviewed it? I have an XSR 900 and the quick shifter gets smoother after 600km or so…it’s night and day. The suspension as well..gets better with a few km on it.
Looks like the tallest bike on the planet 🙂Hard to buy into "stiffer to make it softer" idea. Especially given you're testing it on a groomed track. Time will tell.
*We all still waiting for a KTM RC690 to take on the likes of RS660 - R7 - CBR650R - Daytona660* & maybe a RC690R to compete with R6 - CBR600RR & ZX-6R since that category is making a strong comeback.
I agree that KTM needs a RC690. They could probably use a sleeved-down version the 790cc motor from the adventure bike to make it work. The RCR 990 will be the supersport bike to race against the R6/ZX-6R/CBR600RR/Panigale V2/MV Agusta F3 800 and Triumph Street Triple 765 RS.
Depends. Yes, it's expensive, but it's got the best possible components, it's exclusive AF and I'd wager 98 percent of the world's riders would go faster on this than they would on a superbike.
@@cyclenews I think 98% of the worlds riders would do just as well on a Panigale V2 or even a GSX-R 750 for a small fraction of the price. A bike like this defines the law of diminishing returns.
The dry clutch adds nothing I need besides considerable expense and nuisance. I had my dry clutch moment with my first Monster 916. Delete and give us the savings. The optional heated seat fixes the hard seat. But my Pikes Peak, de-restricted by aftermarket, is the ticket for actual pillion touring.
I'm wondering when someone is going to do another comparison of the lastest crop of "retro" sub liter bikes. I've been eyeing the XSR900. I had a 2018 Z900RS, it was comfortable but just didn't do it when trying to hustle through turns and the wind blast was really strong above about 75-80. The 14 Superduke 1290R I had did not have that kind of windblast for some reason.
I have a husky 701 with a Quickshifter and have ridden several other bikes that have them and honestly I don't like them. Using the clutch to shift adds to the experience of riding a motorcycle for me but from watching different RU-vid video's it seems I'm in the minority.
Owned an older ktm 300xcw and prefered the Sherco 300sef 4s by alot. If I bought another 2s I might like to try the 250. I imagine it to be a.little more nimble and hear it has a bit more hit - or I might jump to electric.
i own a beta 300rr RE and rode my friends sherco and i really liked it. I orginally wanted one but the nearest dealer is 2.5 hours from me. Betas support to the customer and the dealer is hard to beat. With the nearest beta dealer being 35 minutes away and after riding all the other bikes but the sherco i loved the look and feel of the beta. I would be on a sherco if it were more convenient however i don't regret my purchase.
Lmmfao!!!!!! This is the most clown ass response I’ve ever heard these dudes are always bias the bias they use are what’s new? If it’s not new and perfect they rate it lower you could run the best version Ktm ever had and if they didn’t update something they’ll place it second to last 😂 foh
@@christophervillarreal8565 Do you always struggle with the English language? Why don't you edit that subliterate rubbish so that it is somewhat understandable?
makes no sense vs bmw m1000xr, when mxr costs much less, weighs less, has more power, looks better, handles better, is faster. only committted ducatistis buy this vs mxr. and... who wants that noisy dry clutch, especially for "touring"?
