You may know me from Flatpicking Guitar Magazine -- my arrangements have been featured since 2008. More recently you may recognize me as the guy from Lessons With Marcel. But, most people have seen me at the store.
I totally understand the “want” of tab BUT listen, slow it down, play 3-4 notes at a time. Repeat. I have been taking zoom lessons every couple of weeks with Mickey. I was at a festival for 7 days last week. I started inserting a lot of these ideas in the jam and my friends who are familiar with my skill set kept asking me where I learned all this. Buca Daca Buca Daca Root 😊
You have a real talent to explain clearly how to progress. My english is very bad and I understand all you say . I progress on guitare and also in english , wonderfull !!! Cheers from france .
It took a month, there are at least 20 licks here, completely altered my guitar learning direction in a way Mickey showed is awesome baby, really. It was hard.
Great lesson! I'm curious about the omission of the Bb, which is commonly used when improvising over C. Is this because the lesson is more focused on fiddle tunes, where (I think) the flat 7 is not so frequent? On the other hand, you do include the flat 3rd....
The b7 is much darker and bluesier than the b3 - these lines are designed to work over Major chords more than dominant chords. For dominant chords the lines would be different. Additionally, these lines will work over any chord in C - like Am, Dm, and G7… etc.
Unreal stuff I love this type of stuff it’s not overly complicated and it can be used in real life instead of a Bb75 over a 9 with a 6 on top 😂😂😂thanks Mickey I love your lessons I’m Gona learn a lot from u cheers my man .. Brian Ireland 🇮🇪🎸🎸oh I just bought strum machine it’s a great little app although sometimes I use a looper but strum machine is so convenient and great for practice thanks again so happy I found you .. excellent teaching I will be spreading the word bro about you 🇮🇪🇮🇪

Brian, Im glad you are getting stuff out of these lessons. Thank you for commenting. Do you ever watch the lessons with Marcel channel? I’m on there a lot. Also, some folks know me from the 15 years I wrote for Flatpicking guitar magazine. Let me know if you ever want to do a zoom lesson ! Thanks again Mickey
Thanks Mickey yes I started watching marcel some great information there and tabs I’ll definitely let you know if I want to connect thanks Mickey take care .. Brian
Great lesson! Thirds and fifths of the chords is the magic to start getting out of the static solo. You seem to be one of the only instructors that is saying it out loud. It feels great to start doing it in the moment at a jam! Thanks!
I didn't recognise you with the smart haircut! I prefer your jerry garcia look! Can you do a lesson on fitting minor scales over major chords please your lessons are priceless!❤
