WRONG!! Einstein wrote an open letter to the world to clarify that he absolutely did NOT believe in god. It was published in some of the major papers at the time near the end of his life. He was sick of all these claims that he must believe in god in some sense because of his famous quote. It's as if an atheist couldn't possibly have used sarcasm or a common idiom to make a point. I talk about Santa Claus from time to time but it's not secret proof I really believe in magical elves. For the record I do not.
Lots of my school friends growing up were just "culturally" Jewish and not particularly religiously observant Jews if at all. Let's just say quite a lot of pork and ham passed their lips when in mixed company. Maybe they did different at home for the parents and I didn't necessarily know. Also, the sabbath day was NOT kept holy. People did whatever they needed to do for work to get done any day of the week.

I'm a Catholic and I agree with stern and how his daughters are; that describes me. I'm not trying to convert the world, I'm not worried about ending up in a fiery pit but I do use a lot of the wisdom from the stories. Whether it's the Israelites in the desert or Cain and Abel, the stories aren't meant to be literal, but they convey .. idk how life works. I think God presented himself in different forms to different people as they needed it at that time - that's why so many religions have basically the same lessons. No need to crucify gays or make women wear shawls but the idea that there is a "God like" ideal I can strive for is nice. The Bible is really interesting when you can read it correctly.
