ha ha this reminds me of a Muslim explaining to me why he didn't eat pork but he said the BIGGEST reason HE didn't eat pork was because it is not good for you very unhealthy telling me this while smoking a cigarette and drinking a beer .lol
Im not judging Muslim ive met people who drink coffee with no sugar because its bad for you but have a cigarette with their coffee. Lol I wasn't trying to point out only Muslims I was just making a point how some people just don't make any sense sometimes but I used the Muslim as an example. No offense. I have many Muslim friends.that don't act like that
i was always wondering about this too.....Howard explains it very simply.....i always loved Howard, he speaks his mind and is open but if he doesn't like it ....step back.
Kosher laws were more about controlling markets. Pigs were relatively easy to raise and easy to breed. Even in America a lot of low income families can sustain themselves plus have a little income from pig farming. It was a way to control others
And leap forward to the New Testament, everything was written many years after the root of the stories, NOT a single word was written by Jesus! gossip, gossip already!
An interesting explanation. What Howard is saying also make sense - specifically pork gets spoiled quicker in hot weather than beef and lamb. Probably 4000 years ago both considerations were important.
religion is society. You are religious. If you are an atheist, then atheism is your religion. People form society based on various common values and beliefs. Religion is part of that. Holy books reflect people's attempt to understand God and the universe. God is the creator of everything and is therefore not a 'god of the gaps'. All science does is discover the mechanism God used.
I just want to apologize to my wife Nancy for, uh, the Jessica Hahn bathtub incident. It was stupid and I'll never do anything like that again and I love you and I'm very sorry. And I'm very sincere. And don't, please don't make a mockery of this. I'm serious. I'm sorry. Im not trying to bring the show down I just wanted to apologize. She's very upset. Thank you. I'm done Howard..
Pigs carry "the bladder worm" which remains as such in the pig but if piggy-porker is not cooked well enough, bladder worms transferred into humans, develop into tapeworm.
I don't belong to any kind of religions but this is the best food standard i've ever heard of so far proven by science and i firmly stand on this for six years now. If the whole world only knew this, humanity can reduce sickness and dependence on commercial medicines. How I imagine, if the world can be as healthy as day one.
what is the deal with HSS & RU-vid? Alot of the shows/videos have disappeared? Are they only aloud to be posted for X-amounted time? Could you shine some light on the question? thanks in advance!
I love Howard ,i am myself part jew but we can name us jews in any part of the world but not reconnized by jews in Israel if you are not judaic religion .I think we are all jews no matter what religion have or choose
1 The Big Bang. 2 Don't eat pork as in the video. 3 The ocean floor contains deep valleys and mountains (2 Samuel 22:16; Jonah 2:6). 4 Earth floats freely in space (Job 26:7).
If you look at the ingredients of most cat food pork is an ingridient, and I've seen many nature shows were lions and tigers are eating warthogs, and if I'm not mistaken they are part of the pig family.
He's wrong about the cloven hoof. He said they can't have cloven hooves, but its the opposite. Kosher land animals are supposed to have cloven hooves and chew their cud. Pigs have cloven hooves but they do not chew their cud. Cows have cloven hooves and chew their cud, that's why cows are kosher, but pigs are not.
@rusty1491 Really? So, there is actually a specific reference to boar as a sacrificial animal. Which historical document this information is based upon? Can you dig it up for me, please? Thank you
lukkyluciano ok but there’s a difference between the smell of cooked porked and the smell of burnt flesh of a pig, especially if it hasn’t been cleaned and skinned so the hair is also being burnt.
Im catholic. within catholicism, there is also this idea about suffering. Not not wanna being there, or not wanna be christian. But you concentrate on christs suffering, and ur own.
Lots of my school friends growing up were just "culturally" Jewish and not particularly religiously observant Jews if at all. Let's just say quite a lot of pork and ham passed their lips when in mixed company. Maybe they did different at home for the parents and I didn't necessarily know. Also, the sabbath day was NOT kept holy. People did whatever they needed to do for work to get done any day of the week.
"specifically pork gets spoiled quicker in hot weather" it's not just that they "spoil". certain meats contain and breed larger amounts of bad bacteria, than others. ultimately all meat is prone to bad bacteria because it's dead meat. once flesh dies, the only things that can break it down are destructive micro-organisms (dangerous bacertium & maggots etc.), that's why carinvores have such strong stomach acid and really short intestinal tracks.
The structure of your English sentence, my fellow, is too advanced for a second language speaker like I am. I wish you'd put commas and periods to guide me through the conundrum of your remark and allow me to fully appreciate its depth.
@Severddans I am not an expert on the issue myself, but I read that Torah - Jewish Bible was translated from Hebrew or Arameic into Greek around 100 A.C. Later on the Greek version was translated into other vernacular languages and that's why there are many different translations and discrepancies in it. If someone knows facts better, you are welcome to correct me.
Back in the Bible days Jews lived in very hot areas where pork spoiled within 2 hours as an oppose to lamb and beef that can withstand heat longer. If people would eat pork under those circumstances it would cause mass food poisoning and deaths. But the only way to keep those people from doing it was fear of God's wrath. If you were the leader of Jewish people under those circumstances, and wanted to save the nation you'd have to invent a very angry God.
if im an atheist... we dont have a religion.. we are just citizens of the world who think rationally.. and are finally standing up for what we stand for...and that is for the religious bunch to practice whatever they believe in the privacy of their home and church with people who believe as they do.. keep all religious activity away from the public eye and to especially not make social rules and pass laws based on any holy book...
Wow... When I came to the US and heard black people complaining about discrimination I thought they were looking for a handout or, at least, were living in the past. But now my opinion changed. Apparently there are many people who are scares to insult them in public, but apparently enjoy doing this behind their backs.
Hmm, after 2+ yrs this comment has yet to magically attain ANY relevance to the callers question. Odd. I'll try mine, and check back. I'm an Irishman... we don't drink water.
Slavery has horrible consequences. The same was in Russian for instance, except Russians enslaved their own people and not for 200 years but close to 600. But the consequences are very similar. You see slave doesn't really wants freedom, but primarily wants to get back at those who enslaved them. That's how the Communists seized the power back in 1917. It was European whites' and Arabs' fault for bringing them to America and now it's their duty to deal with them.
I like the health implications he brings up. Very interesting, I never thought of it like that. Circumcision might also similarly be a relic of when venereal diseases were rampant, and it offered some minute protection because you were supposed to fuck as much as possible, and people who follow the idea today don't realize it's been rendered pointless by medical science and condoms.
about the torrah thing i agree with Howard, when i was 13 and had my barmitztvah i had to memorize 4.5 pages. My grandpa would make me memorize it. He's really jewish and goes to synagague but not me nor my parents. When the day came i knew everything word for word. As the rabbi was pointing on each word i had to say it. The rabbi thought i knew what it meant but really i just memorized it word for word and his pointing on the word made no difference because i didn't understand the language.
At least four... You're funny man.... I had to do my own research and you'll have to do the same.... I'm not doing it for you. I don't mean to be nasty but when I wondered about certain things, I found myself having to look into things myself. One cool thing they have done is the Red Sea study and they have found a whole slew of Egyptian charriots and artifacts at the bottom. Don't think sunken ships deposited them there. No sunken ships to be found. Work still in progress. Rock Horab is another
The big bang theory is probably described in the bible in a passage that goes something like this: "from the very small came the large"...a description as detailed as any that science has to offer haha
Wow another deeply inspiring comment. Must be my luck. Incidentally, there's a difference between intelligent thinking and perfect English. The first one has to do with the person, the second one has to do with being born in an English speaking country. Lucky for me though I learned how to say "dumb fuck." Because in your case this term seem to fit really well.
You know it's bizarre. I spoke with a Muslim fellow who told me exactly the same about Allah. He told me that unless I dismiss all false prophets like Jesus, Jehovah, Baal, Buddha, etc. I definitely go to hell and not starting worshiping Allah I will definitely go to hell. So unless there are 2 different hells I inevitably will get in at least one of them. :)
and over all it has a decent message if you average out the bad with the good. And to clarify again... Im not speaking of making rules to ban religion.. i thought i made that very very clear... i simply said whatever people may or may not believe in should stay with them and their church.. yes I am for churches to still be up and running... let people pray their little hearts (and lives) away. My concern is subjecting the rest of the population to their obnoxious beliefs and ideals...
I don't think anybody really knows what went on that many years ago for sure. What Howard says though makes sense. So I think this is as close to the truth as we will ever know. :)
