Hello, my name is Antoine. I post videos related to model aviation. I have been in this hobby since I was 8 years old. I currently study at the University of Cambridge. Please check out my channel for interesting RC related videos.
You should use gloves and respiratory protection when cutting/using a dremel in glass fibre -> It's toxic. I would suggest laying carbon fiber bands around the firewall as well to ensure better rigidity of the motor mount
Even with this video sped up I can tell that you are very talented and take pride in your work. It really showed through when you were fitting and cutting the cowl. I fly aerobatic planes as well. I could see your rudder corrections and pulling and pushing to 45's. You have excellent control over the model. Keep flying!!
Nice plane, I curios how old is this model? i saw one frame for sale and good shape and wonder if i can jump on it or get newer pilot frame? any help appreciate it. need to know more about the frame thanks
Hi there, thanks. I'm not sure when exactly this model was released by Pilot RC. The model in this video is around 7 years old now. The frame still looks good but I have stored the model very carefully. I've also fuel-proofed the firewall and I clean the covering with a cloth after every flying day. The covering is starting to show signs of old age though. I think the condition of the frame very much depends on how often the model was flown and how it was maintained. I hope this helps
I taught high school shops for thirty years and was very lucky if I had one or two students a year with skills like yours and felt blessed when I did. Nice work young man.
I got mine complete with a DA70 finished and found it was really nose heavy and was wondering if you had the same problem? It needs 3/4 lb around the horizontal stab to get the CG right.
Hey there, no I did not have the same problem. That's very strange, I have had to add two batteries in front of the fuel tank for balancing, as I thought mine was tail heavy. Where have you fixed your batteries?
On the tray behind the fuel tank..I even have the rudder servo in the tail. Not the pull-pull setup. But I do have a 4 or 4-1/2” aluminum spinner on the front along with a Vess 24a prop.
@@caseyjones6197 Hmm, I think this is a very unusual problem to have with this model. I would be careful. It's also nice to have someone else at your airfield check your CG before your first flight. I balanced my model by the wing tube for my first flight.
I have a 111 in a yak from Pilot_RC, its been used for IMAC 5 years and then i reset setup to 3D (3-4 years)total more than 300L fuel, and the frame is total bustet and everything is loose. But the 111 runs like a dream:). So ill bye a new frame for at christmas:).. with my kind of flying and fuel (aspen with 3% castrol) i shift my rings every 100L fuel. And i really like bowmann rings, and they are on the marked again ,with a new man,who bought the old bowmanns mashine, Keeps a higher compression for loonger time,, Aim high-fly low ;) best regards. Max DK
Do it asap, they are so mutch easyere to handle, and with your tecnik its no problem at all. when you do, you will ask yourself, why didnt i do this a loong time ago ;) MaxDK
i just put together a fly models extra 330 sc, and i used savox 1256 every where accept throttle. I was just wondering how the savox seemed to do on the rudder. Im using pull/pull as well.
Hey, the servos do fantastic overall. Interestingly, I am also concerned about my rudder, I have seemed to mount the tail wheel too far forwards. As a result, the rudder does not centre naturally and the servo always fights back this issue. The servo itself holds up fantastically though!
Hi, the biggest difference is the amount of vibration. The DLE 60 runs much smoother as each piston moves away or towards each other cancelling the vibrations. I would say the DLE 60 has less power though as two cylinders do have more resistance and two pistons have more mass. I'm not very sure, I've never owned a DLE 61.
Hey Antoine i have a question someone gave me a edge 540 from a crash landing nitro gas plane and the piece of barsa wood snapped how do put it back together again? and the tail wheel came out and bent how do i fix that? And go sub to my channel the master of baskets please i will have rc videos soon. Thx and nice flying
Hey thanks, epoxy glue can pretty much bond any two pieces of wood back together. It’s hard to tell you anything without having a picture of the damage. There’s not much I can do to help, maybe the best thing you can do is go to a hobby store with your model
Antoine Great Job , you did very well , I don't know who was your teacher definitely did very well Job thank you for sharing this good informative video
Hi there. Quick question about the savox 1256 servos. A bit of an odd question do the servos make a chattering noise due to the weight of the aileron or elevator? I have a hangar 9 extra 300 carden edition with hitec 7955 servos all around and they make a chattering noise. The reason for why I was asking is because I plan on buying the same exact plane you have but the 35% version and was planning to put savox 1231sg servos on it and was hoping they will make that chattering noise. I seem to like that noise.
Hi, sorry for the late reply. Yeah I guess digital servos will always have a bit of a chattering noise. The savox 1231sg servos do have a lot more torque though, not sure how that will have an effect on the noise. Can't go wrong with anything from savox though. Have fun with your build!
+KATANA784 Hello, this is the 88" extra 330sc. I'm afraid I did not weigh the plane before building. The weight now with everything in it is around 18lb. Here is a link to their website with more details: www.pilot-rc.com/ProductShow.aspx?id=104
Hi. What color was the spinner that came with the arf? Did the arf come with plastic servo arms that are translucent or almost see through? Did the firewall come fuel proofed or did you fuel proof it? Finally, did the fuel tank come pre-installed with fuel tubing already plumbed and ready to go?
+Matthew Ede Hello, the spinner was red when it came with the ARF. The spinner comes in different colours with different colour schemes. I did not receive any servo arms. Strange, because Pilot-RC had said that the model was delivered with them. I currently use Secraft arms. The model only comes with metal servo linkages (pushrods) and Fibreglass control horns. The firewall did not come fuel proof. I mixed some epoxy with rubbing alcohol and used that to fuel proof it. Yes, the fuel tank came pre-installed. All you have to do is install the fuel filler cap. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for this much nice and fast reply Next problem is im little concern its become over power You feel its over power with dle 60 or not ? Because i have da 50 and da 70 Idont know what i have to do i have go for purchase da 60 or i can install da 70 without any problem
+milad keshavarz Hello, I wouldn't think the extra power would cause a problem. I wouldn't purchase the DA 60. I believe an airplane can only be overweight and never overpowered. Thats my opinion. Its up to your flying style. I regret not buying an EME 70 for this model. I believe my model can use more than a DLE 60. Besides, a twin will always run smoother than a single. I would go for the DA 70.
+milad keshavarz Also, I have seen some people use the DA 70 in the Krill 31% Extra 330SC. It flies great. I believe the Krill 31% Extra 330SC is still lighter than the Pilot-RC 30% Extra 330SC. The Krill Extra 330SC is completely made of composite materials. Maybe watching the Krill 31% Extra 330SC with a DA 70 will help your decision.
Hello its milad im from india I have same plane Iwant to use da 70 on this plane You think its ok ? Or any problem will happen ? Da 70 with muffler 60 gram heavier than dle60
+milad keshavarz Hello, I believe a heavier engine will have no problem with this airplane. The DLE 60 is also slightly wider than the DA 70. The DLE 60 is 276mm from each end of the spark plugs while the DA 70 is 270mm according to the dimensions on the websites. This means it may be easier to fit the DA 70 inside the cowl. The DA 70 will cause no problem and you will have plenty of more power. Hope this helps. Have fun with your build!
Hi, I want to build myself the same model with the same engine. My question: Do you have any weights used because the motor is too heavy or has everything fit perfectly? Sorry for my bad English (Google Translate is not better :)
+Kurzclip Hello, I did not need to add any weights with the DLE 60. I even had to put two batteries in front of the fuel tank for balancing. Even with the DLE 60 the plane was a little tail heavy without the batteries. Hope this helps with your build.
Luke O Hey, the build quality is great. The covering is amazing too. The model also comes with a very good package. Just like most of Pilot-RC's models, the plane comes with a carbon spinner, landing gear and a carbon wing tube. The fuel tank also comes pre-installed. My only problem with this model is that the paint on the spinner can easily be chipped.
Nice job...I built the same kit running a dle 20cc and comes in at a near 12.5lb. It didnt do so good on first take-off so Im scared to fly it now after $2000 invested. Is yours a kit though or the arf?
