How do I keep my new seedlings of Guara alive through the winter months? Can I safely put them in an unheated greenhouse safely? You help me so much. Thank you.
@budgetgardeningvita
@budgetgardeningvita День назад
Hi there! What gardening zone are you in? Gaura is usually hardy in zones 5-9. You can heel in your plants into the ground, plant the plants out directly in your landscape, or put them in an unheated greenhouse but be sure to give them water in there. Too much water and they will rot; too little water and they may dry out. 😊🌸

thanks for sharing more knowledge even while your busy potting up. Your information is always helpful when learning. I took your advice in previous videos and am saving some annual seeds. I did some moving plants around as well. Were i live a plant nursery would not be practical but every few years I divide hostas in the spring and sell them on facebook marketplace and did sell lots of strawflowers i started from seed this year. thanks for sharing.

You're so welcome. 😊 That's great that you're collecting seeds, moving plants around, and even selling some of your extra plants. Selling plants is a great way to share extra plants that you have and a lot of people enjoy buying from local gardeners versus big box stores. 🌷🌼

That sounds like a great task! It always takes me so long to find "forever homes" for plants in my garden spaces. I used to just plunk plants randomly without thinking about it. Now I think I spend too much time trying to plan the proper placement of my plants.😅 Plants are resilient and can be moved many times after all. 💗🌼 Happy gardening, friend!

I would suggest wild wood sorrel. Pretty pink or white blooms, make nice mounds, don't need to prune. In the ATL, GA are, they died back some in the winter, but not a lot. They are not annuals, and do well in shade, or sun with a bit more water.

I removed grass for another flowerbed and shopping my own yard to plant it. I have started a backyard plant nursery last spring and I have been busy potting up and watering. Feeling completely overwhelmed. My biggest problem is I am located in a residential area so I can’t have regular hours or high traffic volume. I thought maybe next year I can have a plant sale every Saturday or list individual plants on Facebook marketplace.

Shopping your own yard is the best, isn't it? It's definitely overwhelming this time of year when you have a backyard plant nursery. I had excellent results germinating seeds on a paper towel in a plastic container. Fresh seeds from my garden germinated no problem. My biggest issue by far is that they are so susceptible to fungus and molds. >80% of the plants died after so much work :(. The molds can attack at any time and even grown plants can suddenly start browning leaves and rotting flower buds. If you have fungus gnats indoors I wouldn't recommend germinating these indoors. The gnats go from plant to plant spreading mold spores and kill the vast majority of young plants :(. Growers in the US can easily order a systemic fungicide to help prevent this, but Canadian gov doesn't allow importing fungicides so all our plants rot :(
@rafalklepinski7372
@rafalklepinski7372 5 дней назад
First time with Lavender this year. I hope the seeds aren't as difficult as dichondra (silver falls). Those are incredibly difficult to germinate. I tried over a hundred harvested from prior season so they were fresh and only 3 germinated. I recycled the soil and they finally germinated many months later in other plant pots. Very very unpredictable plants and they grow ultra slowly to boot. I even tried with a heated mat and still nada until months later.

I loved this and have subscribed 💜 A few years ago I was at a friend's house that had a gorgeous angel fall tuberous begonia and I took some seed pods. Ive never seen such dust like seed and Im not the best gardener but liked the challenge I grew loads but only 2 made it to full size. I thought one was dead so I put it in the compost heap last year to my surprise it came back to life this year and I now have a fabulous plant I'm about to harvest more seed from 😂 Just a note I'm in Ireland and our weather is awful most of the time. My advice just have a go you never know untill you try 💜

I grew a yellow and red seeds, so many combinations one white flower in front back had stripes of yellow. I dragged my huge pot of Amaryllis in the garage. Have several baby bulbs starting. My two window boxes of year old Amaryllis the bulbs are size of a thumb now. Sometimes snapdragons overwinter themselves. Have some different colors that I did not plant. Have one petunias it's fourth generation. About 5 colors and patterns one plant in a 18 inch pot. Lots of seeds to collect. Thank you for sharing your yard with us 😂😂😂
