Two that always jump to mind for me when the X Files is mentioned is Home--that episode is one of the best horror episodes of TV ever made. And the other one is Vienen, in which Mulder and Doggett are investigating a series of deaths on an oil rig. But now that has me thinking about the Arctic episode in which Mulder and Scully experience their version of The Thing.

@thisphillipbrian great choices. I always answer this and wait to see others replies because I constantly forget about certain episodes even though I rewatch twice a year. Great picks . On horror episodes the host die hand die vertz I think it is is amazing chinga and bad blood

For Pete being her partner he sure never did much in any of the books. Barbara and Jerome always just seem to pop up right at the end to save holly. For all the reference and friendship she talked about having with Ralph from the outsiders he is never even really mentioned at all in this which I found weird cause she talks about him so much in if it bleeds. All in all though I love holly and bill Hodges trilogy. Would love to see more of this character and hope they do a tv show of this book like they did Mr Mercedes.

I don't really consider myself a Star Trek fan, but the book sounds interesting. I'd want to go watch the Voyage Home again before reading the book. If you find yourself looking for a fun fantasy book, I have to recommend "Small Gods" by Sir Terry Pratchett. It's book 13 in the Discworld series, but it is a standalone title. It does an amazing job of looking at religion and philosophy through a comedic and thought-provoking lens. The audio book is 12 hours and is performed by Andy Serkis who does a great job bringing the characters to life.

Not beyond words, but I think I ended thinking episodes 1 and 6 were good and the rest was mediocre or less than mediocre. They had some neat ideas, but some poor execution. I'm looking forward to Andor season two. I liked season one a lot. As far as Ashoka, when there are two exceptionally dynamic characters, like Ashoka and Thrawn, but I find myself distracted by everything else in the room... it's not a good sign. I am looking forward to the Patterson cut, because I think he can (for the most part) fix Ashoka.

Just finished this and I have only gotten about 30 seconds into your review, but I wanted to post this before I see what you have to say. I liked the first 75%. The ending felt cheap in a way. Kind of a cop out to me. But I still enjoyed it overall and will start the second book soon.

I loved when she steps outside the ship to do the repairs that they make a point of showing her magnetic boots (as if to correct the running problem of gravity not being a thing in star wars flicks, like they said to themselves "we don't want to look stupid"). Only to immediately have a fire break out in the same scene... there's no oxygen in space. Just pick a lane and stick with it. Either it is representational and you don't need to explain how a bomber drops bombs in space or how a horse runs on a ship in space because it doesn't matter, or it's literal in which case magnetic boots is the least of your concerns.
@Shadowkey392
@Shadowkey392 Месяц назад
You can have fire in space, so long as what’s burning is also supplying the gas. And it doesn’t have to be oxygen, either. It just has to be an oxidizer.

KOTOR reference! Which is better than anything in the show, so far. So here's the deal: I watched both of them. I thought Carrie-Anne Moss' character was a complete waste. I was excited for her in this show. And she was simply used for publicity and to give us Jedi master Trinity for all of 6 minutes. AmandLa Stenberg can act. And she gives some intensity to Mae and some humanity to Osha(OSHA? Really? To a character who is a Mech[a]nic?). Master Sol has some potential. X23 may as well, eventually. The rest of the cast, thus far, is bland. The writing is bad(I mean really bad). The acting is meh to bad. The sets are horrid. The clothing looks cheap and bargain basement. And then, if you paid attention to any of the press junket, it has given me even more to be worried about. This appears to be a show designed to be off-putting to anyone who likes Lucas's vision of star wars. How this show got double the budget of Obi Wan is beyond me. I read somewhere that Disney +'s Star Wars shows look like fan films. And, I have to admit, I agree(with the very obvious exception of Andor--which happens to be the best live-action star wars we've had in decades). I liked the first couple of seasons of Mandalorian. I liked some of Obi Wan. Book of Boba Fett is an insult to the character. Ahsoka was mostly tolerable--but probably because I love the character and Rosario Dawson is great in anything she does. However, Disney appears to be just breaking star wars with no end in sight. Perhaps Disney should give the show runners of Andor creative control. Because even Filoni is disappointing me of late. And he's put his seal of approval on Acolyte. I hope the rumors about the next episode are not true...

Yes. The first episode I liked a lot more than the second. It is a far cry from the excellence of Andor. However, it may find its footing.

I just realized something about McCarthy but most of his movies are extremely odd as if they're not inviting for non-whites or a more progressive way of thinking.......It's like McCarthy got off on playing the lovable douche bag throughout most of his work and now it's like you see that in his writing - most notable ''Walking With Sam''. It's like no my guy you hated the Brat Pack era but you had no issue milking it for what it was and barely did anything but play the ''conservative white guy'' in most of your work.

Whistlespeak was ok. Mirrors was mostly ok. I think I'm done with mirrorverse episodes in Trek, though. Why every star trek series feels it necessary to throw one in is beyond me. I think the last time it was done well was DS9. And, fwiw, I loved the idea of O'Brien trying to steal the Defiant(or was it build his own? Or both?). Incidentally, the Defiant is probably my favorite ship. Back to these episodes...to put it delicately, Tilly does not an endurance athlete make. Absolutely horrible choice. The prime directive violation and shattering this Culture's religious belief was treated as an afterthought. I did like the reassurance that Burnham gave saying that the technology shown doesn't mean there are no gods. It was nice. But the whole thing was a bit too cavalier. The only saving grace(see what I did there?) was that a different alien race interfered with this pre-warp society centuries ago and created what is essentially a cult of human sacrifice. And if Burnham really is called to task for this, that's the angle she should argue.

The Last Werewolf! Three book series. First person narrative. Has werewolves and vampires. By Glen Duncan. Amazing writer. I feel like I've mentioned this before. Favorite Anne Rice novel has to be Queen of the Damned(not the movie). I've read most of her vampire books as well as The Witching hour and The Mummy(or Ramses the Damned). But, you really can't experience the Vampire Chronicles without Interview first. It has an aura of mystery that was lacking in the later novels. Louis and Claudia's search for old world vampires, having no idea what was or wasn't out there. You have to also understand how Louis viewed Lestat. And how Lestat, at that time, behaved. If you enter the series from Lestat it gives a wholly different view.
