You have given me pause for thought regards the 1.75hp motor bogging down. I have been using a DeWalt jobsite saw for several years now, which has a 2hp motor, and I can't say it has ever struggled, even with some very dense hard and heavy timber. It never occurred to me the the F2 might struggle. Is your saw 110V or 220V? Does that make any difference? I am in NZ and we only have 240v or 415V three phase.

Dogs are dogs, they come from Wolves and coyotes, they have large canines for a reason. The problem is not with the dogs it's the owners. If i own a pet tiger that kills your ducks well people will loose their minds. Keep the dog away from the duck regardless of your feelings, things can turn instantly with wildlife and your helpless Hey baby your ok

Question about the switch. Why is the switch needed? Just so that you can shut it off so the relay does not over heat? I bought the relay and it came with a heat sink device but there is no way that device will fit in the deep electrical box. If someone has to remember to go to the dust collector to shut off the switch for the relay or even put the switch somewhere close to where you work, then I am not getting the idea of automating the DC to come on by opening a blast gate. I mean I get the convenience of any blast gate opening would turn on the dust collector and shut it off, but then we have to remember to flip that switch. I am not liking that option because then it would be easy to forget to turn it off. I have a remote for my DC and after watching several other videos on doing what you have done, and after wiring everything to make this blast gate automation, I am now stuck with the idea of having to remember to turn off a switch for something you cannot see or hear running. I was thinking why couldn't I have use an alexa enabled switch instead of the one I bought. That way maybe I could out some automation in place that says if the switch is on for a certain period of time, turn off the switch or send me an alert that it is on for say 30 minutes or an hour. Thoughts?

Yes that doesn’t make sense. I think his problem ripping the oak had a lot to do with the blade he used. He said in a different comment that he uses a cheap combination blade well if you are going to rip a piece of hardwood like that oak piece he should put in a good ripping blade.

I keep a large bird coup with several chickens, roosters, ducks, and a turkey.. we have them separated into groups by age and we recently got two duck hatchlings at ab 3 weeks old… they’re currently ab 5-6 weeks old and unfortunately, something has been breaking into our coup and hurting(killing) our birds.. the night before last, whatever it was, beheaded one of our two young ducklings… I found the rodent’s entry point and filled/covered it with heavy rocks, secured the chicks in that enclosure and last night, I secured the remaining duckling.. I didn’t get to do all that yesterday until dusk.. so I guess, in the dark, I didn’t realize the remaining duckling is also injured. There’s no way he could’ve done this to himself in the enclosure I secured him in last night. So I’m reckoning that this duckling tried to help his brother during this attack the other night and got himself either bit or scratched as well. I went to let him out of the enclosure I put him in last night and noticed blood on his bill and on his foot, as well as scattered throughout the hay in their enclosure.. so I figured I’d take all the hay out, and clean out the entire enclosure to get the blood and it’s smell out of what’s essentially this duck’s bed.. and I figured when I was done with that, I’d take this duckling and give him a bath so he isn’t stuck smelling his brother’s blood.. when I let him out of his enclosure this morning, he went straight to a corner in the coup and laid down, he isn’t making much vocal noise and at first, I just thought he was emotionally traumatized.. but his left wing is cut open in at least two locations. I’m still not quite sure how bad the injury is but I don’t think it’s life threatening. However, Ik an infection could change that. What do I do to clean him and dress his wounds? I was initially planning on bathing him with dawn dish soap but now that it’s apparent that he has an open flesh wound, idk if that’s safe to use. ANY AND ALL ADVICE IS GRACIOUSLY WELCOME.
@TheMcKeelsWoodworks
@TheMcKeelsWoodworks Год назад
Wow! Sorry to hear about your situation. We had chickens for about a year without any little visitors, but the first week we had ducks there were multiple times where predators came. A snake ate of the ducklings. A dog attacked another. And big birds took the others. . . I believe it is their smell. Predators can smell them and they are practically defenseless so it makes for an easy meal. My advice is to let your duck rest and slowly build his strength. Ducks are really tough and they heal quickly. But how to keep them safe. Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas because our cage was sealed tight and animals still found a way. Please let us know the end of your story!

Excellent review, love the assembly preview. I just bought one, have heard lots of Naysay about the belt tracking and underpowered motor. I plan to use mine for fine finishing of smaller workpieces like end grain cutting boards and butcher blocks, frame edges, small furniture pieces, game boards etc. I do not feel like i will have these issues. But I can see how it would definitely draw a lot of amps if the work piece is too large and/or unsupported. I mean, this is just an overgrown benchtop machine. Maybe it is one of those machines that is screaming for an outfeed/infeed table. :shrug:

Does the fence actually stay true when setting up for a measurement? My current table saw when I set my fence to say 8 inches, the place closest to the fence handle will be 8 inches from the blade but the far end will be 1/16th of an inch off or so. So I have to constantly measure the front and back of my blade to the fence and keep taping the fence over and over again to make sure I'm perfectly parallel. I'm wanting to upgrade my saw and love the SawStop but the Laguna F2 seems perfect for my needs, with a lower price tag. I just don't want to have another fence with this issue
@TheMcKeelsWoodworks
@TheMcKeelsWoodworks Год назад
I have had it for two years and haven't had to readjust the fence. Though I am a seasonal wood worker and don't use my equipment as much as some shop owners. There is a way to make those adjustments under the cast iron table top. Check out stumpy nubs table saw adjustment video he has a lot of good information on this topic.
@Trytec96
@Trytec96 Год назад
@TheMcKeelsWoodworks ya it's not that the fence slowly comes out of adjustment over time but the far end with swing in slightly when I clamp the fence down. I forget the term they use for that but I'll check out that other video you mentioned. Thanks!

Little clarification - the 3 and 4 post on the relay are sensing DC voltage - it won't sense DC voltage until the blast gates are opened therefore completing the circuit of the "Phone charger" which is really just a DC power supply. Once the relay senses DC voltage on the 3 and 4 posts the contacted closes completing the circuit on the 1 and 2 posts. Basically once the 3 and 4 posts sense DC voltage it shuts the "Relay" in the SSR and completes the AC circuit starting your dust collector.
@TheMcKeelsWoodworks
@TheMcKeelsWoodworks Год назад
That sounds good. Do you have a specific concern with the set up? I am sure there are more than one way to the same result. But the way I show it in the video is the way that works well for my set up.
@kennethfeld6639
@kennethfeld6639 Год назад
@@TheMcKeelsWoodworks No, your setup is fine, just clarification on the fact that the DC and AC have zero to do with one another. The DC merely is a sensing line to close the relay to complete the AC circuit. DC also doesn't have a "Neutral" it is just positive and negative. Maybe I have spent too many years dealing with both at extremely high voltages and amperages. At the end of the day your setup is perfect, just the terms used were a bit fuzzy.
