The Great Detector Van Hoax or should I say 'Con' TV Detection - be afraid, be very afraid... and then think about it for a moment. Did it ever work, back when chips were valves, and TVs were small, wooden objects with a screen the size of 50p piece? Maybe, but they never had the equipment in place to do it properly, it was too expensive and time consuming. But today , in the 3rd decade of the 21st century, not a chance. and if you have any kind of engineering knowledge what so ever you'd know why! , I'll make it simple for you,"We have gone Digital". Not forgetting the Internet. What do we know? Well, we know that Detector vans are not driven around our neighbourhoods anymore, with the intention of just being noticed by Us all, the 'Gullible British Public' so we'll rush off down to the Post Office and renew our tv licence without delay.The BBC has stopped 'completely' perpetuating the narrative from days of old , "We know if you have a TV or not and we can even detect what channel your watching" L.O.L 😂 - We also now know 'officially' that the so called Detector van evidence has NEVER been used/presented in a Court of Law EVER. The BBC themselves never refer to them these days. Why would that be? Surely the detector vans must be a better deterrent to evasion than the made up threats in a letter? The problem is that it was all a hoax, a con and in carrying out this huge deception on the British populace since 1946 , the BBC have proven what a bunch of devious, two faced lying ...... Well you can fill in the rest. The weird thing is a few months ago I visited the Daily Express newspaper website and read that the TV detector vans are still out there and you can get fined Up to 1000 pounds if you're found not to have a TV licence while watching live television. L.O.L 😂 you've got to laugh , The TV licence deceptive narrative has been perpetuated for so long , '78 bloody years' it can now be seen clearly for what it is "Totally Ridiculous"
You did a reasonable job of pronouncing 'procurator fiscal'. It just means prosecutor. Have a practice at it, say it over and over until it rolls aff yer tongue and then add a Scottish accent and you're good tae go.
Just been sent a letter this week? I don’t watch bbc iPlayer and I don’t think I’ve ever had an account. I’m not even sure what it is? Could people be scammed into it by accidentally clicking on something that they never intended? Not sure? 🤔
I have cancelled my license today. Could I watch 'TALK' live as it does not use the transmitter network? No one seems to be able to answer this question with a basic or straight forward answer. Anyone have any ideas?
Just had a letter to say BBC records show that someone has used BBC iPlayer on a number of occasions over recent weeks. The no license status is now invalid and will soon be cancelled. Anyhow, just phoned them. The lady on the phone sounded like she was trying to trip me up asking if I ever had an account. Obviously I didn't lie, told them I did. I dont remember the email used however (which I dont, as I have many). Has me concerned now. I have not used BBC iPlayer myself. Have asked my Wife, and child... they "say" they haven't as well. I could be logged into my account at other premises from a while ago (airbnb properties). I have checked devices connected to my broadband, I don't see how any neighbours have used my Internet recently as I changed the router and therefore login details since one neighbour borrowed my Internet. How can I see who has used my account and where? I don't want to be on the wrong side of the rules on this. I am as straight as they come. Can't delete app on TV, don't know how to access BBC account in order to delete it either, could be any number of emails.
A ringcam sorted out these capita muppets 100%, as they have now learned that once they are being recorded they can't act like nazis and have nowhere left to go, plus it catches them cold calling, so the minute the see the cam on the door they turn and scurry away......which the ring cam captures. Lol
Hello ChilliJon iv'e just come across your video ref tv licencing, i would like to point out that as you know live tv means what you watch something which has not been broadcast before, now we have bbc iplayer which if you want to watch you have to put in if you have a licence, if you have, then you can access iplayer, but if you have not then don't go any further, as you will probably get caught out, now we have itvx, channels4/5 to go to and watch catchups and in some cases if they have only been on an hour ago, as long as you don't go to the live section you should be ok, which brings me on to the situation of lots of programmes which if you notice in the papers or tv times show the letter R for repeats can you watch them,
Just had a letter saying this today. I told my wife beforehand when we cancelled our licence we would get scare tactic letters, and sure enough, they have started .
Same here, got a letter today saying I can’t opt out of my licence anymore because I’ve used the iplayer in recent weeks, which I definitely haven’t. There is also no way to reply on the letter
Can you listen to radio via iPlayer? I thought radio was ok but apparently they write to people saying their records show recent sign-ins to bbc iPlayer so their ‘no licence’ status has now been cancelled. What’s correct?
I’m a Scottish woman who phoned tv Licence to inform them I don’t sponsor pedos . He also said if I’ve got sky or virgin I still need a license. I was ranting at the guy he thought I was mad by the end of our call 😜 . They said they would contact me again in a year .

No license for 20 plus years now, but I don’t watch live tv anyway. I’ve removed the license authority’s implies right of access, like the post office have, so they can’t even knock on my door.
I believe that van can see if a tv is on or not but i don’t believe it can see what is on the tv or even work though walls without line of sight and i def think even if it did work theres no way anything like that works now with digital stuff. I mean im on my phone rn what would a van with a beepy line be able to see what I’m doing on it. Its all lies to scare people into paying the fee its time we abolished the license fee and stop letting the bbc bully people into paying a unneeded fee
As a kid when I was 12 in the 70s . I was really into electronics specially radio I built my own pirate transmitter. Any how my poor mum always feared the TV licensing adverts. But really I was confident that it was a sham even back then specially as we lived in a tenament tower block ha ha.
NO YES NO YES! Who do they think they are? STAZI. Its just another tax on already over-taxed lower income people. Its not value for money. The drama used to be good on BBC but if we wanted to watch it now we should have to chance to pay per view. I won't pay the license fee or give in to fear by the numbers of threatening letters they're sending after about 15 months of living here without a license. I have had the 2nd final warning and am waiting for the visit which will not find a chatty welcome. I DO NOT WATCH BBC OR ANY OTHER LIVE TV AND CHECK RIGOROUSLY ON RU-vid SO I DON'T BREAK THE LAW! Please can you help. I'm so confused. I watch TV so rarely I just don't want it anymore however I do watch RU-vid. There are channels on RU-vid that do live chat and live urbexing. The TV licence company told me I need to have a licence which I do have for this. I want to give up my licence but obviously can't if I watch this type of content. I wouldn't watch live news or anything like that but surely I don't need a licence to watch Joe public type of channels?
