Kansas could have gotten a rematch with Florida had they gotten to the Final Four that year - their bracket was on the same side as theirs - but they couldn't get past UCLA to get there.
@ cute squad I was just wondering if you had 1996 ncaa tournament frist round 15 seed south Carolina state vs 2 seed kanas in Tempe Arizona 1996 ncaa tournament round of 32 second round 10 seed santa Clara vs 2 seed kanas in Tempe Arizona please do more please of kanas basketball game classic of kanas jay hawks am interested in more my friend
To this day, I have absolutely no IDEA how teams just somehow magically fall apart in the second half when they've had a double digit lead on KU. Idk how Self does it, but it's absolutely infuriating to watch again and again if you're an opponent.
AJ Abrams had a sweet stroke, unfortunately he wasn't drafted, now if I were a general manager, I could use that beautiful stroke on my squad. He could be in the league, making millions, instead he took his game overseas, best of luck to you AJ stay gifted and blessed!
@@mattneal5257 Oh yea, I think his height, hindered him from getting drafted, they said, he was the teeniest player going into the draft back in 2010. Do you know, if he graduated with his degree? I'm glad he made his money overseas though.
@@largec I don’t know if he graduated or not, but I was at this game and at the game @ Kansas a week earlier. Both were great games and it was fun seeing Abrams in person. And of course Durant. I had never seen a visiting player do what he did in the first half in Lawrence
After this game, both coaches had not met until the 2013-14 season. Also, Ohio St lost at North Carolina that same season and by the Final Four, the team who lost those two regular season games were in Atlanta while the winner lost in the Elite 8.
BigXII has ALWAYS been a very very solid basketball Conf. Should won more National Titles. Especially in early-mid 21stCentury. KU/OU/OklaSt/Tex/ISU had some outstanding squads. Then KSU/Mizz had a few top25 teams as well. Mizz made 2002/2009 Elite8. KSU made 2018 Elite8. 2002, 2003. KU×2, Tex,OU made FFs. BigXII has won 3 National Titles in last 14yrs. For example? Big10 hasn't won a single National Title in over 22yrs.
Good to see that Kansas opponents had to play 8 on 5 back in 1997, too. Cato and Pratt were getting murdered all game. They didn't get those calls in the tournament, which is why they choked against Arizona. Neutral refs is partly why they only have two titles in the last 32 years despite all of the talent advantages, and it took massive chokes from Memphis and Carolina for them to win those titles. The announcers love them some Kansas.
I recently found out he went to my high school and I think it’s so cool to have an actual NBA player go to my high school and now I go to that high school and I see his Bull’s jersey every time I go to basketball practice
And 19 years later, he won 2 titles, 4 final fours, 16 regular season titles, 9 conference tournament titles, and a 309-17 record at Kansas. Plus being the #1 overall program in wins as well. Jay Bilas with hair that is absolutely. Well over 700 wins, plus 9 30 win seasons at Kansas. Plus a plethora of coaching of the year awards. I think 2 time AP coach of the year, 6 time Big 12 coach of the year. Bill Self is a hall of famer for a huge reason.
This is the game that made me hate ISU with the way the fans acted afterwards. Least favorite team in Big 12, next to K State. They basically took the place of Mizzou lol.
Shot clock was was used for the regular season as an experimental rule for the last year in the 1984-85 season. In 1985-86 it was a full time rule meaning it would be used for the NCAA tournament.
I think this was the first game I saw Coach K, he impressed me so much,,,,I became a Duke fan that day and for the next 35 years....I loved when Manning came out of the game with just a few seconds left, Coach K clapped for him,,,. I think everyone knew Coach K would be back there again, but not sure if they had any clue how many times!
