they didnt put away duke early i guess you didnt watch this game or you're just stupid or biased or both. duke came back and would have won if they didnt get so many bad charging bogus calls and if john smith didnt break his hand in the sweet 16.they could have used his scoring he had 12 points in the first half when he broke his hand against rhode island
they didnt put duke away early since duke came back and cut it to 3, and that three pointer by duke that was halfway down and came out was a huge shot that could have turned the game. also duke not having john smith for this game since he broke his hand in the sweet 16 took away another scorer duke had to help them score and beat kansas

I think this was the first game I saw Coach K, he impressed me so much,,,,I became a Duke fan that day and for the next 35 years....I loved when Manning came out of the game with just a few seconds left, Coach K clapped for him,,,. I think everyone knew Coach K would be back there again, but not sure if they had any clue how many times!
The draw helped Kansas. Each team that was seeded above them and would have been the next opponent was beaten the game before they played Kansas. But that can happen in a single elimination tournament. Kansas best everybody in front of them on the way to an improbable national title.
Also? Final Four being in Kansas City in 1988 was decided YEARS b4 this. An unranked, 11 loss #6seed Kansas entered the NCAA Tournament and won it all. Kansas State is the team who chocked. They were a top10 team all season and had already beaten Kansas THREE TIMES in reg season. KU beat KState by double-digits in 1988 Elite8. Imo? Danny Manning is the GOAT player in NCAA Tournament history where he single handedly won 6 straight games for his team win it all. Carmelo Anthony is up there too. Guess who Anythony beat win National Championship? Jayhawks. KU has played in 9 National Championship games. (3-6) rec. Just been unlucky. Very easily KU could have 6 Nattys or just have 1 or none. NCAA Tournament is by far THE HARDEST POSTSEASON to win of any sport(pro or college.) You have win 6 straight games vs 6 opponents who in turn where good enough make the Tournament field. One off night shooting or one ON NIGHT shooting by an opponent? You're going home. Play ALL you're games away fr your homecourt. Kemper Arena is no Allen Fieldhouse. Lol. If you dont know that you dont know college basketball. Also? NBA postseason?A team can literally lose up to 11 times and STILL WIN the NBA CHAMPIONSHIP!!!.

So lopsided in favor of Big12. Yes Duke/UNC won more National Titles, but it's just part of college basketball Gods. Luck plays big part. KU has been extremely unlucky in National Title games. everyone here talks about kansas defense, but duke's defense was more impressive shutting down kansas in the 2nd half and coming back on them. they would have won if john smith didn't break his hand in the sweet 16.duke needed another scorer and he was it.he had 12 points in the first half against rhode island then broke his hand midway through the 1st half.also duke got so many bad charging calls in this game. only the brickey one was a charge and the ref called that blocking,also the sooners didnt have the defense to beat kansas and stop them like duke could, and pritchard at the 1:13:10 mark where he stands next to the player and falls down, a year later at duke he tried the same thing and got called for the foul, but here he gets the charge call, what bullcrap
