Omg...i need you sitting right here beside me. 😢😂😢...so much to learn. All i wanted was to clean my phone up the quick and easy way...i definitely will take more time getting ready ❤😂😢😮😅😢
Hi Mollie! Great overview of the new iOS 18 Apple Photos. I cannot update just yet. But to view the photos without the screenshots or to view only the screenshots will be very useful for me. 😉
I'm using Mac for more than 10 years and I've never used Photos App. Every time I make some researches about using it I just realize again that I am right about hating this App.
Once you transfer your photos, videos to a folder on your desktop, can I delete the pictures on my iphone? And will the pictures and photos remain in my new folder on my desktop? Can I just move all the photos and videos to a folder on my desktop instead of copying them?
If the shared album doesn’t take space? What will happen if I delete any photo from my library (which I have added in shared album), will it automatically deleted from shared album as well? If no, will it consume space from my i cloud?
Hi there - I don't believe the photo deletes from the Shared Album. You have to delete it from the Shared Album to delete it from the Shared Album. I don't believe it consumes space in iCloud either. It's a weird thing. . . but I still don't recommend saving any photos in shared albums - it's so difficult to keep track of what is saving where and what happens if Apple decides to change their policy on Shared Album storage? Much better to keep it in your own Photos library. Here's some more information: support.apple.com/en-us/108916 Hope this helps! Cheers! Mollie
Apple should address this issue especially when you are not connected to the net. Just recently use i phone and i got stuck on how am i going to transfer file from iphone to pc.
Hi there - this solution should work when there is no internet. The phone connects to your computer via cable. However, if your iPhone is optimized, then you would need the internet to get your photos back down to your phone. It is a challenge! Hoping this was helpful. Mollie
Hi there, I wanted to know once you transfer all of your photos and videos from your iPhone to pc, is there a way for you to retrieve them if you wanted them later on on your iPhone?
Hi there - it would be complicated. You cannot copy photos back to your phone in the same way. You'd have to go to iCloud.com and upload your photos there to come back down to your phone. (You would have to have iCloud enabled for your iPhone Photos library.) Hope this helps! Mollie
@@Pixologie ah okay, I’m currently uploading my photos to iCloud, but I know once I delete my photos from my iPhone it deletes it on iCloud as well. The reason why I wanted the photos in a safe place is so that I can clear my iPhone storage as I already used up 1TB of storage. I was really hoping that there would be a safe to transfer back those photos on my iPhone one day if I wanted to
@@Pixologie sorry my apologies I read your comment wrong, so disregard my last comment, but thank you so much! I’m glad that’s a way to transfer and import photos and videos from pc to iPhone and iPhone to pc. You’re a life saver!!
Thank you so much. I watched many other videos and they were suggesting third party apps that wanted full access to your pics. I wasn’t comfortable with that. I wish I can buy you a few drinks. My question is, I want to keep those AAE files because I need those changes. How do I convert those to JPegs?
Hi there - unfortunately, AAE files cannot be converted to JPGs. You could potentially download the edited photos from iCloud.com and your iCloud account if you have iCloud turned on. Hoping this helps! Cheers! Mollie
@@Pixologie just had a friend lose all of her photos in Helene. Currently organizing the digital ones, then after the photo scanner arrives I will start the task of digitizing the decades of the past. That is after we survive Milton : crossing fingers: luckily I’m not in a flood zone. But covering my windows as I speak.
Hi, this is definitely something I need for my many family videos. Now, is there a length limit for uploading a video? My family videos are generally 2- 3 hours long. Also, can I upload two videos to join them into one movie? Thank you
Hi Lidia - Glad to try to help here. . . Where are you uploading the video to? Usually, people edit their videos on their computer and then export to their desktop or another folder. Yes, you can edit two videos together. Also . . . in the latest Windows Update to 11 - this video editing feature is now gone in the Photos App. UGH! If you've updated, then here is an alternative program: ClipChamp ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2-zWNjfYNyU.htmlsi=l6vM810tdshnNMq7 Hope this helps! Cheers! Mollie
Hi there - Click select at the top right in the Library View. Then click the Share icon. Scroll down the share options to "Add to Album" Hoping this helps! Cheers! Mollie
You lost me at ‘subscribe’ the cocaine of corporate greed! Getting back into Photography (after a decade of shooting chrome and drum scanning my best shots in the 90s) but there is no reason to be putting my stuff in any trap by which companies (effectively) own your work and let you borrow it back for a “fee” and the government and courts BACK THEM UP!!! 🤬
Hi there - thank you so much for watching and commenting. I too hate the subscriber software model. I use the free version and then folders on my computer - backed up to a hard drive and to iDrive (also a subscription!) Cheers! Mollie
Thank you, Mollie for this video. I think that I am going to be using Forever for my permanent storage. I do have a question. If I needed to export photos from Forever to my computer would the tags that I added go along with the exported photo? That might be a reason to use tags vs. People. I plan on using Forever as a way to share photos with my family.
Hi Caro - What are you exporting photos from on your computer? If you are using a software, you will need to export with tags for your people. Facial recognition software is specific and viewable only in the program it was used. I'm happy to chat if you like! calendly.com/mollieb/forever Cheers! Mollie
Years ago, when we would have a big snow storm and I got a few extra days off work, I made a project for myself to put loose photos into scrapbooks. Fast forward a few years later when I found out how the scrapbooks were damaging my photos, I spent snow days taking the photos out of the albums (many had to be peeled off the pages) and putting them into acid free envelopes and acid free "shoeboxes". Then life got busier and not all photos made it into the envelopes. Or I took some out and never put them back in. Well, I started last week organizing all the envelopes and trying my best to figure out where the loose ones go. At this point I discovered your channel. I'm watching RU-vid while sorting. As it turns out, I did the decade, year, month method a few years ago for the majority of my photos. This helped a lot. As a matter of fact, when my husband passed away last year, I was able to locate most of the photos I wanted to find for a Celebration of Life gathering relatively quickly. As I finish up the last of the sorting I am thinking about digitizing. I am not very good with the computer and the photos I have copied to my computer from my phone seem to have gone to random places in random order. I need to do some studying up before attempting this again. I am going to scan the oldest historical photos and the most precious of my more recent photos. I've traveled a lot and now realize that landscape photos although pretty are not really as important as the photos with family and friends in them. I went to a scrap book party years ago and I didn't like that they were encouraging us to cut out most of the background in the photos. I find that I enjoy seeing someone in the kitchen at Thanksgiving or in front of the Christmas tree in the living room to be just as interesting as seeing them without the background. I love to see how the background looked and that brings back a lot of memories. I am hoping to be in touch with you at some point in the future and get some advice about digitizing resources. In the meantime, I am watching all of your videos! Thank you. I love your presentation and joyful spirit!
Hi Doreen - loved reading about your background. I was a scrapbooker as well many years ago. And I DID cut photos that I can never replace. Happy to be a resource for you! Good luck with your current work! We have a fun community with virtual workshops, Q&A and more if you to want to know more: www.thepixplan.com. Cheers! Mollie
Interesting that her 2 favourite "programs" are subscription based. I'm looking for a photo management program with a perpetual license. Think I'll stick to windows explorer backed up to OneDrive (which I already have) and synced to an external hard drive.
Hi Creative Bean Art! Thanks so much for watching. Mylio is subscription based, but Forever - you purchase the storage you need and just pay once for the storage. It is very easy to share photos with other family members especially old scanned photos and more. I also have clients using File Explorer backed up to OneDrive and and EHD as well. Cheers! Mollie
Your directions are vague and often confusing. Your frequent use of “sort of” makes information uncertain. Why not reviewing the information from the creator, Apple and present your data with a list of essential steps in a table?
I’m having trouble when I tried to add a text to the picture. It is not allowing me to change the color of the letters. Do you know if this is a common problem with the new update?
Hi there - I never add text to my photos. I see in the edit area (sliders) below the photo, you can markup with pencils. Is that what you are looking for? Cheers! Mollie
Hello is there a way to take my photos from iCloud and put on my PC or external drive, so that they can be viewed without being online or using iCloud? Thank you.
Hi Harley - I apologize as I was out of town. Do you only have the photos in iCloud or are they are on your iPhone as well? Here's a video to watch if they are on your iPhone: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sFQEsB9UQE4.htmlsi=UevsxOdwRthy7fMF If they are only on iCloud, you'll have to download them or install the iCloud app on your PC - it essentially makes an iCloud folder in File Explorer. Hoping this helps! Cheers! Mollie
I am deeply disappointed with the new design iOS 18. As an iPhone user for 13 years, with over 200,000 photos stored on my device, this feels like a major letdown. It seems that Apple is increasingly starting to resemble Android, which is a huge step backward in my opinion. A big minus from me.
Hey Zan - its so frustrating when a company changes an app or software substantially. I actually teach to save photos on your computer in folders where you have full control of your collection. Thank you very much for watching and posting your thoughts here. ~ Mollie
Son sent me a fileme link and i'd like to download the zip files from iphone to win10. Putting the link into my computer will not open the files ... sigh. I hate computers
Hi Pam - I'm sorry for the late reply - was out of town and am still catching up. Did your son email the link to you? Can you access your email on your computer? I would do that if possible and download the zipped file to your computer and then unzip. In your downloads folder, you need to click on the Zipped File and then click Extract. Then, a new folder with the unzipped photos will be in it. Hoping this might help. Cheers! Mollie
Hi there… RAW files are so large… the cost of storing these type of files would be significant… so you edit your raw files and then save jpg’s? Put the suggestion into Forever by emailing them at support@forever.com Cheers! Mollie
Thank you very much for your welcome video. I am looking it over now and will be studying it in more detail in the coming days. I just opened my Forever account to see the new offerings. I have not yet checked into this new desire --- if audio files can be stored in Forever. I have important audio files of music performances by children as well as recordings of memories from parents. 😃
Thanks for mentioning this. I didn’t notice because I don’t typically edit photos too much. I did see the slider bar icon is visible for edits… Cheers! Mollie
I have a great deal of downloaded photos in Gallery, "When I take a picture on my Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5g, They unfortunately go to Gallery. both computer and phone. Even If I download a photo from a friend on my windows 11 computer " google Chrome " browser the photo goes to Gallery , WHAT a headache. Can I transfer my photos from Gallery to another program ? I am lost as to what to do. Also would you happen to know if there is a place on windows 11 that I can view "ALL of the photos on my computer" in One place , no doubt I have duplicates which I have to get rid of , Once duplicates are gone I want to arrange my photos In folders according to various vacation trips i've taken and so on , Hope you can help I am Not computer savey . Then after all are in their folders I can transfer to my external drive . Thanks .
Hi Sue- it’s just a matter of always going to your file explorer to view your pictures. Gallery is simply a photo viewer. It does not hold your pictures in the program. Here’s a video on how to organize photos with windows 11. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rH2L3o76pCk.htmlsi=3L1sX-ZG_IxwZ-2R I’m hoping this helps. I usually don’t recommend using any other program but file explorer. Mylio is a great program, but it has a huge learning curve and you’ve gotta use it routinely to keep up with it and make sure all is good in the program. Be careful if you use Mylio as I have had people lose their work. Here’s two videos on it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3APiBlyccac.htmlsi=HJPVaCU7F8zvfmsI ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KlrnBmDJXuo.htmlsi=hvDZdNv-vUdZf50G Hope this helps! In my opinion, Google Photos is far superior. While Amazon Photos may offer faster backups and a potentially better user interface, its advantages stop there. Downloading photos and videos in bulk is a hassle with Amazon. It seems to limit downloads to 5,000 photos or a certain number of gigabytes for videos, especially if done separately. Additionally, there’s no option to skip files you’ve already downloaded, which makes managing content cumbersome. This lack of a skip feature alone makes Google Photos the better choice. With Google Photos, downloading your entire collection is simple. You can export your entire catalog, and it conveniently breaks down the files into manageable chunks, with a maximum size of 50 GB per batch. It's unfortunate that Amazon Drive is being phased out, as it seemed to provide an easier method for users to download all their data. It feels like Amazon is keeping people tied to their platform by making it more difficult to transfer their content.
Hi there… Apple really does just keep rolling out changes. Did you try rearranging the albums with the Customize and Reorder button at the very bottom of your Photos? Thank you for posting here! Mollie
There are other parts of the Apple ecosystem that are just as frustrating and we really don’t have any say as far as I can tell. Thank you for posting here! - Mollie
I hear you! They announced it this summer but most people are not paying attention to Apples product kickoffs. An email and a choice would be appreciated by many!
I wasn’t trying to be rude or disrespectful. I was just actually looking on how to edit and crop most people want subscribers, but I believe in my opinion short and to the point is the way to go for more subscribers
Thank you for trying to explain this. I think Gallery is a useless feature Microsoft added so users would backup their photos to OneDrive. I don't use OneDrive or the default photo app. I use pCloud for backup and Imageglass to view my photos, and I simply create and label folders to organize my photos
Hello. I viewed your video again on this topic and followed all the steps. However, for some strange reason, not all the pics from my iPhone are being copied to my PC. Any suggestions on this? Also, I realized that once my iPhone is connected to my PC, trying to delete photos from the directory where the iPhone is connected proves to be problematic. I can't seem to click on multiple pics to then delete. Your help on this is also greatly appreciated. Again, great video on the topic!!! 🙂
Hi Harry - it's possible, that your phone is optimized and some of your photos are being stored full version in iCloud. Watch this video for an update: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pQjmosYtH_w.html I usually don't delete photos on my iPhone using File Explorer. I do that on the iPhone where I can select multiple ones. Hoping this all helps. Cheers! Mollie
@@Pixologie Hello Mollie! Thank you for taking the time to respond. I eventually got it done. However, after moving "All" my pics from iPhone to PC, after disconnecting, I still see pics on my iPhone. 😀
Hi there - sorry for the delay in replying. When you do this. . . you are COPYING the files, not moving them. You'll have to delete them on your phone if you don't want them anymore. Thanks so much for letting me know how it went!
I've been doing this process for over a decade, but have been struggling since the introduction of HEIC. The metadata doesn't transfer properly for almost all photos, which means "Date taken" is lost. I guess the only way to remedy this is to switch back to JPEG.
Hi there - Here's a live program where I explain HEIC files in more detail: ru-vid.comWLVZhLSuD-k Your date taken shouldn't be lost though. How are you viewing the photos? What kind of computer do you use? I don't think there's anything wrong with having the camera take photos in JPEG format. Cheers! Mollie
Can you explain more. . . photos on your phone Photos App connected to the PC? It could be related to how you saved the photos. For instance if you saved a photo someone texted you it might be saved in a recent folder even though it is an older photo.
It's all overwhelming. I'm being forced to move 22,000 Picasa photos to the Mac Photos app on an M1 Mac Mini. Over the years I have developed a folder system, top level named My Photos, below that a series of sources of the photos, below that which camera was used, below that folders of photos with the folder name as date in YYMMDD form, location or subject. This works for me even if it's a rubbish way to do it. What I want to do is tell Photos to keep exactly to my existing structure, I don't want any albums, facial recognition etc. I also don't want to have my 22,000 stored in my folder structure then stored again in some Photos structure just to suit the app. Can I achieve this? How? Thank you from the UK.
Hi there… you could just move your folders into the Mac Finder and not import them at all. Otherwise, you’d have to manually build the folder structure in the Photos App on your Mac. Here’s a video on using Mac Photos: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i4R1zVmLBdM.htmlsi=m61DI5vPdtJoZuZY Hoping this helps! Mollie
@@Pixologie That's kind of you to respond so quickly and I have watched the recommended video before asking my question, hence it is so overwhelming. I accept I'm a pedant but experienced users throw about terminology that we greenhorns don't comprehend. So, all my 22,000 photos are on my Mac so telling me to move them into the Mac Finder throws me, they are already accessible via Finder. Their highest level folder is named "My Photos" and there are multiple folder levels below that which I'm used to and a structure that works for me. So I want to avoid building a structure within the Photos App that duplicates what I've already got, I want to point the Photos App to my existing structure under the name "My Photos" hoping that the Photos App isn't clunky and prescriptive and insistant that, like a lot of Apple stuff, you, the user, does it Apple's way or not at all. Terry
Okay. . . sounds like you have a Folder structure all set in your Finder. Unfortunately, you would have to import all of your folders/photos into the Photos App to achieve viewing them in the Photos App. Then, most likely, build the folder structure again in the Photos App. You are correct that you have to do it Apple's way. What was your goal if you could point the Photos App to your existing structure? To be able to view them on your Phone's Photos App? Hoping this makes sense! Cheers! Mollie
