As someone who often teaches students that really don't fit the "normal" educational path, I loved this school they go to :) It's such a waste trying to fit every individual into the same mold.
The school looks great. In normal schools the rules about appearance are very strict. If you intend to work in these fields it seems like a better choice than a normal high school where you don't learn practical knowledge.

I grew up in Japan in the 90s and early 2000s and was always fascinated by gyaru and the culture but I was too young at the time. I was obsessed with the manga and anime series “GALS!” too. Thanks for letting us follow the day in the life of modern day gyaru. They seem like lovely girls and wishing them all the best!
I haven't really noticed anyone like them in the last week that I've been in Tokyo, but if they weren't being loud I 'm not sure I would. I haven't spent a ton of time in Shibuya though. Most of the people that stood out to me have been in Ikebukoro and around the large outdoor flea market near the horse track on the weekends. I noticed one vendor there that was dressed in the way that I had recalled gyaru being described. The flea market seemed to attract a lot of sub-culture oriented people that were there to clothes shop. I've happened to be around areas that had some sort of anime meetup and I've seen more "maid" and Victorian inspired clothes than anything. The thing that surprises me is how heavy they ladies tend to dress for the weather. I've seen so many heavy looking sweaters, jackets and light coats and it's still in the low to mid-70s F. Definitely sweater weather after dark, but I'd be sweltering during the day.
