HI all, I do these videos to give back to the Brick community. They are not professionally shot and may even make a few of you motion sick. I just find that some of these sets can be improved upon or I want to share the experience of building for those considering purchasing these sets for themselves.
I am not the best at responding... TBH, actually, I suck at responding. I usually check in for a few weeks after posting a video and then leave it for you to find. I much appreciate you letting me know that these may be helpful to most of you (thanks to my niece for pointing this out). Thank you to those that respond to & help others!
Arggh... ADs I do not monetize this channel, so if there are ads, it's friggin Google's AI overlord adding them. I truly apologize for the interruptions. If you know how to stop them, I'd love to hear it. I promise to check in more than once a year. OK, well I'll try to anyway.
Stay well, do good in the world, leave a beautiful corpse.
The part you’re talking about at the seven minute mark is absolutely the most ridiculous thing to assemble I’ve ever seen. How did you get that to stay together because I’ve been trying for two days
I don’t understand why they made no way to snap the the pieces together to actually hold it stable every time I try to attach the endcap it just falls apart.
I like how you think I don't mean just your thoughts about Lego which I no long have respect for because their mentally weak minded and is unwilling to accept their biggest faults as their fault because I as a retired building engineer of a building 30 floors or taller, as if it was my building, and my job was to keep everyone happy and comfortable someone being to hot in the middle of a snowstorm could happen not in my build it was not allow so I had to fix it before it would happen thinking of all the possible ways keep me moving and today I no longer do that but I can build miniature model building like the building I once work in but I on longer live near so I can no longer see them! I once working abuilding just like this many years ago in Downtown Seattle the Yesler Building which lost most of it greatness to the modern look it is part of the old history of Seattle Pioneer part of the town! The main goal of mine is to do as many things as I can which is never exactly as the real things so for me it is my job to make it better be to work faster or build it better with less if possible which I have done yes making it better with less bricks pieces something Lego hates being told, so I no longer help #Lego! But I love the hard to do bricks thinking outside the box many years Lego was working outside the box sadly Lego want to hurt people who do what Lego wants nothing to do with! SHAME ON LEGO! This is one great video!
Can you please help me assembly back of the ship ? It comes off really easy i was wondering if i did something wrong but i followed the instructions and it seems to be done good... I cant fit the back and side windows to the ship it just comes off so easily and breaks ;(
Its been a bit, but I do not recall having a problem with that except, now that I think about it, I think on one side I had misplaced a ball socket and the side panel got in the way of attaching the back. Once I adjusted it correctly it was fine. do not know if that will help
Hi all, I just noticed today a bunch of you asked about missing instructions for the short bridge in the Justice Magician Castle. I do not have software for creating and posting PDFs from images. Sorry. I did a short video with what I believe are the pages you are looking for. So sorry for the delay in doing this, but the video is kind of old, and I did not think many were still watching. Anyway, I hope this helps. Please read the description in that video. It should be up in a bit. 04-12-2024 (US)
Another excellent review, thank you! These pirate ship MOCS have gone down in price drastically in the last year or two. I have a different version Queen Anne's revenge MOC. I prefer the design of yours, mine makes use of a large number of minifig skulls in the aft castle, not a big fan of that design. Mine came with what appear to be the same sails. I like the material but I do not care for the huge printed jolly Roger / skull and crossbones. I ended up making my own sails out of some thin canvas material I stole from my wife's craft supplies. I used the included red sail as a template and the replacements turned out quite nicely.
I've had really good luck using acetone for those stubborn places that require glue. If you are patient and paint it on lightly it works very well. There's no hazing residue like you get with kraggle. The bond isn't as strong but it has worked really well for me.
Great video review! I especially like your idea of using tiles and jumpers at intervals to make the buildings easily removable. I wish I had done the same with mine, it just makes it so much easier to arrange and eventually disassemble for storage. I had such a good time building with my kid during lockdown. I'm so glad we had a closet full of new sets to build, I look back on that time very fondly. We already had The Lego brand Hogwarts ( it's one of those special sets like the Ghostbusters Firehouse that I feel is worth paying full LEGO prices) I picked up the ultimate extension in 2021. Sadly it was a real disappointment becaue the Chinese companies still couldn't produce accurate tan elements at this time. The "tan" bricks in ours had a distinct greenish cast which stood out like a sore thumb! Thankfully I got the extension set from YWOBB and Jay took care of us. Although we did have to wait about 6 months Jay sent us a full replacement which used Gobricks elements and they are a perfect match to real Lego. Jay let us keep the off colour set and we ended up using it to build a huge crusader fortress, so it turned out to be a win-win. Cheers!
So nice to hear. Ya, some of mine had a pink tint to them. I do not recall if I mentioned, but I also had to order a handful of parts from LEGO. Glad the video helped. My niece is usually my sous builder, but with covid lockdown that wasn't possible. Prolly worked out for the better as figuring out the rebuild would have bored her, not to mention the colorful language used when bits collapsed. 8) Be well.
You have no idea how happy I am that u uploaded this. I’m thinking about getting this for my birthday and I can’t seem to find a good review of it. Thanks you 🙏
Well first of all, Happy Birthday. I am glad you found it useful. That is why I started doing off LEGO sets. Not many people seem to review them. Everyone and their brother, sister, father, mother review LEGO sets. I only did two mods which I discuss later in video which you may want to try (basically adding to plates and rigging without knots. I was very happy with the set. Be well.
Hi, I bought them on Ali-Express. However a few months back as well as others telling me they have not been able to find the expansions, I am not sure if all are still available.
I've just started building this myself, and it seems as though they've altered the instructions somewhat because several of the parts you mentioned as falling off (like the bow) aren't built until much later in my build (currently on stage 5 and haven't even begun with the front bow yet!) My set also came with a full set of supports for the bottom deck. Awesome to know Mould King have seen feedback and adapted this build!
Hi, from what you remember the middle gun deck with the stairs that lead down into it. Is that tall enough for Lego mini figures to stand in it and be somewhat accurate to size? I was thinking of buying this set and changing something around. I also noticed the Forecastle is somewhat short. Thanks !
I've crewed my set. It looks fine, but not sure if minifigs will fit below. The Flying Dutchman set I built does not have removable decks, but scale seems fine above decks
Hi, I liked the build better than the one offered by Lego at the time. As to IP theft, I'll let Mould King and Warner sort that out. IMO, the train isn't and IP, though I agree that the decals prolly are.
@@LazyDaysFV21it was originally created by the youtubeR MOCYOURBRICKS but he posted a full tutorial and people made his build an official set without him knowing
It's so beautiful I wish I could buy it. I think it's really worth it even if it's not official Legos, looks authentic and from what I know you can mix the two
I am hearing that they improved some of the bits i mentioned. The Black Pearl or Queen Anne's Revenge are a much better experience. Maybe start with one of those. Yes, Lego and Mould King pieces work together.
Hi i have some instruction absent in my notice for the bridge (betwenn the small et big extention) in the small extention can you share me this part of you instruction ? Thanks you !
I am building this right now and your video is helping me very much. Great tips (like the bases at 28:26) and commentary through out the build. Thank you!
I just got finished building mine and the biggest complaint i have besides the instructions are that the mognet connections are way to strong for the top sections
So sorry for delay. Agreed. also keep them away from electronics. Its been a while and I long since disassembled it, but IIRC, I glued the plates the were attached too.
I’ve always liked this model and am thinking about getting it. But the main mod I plan on doing is making the lower deck and captain’s cabin taller because minifigs cannot fit with the plates over their head.
loved this, thank you for documenting your experience. I've never purchased a non-lego brick building product before but this set looked too cool not to at least consider!
Hi, I was informed by someone a few weeks ago that they improved the build. They said the parts that I indicated falling off do not and that there are supports under the deck. a bit late but hope that helps
Yes thank you for the wire management tips. I'm in the middle of this very build right now, and encountered the same observation with the wiring. I'm also considering cutting the extra length and re-soldering the wires to have very little extra. the build instructions treat the electronics very much like the Underpants Gnomes. phase 1: collect underpants phase 2: phase 3: mass profit. I do agree that this set is more along the lines of what many Lego fans were hopping to get from the harry potter trains. If Lego did this set, the QA would have had all these issues on lock down, all be it the price would probably be $400 with the electronics and part count.
Hi, I do not get underpants reference. How did the wiring go? I do not have a soldering gun. I am not sure how I would do that without potentially ruining the cable.
